Mazda MAZDA6 owners have reported 148 problems related to electrical system (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Mazda MAZDA6 based on all problems reported for the MAZDA6.
Infotainment system continually has ghost touches and opens apps, changes radio stations glitches on the screen while the car is driving making it extremely dangerous to drive as it affects volume also. Sometimes it will just start blaring at full volume. Happens everytime I drive.

The infotainment system randomly changes screens, places calls, alters routes while vehicle is in use. It makes for a dangerous distraction while driving.
The sensors on my alarm system will randomly activate, with alarm going off at 30 second intervals. The problem began approximately 6 months ago. I took the initiative to replace my cars battery, along with the battery in my fab. I really thought that solved my problem, as a first step fix. I began once again to identify the sound of my car alarm in multiple parking lots throughout time. I have been investigating this problem, and have read that this alarm problem has been sited by many Mazda 6 owners. I am the original owner of the 2009 Mazda 6 grand touring, and have 67,000 miles driven. I called the repair department at my dealership, and was told that it cost $185. 00 for just the diagnosis. My auto insurance company policy price is based on using a secured vehicle. Right now I only can leave it unlocked in my garage, otherwise, my vehicle is at risk of being stolen.

The infotainment system on my car randomly repeatedly and frequently registers inputs when I am not making any. This has happened more times than I can count over the past several years. It will call people in my contacts, change settings on my car including safety settings, it will blast the volume, turn the volume all the way down, etc. This causes me to repeatedly take my eyes off the road to undo all of the unwarranted inputs which is a safety concern and has almost caused an accident at least once. There is an open recall for model years 2014 to 2016 for this exact issue. I am not sure why there is no 2017 recall since this is the exact same problem of "ghost touch" in previous model years.
The shifter park switch failed, causing the vehicle to say on when turning the vehicle off. This causes the battery to drain and created a bad cell battery. This caused the vehicle to turn off while in motion driving multiple times putting the driver and surrounding vehicles at risk. This vehicle has been inspected by the Mazda dealership/manufacturer.

2017 Mazda 6 with the dreaded "ghost touch" on the infotainment system. Driving along, the screen freaks out, volume goes up, station changes, screen goes almost black, bass goes up, fader goes to back. . . Very disappointing that Mazda knows about the problem and continues to build cars with this issue. Why only recall 2014-2016 Mazda 3's when it's happening across all models and into the 2020 models? won't buy a Mazda again.
The issue I'm experiencing seems to be common, and is called the "infotainment ghost touch screen issue" the electric screen that shows maps, radio stations, chapters in books I'm listening to, driving directions, etc. Starts fluctuating wildly whenever I'm approaching traffic lights. This causes a series of loud beeps and screen fluctuations that are not only distracting but startling --especially if I'm not listening to the radio and the car is quiet. The warranty on the electronic screen has expired but the car is in perfect shape other than this issue (which Mazda knows about). The screen is very expensive to fix or replace. Recently, when the infotainment screen fluctuates the mileage and other dashboard screens start fluctuating as well; they're in my line of vision and are distracting and therefore dangerous, especially on miami's already dangerous highways. I'd like to bring the car to the Mazda dealership and have this issue fixed without incurring a cost.
Touch screen on vehicle making random selections on its own, causing potentially dangerous distractions to myself while driving. There are also dead spots on screen where touch does not work. Reads error code "b108e04 display-system internal failure".
Was at a drive in window and car turned off and couldn't restart. Windows and lights would work but car wouldn't restart. Could of been driving and would of crashed. Had 3 people family in car. It was 9 pm had to have towed to nearest auto mechanic place 150. 00. They are diagnosing and that is 186. 00. This is a scary thing and going to bbb and filing a complaint I'm mad as he'll. Have had inspection done on this car 2 months ago and all required services to this car. This was without warning which is horrifying.

When I put the car in park and push the push start/stop button, the car shuts off but the accessories and middle console display stay on. I have to keep shifting the car between the park position and the drive position before I put it back to the park position for the car to completely shut-off. This car is available for inspection. As far as safety is concerned, the only thing I can think of is that if the car does not completely shut off the battery would drain and not be able to start the car. I took the car to my mechanic and he said that I need to take it to the dealer. The dealer was informed and the dealer said that it was not a recall. The car was only inspected by my mechanic. There were no warning lights or messages in the car or symptoms prior to this happening.
The infotainment system will have repeated ghost touches rendering the screen virtually useless. This is a known issue that Mazda is not repairing and they are making the car owner responsible on paying for the fix of their broken product.
My rpm's reaved up real high while driving 60mph and all the sudden the car down shifted and I had to put car in neutral in order maintain control. The traction control light and heck engine lights came on same time, lost power to the car the navigation and radio and dash lights, had no power to drive train, had vechile dinogstic check done at o'reilly auto and they told me it was a pcm power control module. And I called the Mazda dealer in fostoria ohio the macanhic told me the pcm power control module had been reprogram and I never received no notice on any recalls or the person I bought my car never either. My car is 7 years old and if it war reprogram it should not go bad that soon. Unless there is a problem with there components there using. But my car will cause a accident if I continue to drive it. I like my Mazda6 2015 but I'm afraid after having the car doing what it did to me on the highway. I had no warning lights come on until the day I was driving down the highway when this problem occurred.

Ignition does not turn off when pressing start/stop button draining battery with car completely shutting down while driving, coasting to the side of road almost causing an accident. Second time, car was parked, would not restart, had to get a jumpstart as battery was drained once again. Third time, car wouldn't restart at all and car had to be towed.
Car won't start due to pcm/tcm lost communication.

The vehicle wont shut completely off when you press the start/stop button after shifting into "park". The relay that tells the car it's in park is faulty and the car wont shut off all the way. This will drain the battery and not allow the driver to lock the doors when they exit the vehicle. This is stranding hazard I've seen lots of youtube videos and online forum complaints about this problem. It should be added to the recall list.
Mazda infotainment system operates without user input, "ghost touch" issue reported. Automatic input causes volume to turn to loudest setting, re-routes navigation, dials phone numbers through connected usb and bluetooth devices, all with no user input to the touch screen or control knobs. System can not be turned off, ghost touch issue turns system back on without user input. Severe safety concern due to distraction, navigation error, damaging uncontrolled high volume of stereo while driving.
The driver's side low beam headlight wiring harness melts and seems to be continuing problem. Even after replacing stock, (which melted,) with a better wiring harness it still began to melt and loose circuit, but like I said it was doing this before ever being replaced. Happens every couple months are so depending on amount of night driving. I have read several complaints about this happening to several owners of the same vehicle on the same drivers side with the same original harness and replacements doing this same melting and frequent on/off short circuit malfunctioning. Possibly causing a fire or fried wiring or loss of headlight causing unsafe conditions.
I’ve had my 2017 Mazda6 for 2 years and first had an issue when the vehicle could not detect the key fob was near. A Mazda dealership at that time could not resolve the issue. Now at times the vehicle won’t start unless I physically hover the key fob over the push to start button. I continued with the purchase and now 2 years in I’ve had so many issues with the infotainment screen acting insane, known as “ghost touching”. When coming to a stop the screen will start clicking around to different screen settings on the monitor. It’s incredibly frustrating and unsafe trying to resolve this issue in the middle of dallas traffic. Earlier this year I had to make 6 hour trip up north and cruise control caused an issue the entire ride there. When cruise control was turned on the vehicle would start to accelerate on its own. I’m familiar with cruise control and how to use it. No button to increase speed or gas were used to increase the speed at that time, and when I tried to decrease speed from the steering wheel, the button would not work, only working when the break was pressed. Last I checked, cruise control is no longer working in the vehicle. I am terrified to learn of the other issues that could come of the electrical issue I’m having with the car. The electrical issues reported from myself and others need to be a cause for a concern and a recall needs to happen!! I have also noticed the collision avoidance light will turn on and off, I’m not sure if this is related to the above issues but am certain that the key fob light that stays on, never shutting off is related. Please help!!.
Hello I am a 2nd owner of a Mazda 2007 6. And the man I brought car from said it always did it to him as well. I would explain it as in stopping or speeding up the dashboard lights flicker or goes off, the engine gets real loud and car jerks and shakes and loses power check engine light comes on and at. And cars dyes in reverse a few times on me. Auto lots said that it is common and known for electrical problems and engine issues and pieces called camshafts position actuator and transmission range sensor and gears. And the man owned before me has replaced them multiple times. Its dangerous to be driving specially on interstate and car stalls or lose so much power that I only get about 20 miles an hour.

The vehicle infotainment system in this 2016 Mazda 6 no longer works and has what is called a rolling reboot. This seems a common problem with Mazda's based on a service alert sa-011/20 as well as a TSB 09-020/18. When broken I can't use the hands free to make or receive calls, nor can I modify preferences, service warnings, use the radio etc. The car is out of warranty and the part known as a connectivity master unit (cmu) is over $1000 including tax. I think Mazda should at least provide a replacement part for this very common problem, which effects many models.

The infotainment system is experiencing problems of operating by itself (ghost touch) similar to the hazard experienced on certain 2014-2016 Mazda 3s.
Was driving on the highway when the check engine light came on. Not 10 minutes later, I lost acceleration and steering. Managed to get to the shoulder just in time before my car pretty much died. The water light and battery light came on when I came to a stop. Mechanic discribes it as 'catastrophic engine failure'. Other than the check engine light, there were no other warnings. The temperature gage was normal and there were no weird sounds or smoke. Diagnostic readings said a coolant leak lead to the radiator overheating which caused the engine to seize. The freeze frame data says 'p0117 engine coolant temperature sensor 1 circuit low'. I researched that and it said that when 'low', the check engine will come on but there will probably be no other warnings and that the sensor usually needs to be replaced around 100k miles. My vehicle is at 51k miles. Currently have 3k in repairs which does not include the cost of an engine.

Please see https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2019/mc-10166895-0001. Pdf parts and warranty information sspb6 I, and many other Mazda6 owners, have this exact problem which prevents cell phones from being able to connect to the car's bluetooth. As a result, drivers can not follow the law, I. E. All maryland drivers are prohibited from using a cell phone without a hands free device while operating a motor vehicle. This impacts my safety and the safety of others. On 8/12/21 Mazda referred to this as ghost touch and quoted $1,250 to fix it. I believe Mazda should cover this repair as they did with the Mazda3's. Can you please help me?.
For the last 2 yrs the screen and radio volume and turned up loudly on it's on while driving and causes a severe distraction. Also the channels change on it's own and beep. The screen changes from light to dark mode on it's own and the bluetooth cuts out while I'm on the phone or it calls someone on my contact list on it's own. It's caused me to be distracted and almost have accidents because it doesn't stop. This is an ongoing problem with Mazda owners and should be recalled due to safety concerns there was a recall on older models with the same type of issue. . It's gotten much worse lately and I've just taken it to the Mazda dealer. They call a ghost touch and they said Mazda is aware of the problem. There has also been reports on the bbb website about similiar issues. I called Mazda and they opened a case on it. The case # is 00104322. The Mazda dealer said it would cost over $600 to fix and the screen needs to be replaced.
My "infotainment" system was experiencing ghost touching. In other words, the touch screen in the car that controls everything from radio to bluetooth to settings for safety features such as braking assist and automatic sensor wipers would completely go crazy and select/unselect features in the touchscreen. Sometimes it was one touch at a time (ie, change the radio station). Over time, and the more humid it was outside, I would have drives where every time the car was under 10mph, the touchscreen would go berserk. The car does have a feature where you cannot change settings when the car is going faster than 10mph, so thankfully this could not happen continuously. I had many instances where I would be braking to stop at a red light and the volume of the radio would go up so high that you would immediately cover your ears. (I keep radio at volume 10-15 and go to 30 when I want it really loud, it would go to 50 or more by itself). Obviously this is not good when you are at 10mph and still coming to a stop with a car in front of you. The first time it happened, I was so unaware that I immediately slammed on the brakes to a complete stop and the car behind me barely missed hitting me. Other instances involved the ghost touching turning off the "brake assist" option in the settings and turning off the "rain sensing wipers" feature all while driving. I would have to wait until my destination, then turn off the car and then turn back on to turn these safety features back on for the next drive. Obviously this is not good safety, when these safety features turn off during a drive. It got to the point I would not drive my kids in the car anymore. The Mazda dealer did not understand what was happening, but a quick google search shows this issue for 2017 Mazda 6 and 2014-2016 Mazda3. Thats alot of cars and the only fix is to replace the touchscreen. I replaced mine in the summer of 2021 and paid well over $900. This needs to be recalled to prevent future issues for owners.
The contact's son owns a 2014 Mazda Mazda6. The contact stated that while her son was attempting to shift into park, the vehicle failed to recognize the gear selected, causing the battery to drain over time. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
Pcm issue, passenger air bag issue, OCS wiring issue. Infotainment system, transmission, and engine. Key fobs not able to be reprogrammed due to pcm issue.
My car had a air bag recal and a subframe and other misc recalls so I contacted the dealership near me which was in springfield mo and set a apt and had it replaced then got a call the next day saying they wuld meet me half way with a loaner car which was in mansfield mo for the subframe replacement and they have had it for over a month and they called and told me it was ready for pick up 6/21/21 and I drove up there wed to pick it up and it wuldnt start wuldnt do nothing dead battery. Dealership then hooked up a jump box the gauges started jumping all back and fourth like something was shorted or a short some were got it started and the min the jump box turned off the it killed all power the car shut completly off to nothing. So they gave me the loner vehical back and they drove me my car to west plains mo and they took the loner vehical and I got in my car and the air bag light is flashing very fast constly the steering is super tight and the brakes feel weird the passenger side is missing a piece in the dash only lights that was on my car when they picked it up was the tire sensor light and the check engine light got pics to prove and show everything. . I’m driving it back to dealership to see if they can fix or make it right and give me the loner vehical back till they get my car back to the condition it was in when they picked it up for a recall repair. .
I think it is unfair that a manufacturing problem has been unnoticed and left to people to pay for. I am already paying enough for this car to also have to worry about a manufacturing problem that has been left unattended by the company. This certainly is very dangerous as I might have the cars battery die and have no way of getting immediate help and right now it's just the car not acknowledging the parking mode but what if one day the car starts using the wrong shift unknowingly to me and I end up in a car accident because of this? I wont be able to do anything as this has been left unnoticed and no recall has been made even with the dangers it presents to the driver and the car itself. Some of this informations was found on https://Mazda. Oemdtc. Com/665/ignition-does-not-turn-off-when-pressing-startstop-button-2013-2014-Mazda.
When pressing the start stop button, the ignition may not turn off the accessories, even with the shifter in park position, and the vehicle engine shuts off normally the ignition stays on in accessory mode. This can cause battery drain/dead, possibly leaving me stranded in the dangerous situation. This has been unknown problem that is been refused by Mazda to create a recall. Right now it’s the car not acknowledging it’s in park because of a faulty switch, that Mazda clearly knows about and has had tons of complaints about and is well documented with NHTSA. How bad does this need to get before Mazda puts out a recall for all vehicles affected. Eventually, it will never be able to go to park and I may get in my car to drive it and it starts off in the wrong shift the wrong and I end up in a car accident. I’m sure Mazda wouldn’t want any crashes, fires, injuries or deaths on their hands do this well established faulty switch that they refused to recall.
Car is mint for age. Stock oem hid style headlights failed, headlights are still clear. The turn signals failed and activated safetys. Ground plug under air filter assembly that is a piece of metal bolted to car with 5 wires that plug into it corroded so bad no ground connection and each of the wires made no connection to the plug. No info on how to diagnose and/or repair. Common problem. Took everything apart and soaked all corroded parts in a solution of clr, everything put back together clean with dielectric grease. Numerous shops could not diagnose including 1 dealer. Said headlights needed to be replaced at $500+/ side parts only. Very common on the rare factory installed hid systems. Wiring is different.

Ghost touch: my vehicle has the same "ghost touch" problem described in NHTSA id number 11375393. Functions on the touch screen randomly activate themselves. This occurs both while driving and while stopped. It is difficult to cancel these random actions, and it is distracting to deal with this problem while driving. I first noticed it around 32k miles, which is about 15k miles ago, and it occurs a few times a week.
Ghost touch- radio/audio center randomly switches modes, stations, functions and will access phone contacts via bluetooth and make random voice calls . Once connected, it is very difficult to disconnect. Often times the call will be repeated several times. This occurs both while sitting still or when driving. It is very distracting to try to disconnect random voice calls while driving. The steering wheel buttons are not effective in trying to disconnect. You must cancel the call on the actual phone in violation of hands-free laws in the state of georgia.
My car steering veers to the left constantly. The electrical system is wired wrong and doesn't work properly. This happens while I'm driving all the time and its only a matter of time before it causes me to wreck.
I purchased this vehicle for my 16 yr old daughter 1 yr ago. The car has a clean carfax and has had no accidents. Upon purchasing the car the headlights continue to burn out. Taking it to a Mazda dealership I learned the headlight assembly unit was melting. I had to purchase 2 used headlight assembly because new from the dealership are 1,000 a piece. 2 used but perfectly working headlights were installed and within a yr the headlights had burned out again. I went to change the bulbs only to learn the headlight assembly were once again burnt. I have to purchase 2 new headlight assembly again but the mechanic can not guarantee that this burning situation won't occur. After calling around to places to find headlight assembly I have come to find out many are burnt. This seems like a real problem considering you need headlights to drive at night. Spending 1,000 everytime my headlights burn out seems 100% unreasonable and the fact that there is cleary a wiring issue within the headlight assembly unit itself seems to be a problem. I have been on multiple forums and this is a common issue. Please fix the problem!!!!!!.
