My accelerator gets stuck frequently. This is dangerous and there is no way this could be my fault. It has gotten stuck on several occasions since November of 2008. On a separate note: my brake booster failed (twice) in two years.

I have a Mazda Tribute 2007 that has a gas pedal that sticks. I have taken it to the dealership 2 times and am told there is nothing wrong with the car. "it doesn't stick when they drive it" the date listed is the most recent date of the problem. It has been an continuous problem since I bought the car.

I have had problems in the past where my gas pedal gets stuck. It's almost as if there is something lodged beneath the pedal, but the floor area is clear and free from any clutter. I have also noticed that this problem occurs once the weather changes; as soon as winter season starts is when I have this problem. I had it taken to a local mechanic shop and was told that there was a carbon build-up that needed to be cleaned out. The mechanic stated the carbon build-up was not allowing the throttle plate/flap to open and close like it should which was causing the gas pedal to stick. This can lead to a very dangerous or life-threatening car accident. This has happened for the past two years and is now starting up again. The only other complaint other than this is that the vehicle makes for a very noisy ride on the highway; I hear all outside noises such as the wind and bumps on the road.

When the weather gets cool (sub 50f) the gas pedal will stick. When the gas pedal is fully depressed and you go to push it down it sticks. When this sticking finally lets go the vehicle jumps forward. The v6 version of this SUV has a recall on the pedal but I own the v4.

Failure Date: 09/08/2010

The contact owns a 2004 Mazda Tribute. While driving approximately 55 mph he applied pressure to the accelerator pedal. The accelerator pedal became stuck while it was partially depressed. He applied pressure to the brake pedal but the vehicle would not slow down rapidly enough. He then reapplied pressure to the accelerator pedal until the pedal was fully depressed to the floor. When the pedal depressed to the floor, the vehicle stopped accelerating. He drove onto the emergency lane and shut the vehicle off. The vehicle was towed to his residence and had not been examined for the cause of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 114,900.

Gas pedal sticks in the up-position. No matter how hard I step on the gas pedal, it will not unjam until it's ready to. This has happened over 50 times, but the worst was yesterday when it happened in the middle of heavy traffic. I was almost stopped by the time the accelerator became unstuck, and the pressure I was applying caused the vehicle to jump forward, squealing the tires. Unnerving and dangerous!.

Gas pedal sticks, preventing you from accelerating the vehicle. So when driving down the road you might be fine, or you could be sitting idle, until the gas pedal will free up. This has probably happened 30 times or more. Needs to be recalled. Also around 30,000 miles the paint started coming off all the door trim.

The contact owns a 2005 Mazda Tribute. While driving approximately 60 mph on the freeway the accelerator pedal became stuck and the contact almost drove onto a curb. She was able to slow the vehicle down; however, when she engaged the accelerator pedal, it failed to engage. The driver pumped the brake pedal and was then able to engage the accelerator pedal. The failure occurred more than 20 times. The failure recurred when she was driving 35 mph. When she tried to apply the brake pedal it didn't correct the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 65,020.

The gas pedal of my vehicle sticks when it is first depressed, after setting idle at traffic stops. It also sticks when first accelerating the vehicle on most mornings. This has occurred several times, and has become very frequent. The most recent incident was on Tuesday, February 16, 2010.

The contact owns a 2008 Mazda Tribute. The contact took off and the accelerator got stiff and stuck. While driving 30 mph, the accelerator pedal became stiff, the vehicle surged forward and nearly hit another vehicle. The contact did notify the manufacturer and they informed him that there were no related recalls. The failure mileage was 42,000. The current mileage was 42,000.

Accelerator pedal is sticky. It becomes very difficult to push, then will suddenly release and allow you to accelerate. Happens every morning, and lasts for about 5-10 minutes. Condition is worsening. Dealer "cleaned throttle body", but it did not fix the problem. I returned the vehicle to the dealer who said the throttle body should be replaced. Mazda extended warranty initially denied my claim for repair stating "not a covered part". However, they now say it is a covered part, but still have not yet agreed to pay for the repair. I was told that if I pay $100 that the dealer would run some type of cleaner into my gas tank, but with no guarantee it would work. This would not be covered by my extended warranty. A badly sticking accelerator pedal should now be classified as a safety concern!.

Gas pedal sticking intermittently & has occurred previously typically driving on highway at 65-70mph. Not something that happens daily.

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

I drive a 2006 Mazda Tribute. The vehicles gas pedal often gets "stuck" from a dead stop. The pedal is able to be moved but only after a significant amount of pressure is applied to the pedal. While pulling into my garage this occurred and I ended up running into my own trash can. The damage was minimal but this sticking occurs very frequently. Traffic lights, stop lights, and pulling into my own garage all seem to be burdens because of this issue. It is mostly a problem during stop and go traffic because the vehicle must be forced to go faster than the operator wants it to go in order to move. This means that I am lunging towards vehicles in front of me instead of being able to gradually ease forward. I believe it is even further more a safety issue while in parking lots due to pedestrians.

My gas pedal gets stuck whether it is cold or warm. This has been happening since 2007. I was told that it was due to carbon buildup and that a fuel injection cleaning was needed. My throttle bottle was replaced also. For the past several months, my pedal has been sticking again. This is quite dangerous since I cannot move forward at a light when it turns green and I cannot accelerate when already driving. I see that many people have reported the same issue to the NHTSA. I do not feel that I should have to replace my throttle body again within 2 years, especially if this is issue is widespread. Please review this issue for a possible recall.

The gas pedal sticks. You must press gas pedal abnormally hard and then when it gives the car lunges forward dangerously and unexpectedly. Requires repeated throttle body cleaning. Dealership recommends replacing the throttle body every time--a $130 part.

Have a 2006 Mazda Tribute 4cyl, and am having speed control issues when the weather is cold. The gas pedal sticks and will not depress, even when being stomped on. This issue occurs when the temperature drops below 40 degrees. It has happened when coming around a corner, or when driving in regular traffic, forcing me to coast to the shoulder, almost causing accidents. Please look into this model as well for a recall relating to this issue. Thank you.

Failure Date: 11/22/2009

The contact owns a 2006 Mazda Tribute. While accelerating at 2 mph from a complete stop, the accelerator pedal became stuck and slowly returned to the idle position. The failure only occurred when minimal pressure was applied to the accelerator pedal. There were no recalls for the failure and the manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 54,000 and the current mileage was 56,054. The VIN was not accepted.

Gas pedal sticks when engine starts up in cold weather and continues to stick until the vehicle is warmed up (30 minutes into driving). Causes car to jerk when starting from a stop. Acceleration is compromised.

Failure Date: 10/19/2009

In August 2004, I purchased a 2005 brand new Mazda Tribute SUV. At the end of 2005, I started having trouble with my accelerator sticking. I took it to the dealer for repair and assumed that this problem would never occur again. But, to my dismay, it seems to occur every year, especially when the cold weather arrives. I have taken it to the dealer several times for repair and I was told that I would need to come back within a certain amount of miles to have the throttle cleaned so the accelerator will not stick. Also, was told that this problem occurs with these type of vehicles. The throttle gets grime and gump in it and that's what causes the sticking. Recently, on last Friday, it began to stick again when I was driving into my neighborhood I could not get up on my driveway. I had to coast it along the side of the street and park it. Whenever this occurs, I cannot press on the accelerator at all, it will not budge and my car tends to lose power and begins to slow down. On Sunday evening, I was on the interstate when it occurred, very scary, I coast over into the right hand lane and over to the shoulder of the road, so I would not be hit from behind. On Monday morning, on my way to work, I was at a stop light and when I went to pull off after the light turned green, it would not move. This is so ridiculous, as I have to go to the dealer each time and pay for something that should have been a recall. I don't know if others have complained about this or not, but I decided to because I am afraid for my safety as well as others. This is very dangerous.

I have a 2008 Mazda Tribute that has a sticking accelerator, especially when the weather is cold. Even after the car is warm the accelerator will sometimes stick and will not allow the vehicle to accelerate. Today after driving the vehicle about five miles it would not accelerate when I tried to get on the interstate. This has been going on that I have noticed for about a year. It first happened October 2009.

The contact owns a 2004 Mazda Tribute. When she applied pressure to the accelerator pedal it stuck to the floor which caused her to crash into a building. She sustained severe bruising to her body, a broken leg and a foot. The vehicle has not been inspected to determine the cause of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 100,000.

Sticky accelerator sticks when gas pedal is pressed (from a full stop). Stickiness increases with colder weather. Causes a lurching action even when adding minimal pressure on the accelerator pedal. I'm worried that if the problem persists or gets worse with the colder weather, it may cause whiplash to any children riding in my car. Or worse - lurching into the garage and causing damage to my home. Or lurching in a parking lot and hitting a pedestrian/child. I have researched this in several auto forums and this has been an issue with far more consumers than Mazda is willing to acknowledge. It is a serious issue. If Toyota can address a sticky accelerator problem, why can't Mazda do the same? our lives, as well as innocent bystanders, are in danger!.

My accelerator has stuck on many occasions in this vehicle while driving, especially when cold. This has happened at various times on city streets and highways. I have never had an accident, but it does cause problems and could easily cause an accident. My vehicle is ten years old, but the mileage is only 75,500.
