2 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2004 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 07/31/2012

My battery on my 2004 Mazda 6 went out and I had to jump start it to. Go to work and come from work one day. The next day I took my battery to get checked to see what the issue was and they told me my battery was completely dead and it had only 6 months of usage. I put a new battery in my vehicle and as I installed the new battery I unplugged it to see if my alternator would kick in to make sure it was working correctly and as I put the battery back on a shortage happens and my wipers came on at full speed and all my lights were blinking on my dash and a smell of electrical wires burning started to happen and the entire electrical system has messed up. Turn signal lights don't work, headlights, bose stereo, hazard lights, reverse lights truck don't open windows don't go up or down and while I drive the speedometer does not track the velocity the needle goes crazy and my e-brake light is on and track control light is blinking and the air bag lights come on all the time . I do not know where to start to fix this issue but I'm really disappointed in this because I just have 8 months with my vehicle from a dealer ship and they checked out car just fine. This is going to be a super high cost to repair all the damages. Just from a change of a battery. And to top it all thank god I wasn't in the car because their was a small fire in the wires but it went away quick.

3 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2004 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 10/04/2011

Vehicle has needed 3 battery replacements within past 2 years. Last incident was when vehicle had been idle for 5 days and needed jump starting. Vehicle ran ok for a couple of hours but after sitting idle for about 6 hours the battery was dead again. The next day an attempt to jump start the vehicle failed. In addition, many electrical components started up. The electric windows rolled down and wipers turned on by themselves. Vehicle was towed to Mazda dealership. First diagnosis was bad alternator. Alternator was overcharging. Second diagnosis was a failed cpm / computer. Dealership said overcharging alternator shorted out cpm. Also fuses etc. Had been blown out. Parts have been ordered but vehicle has not been repaired as of this note.

4 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2002 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 04/22/2005

I have a 2002 Mazda tribute ES v-6, I purchased in February, 2002. I began complaining of electrical issues (. . . Specifically battery charging/maintaining charge), at 15000 miles. Initially, the car would lose battery charge; but in January, 2005, the fuel injection system would not operate properly. The battery was determined to be faulty; and was replaced at no charge. The mileage was 29,527. April 22, 2005. . . I was in the west-bound lanes of interstate 90, in spokane, wa. The freeway is under construction, with 3' shoulders; then concrete barriers. It was 5:30 pm, rush hour. The car died completely; not even enough electrical power to activate the emergency flashing lights. I immediately dialed 911 and the state patrol; as I could see the potential, for a major, multiple car crash! I exited the car and got outside the concrete barrier, running back about 100 yards; waving to the oncoming traffic to slow down, and "merge. " I then ran back to the car; and got out my emergency battery booster, attaching it directly to the battery. I was frightened of being rammed; but felt it important to warn oncoming traffic. The booster had enough reserve power, to start the engine!! I drove down the shoulder, with the hood up; until I reached the next exit. I pulled off on the shoulder, clear of traffic. . . Fearful the booster would not keep the car running much longer. The state trooper pulled-up, and congratulated me for "being very courageous; but perhaps foolish. "she could see the west-bound lanes, from pines road, where she crossed the freeway, to get to me. Traffic was "backing-up" very quickly. . . And far to the east! she was very surprised there had been no major accident. The dealer informed me, the battery was defective. The battery is only 3000 miles "old. " is there an ongoing electrical problem, that will leave me stalled again; or cause a fire?! there are ongoing problems with the suspension, transmission, and valve train.

5 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 03/26/2005

My car has had all of it's routine maintenance done. At 30k I had to replace the transmission at 20 I had to replace the alternator. At 60k I have had to replace the transmission again! at 60k I had to replace a transaxle something or another . Now at 66k it is doing all of the same things that it was doing before the transmissions went out, and it's because "I need a new air filter, spark plugs, and fuel filter" the car jerks very hard when slowing down on the freeway the rpm race, like it won't gear down. When I put it in park it's as if I am pressing the gas pedal down and revving the engine. But the car is in park, and there is no pressure on the gas pedal what so ever! I hate this car, and recommend no one to buy one! I will be voicing my opinion of the car in the car windows, and telling everyone I know about the poor quality of this car. You would think that paying 27k for a vehicle that it would last!.

6 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 02/05/2004

The contact owns a 2003 Mazda 6. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle vibrated and hesitated without warning. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. The technician stated that the failure was related to the engine, which was replaced. In addition, the vehicle would shift roughly from first to second gear. He experienced failure with the exterior lights and the window operating mechanisms. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and a diagnostic test was performed. The technician stated that the aftermarket electronic components were possibly the causes of the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the following components: alternator, battery, exterior lights, and four window operating mechanisms. Also, the computer module, transmission, and air conditioner modules were replaced. The failure mileage was 85,000 and current mileage was 94,000.
