Keys come out of the ignition when my Mazda Tribute is not in park. I forgot today that the front rotors are real bad and need replaced and I only have 41140 miles on my 2001 Tribute which I bought brand new from the Mazda dealer in town. I have to replace the front door handle twice now since it would not open from the inside.

I have always had an acceleration issue with this vehicle. Many many times, feels like the car is just not going to move when I try to accelerate. About 4 weeks, ago, car literally just wouldn't move when I was in traffic, the wrench light came on, indicating a transmission issue. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer, who found nothing. 2 days ago, exact same thing happened again, in traffic. We had the car again towed, and this time they foudn the throttle needed to be replaced. I think it was always bad, but 2011 was not a vehicle year included in the throttle recall for the Mazda Tribute.

The transmission lost 2nd gear and would not shift until the engine revs were very high, > 6000 rpm. My wife had to get off the highway since she could not go at highway speeds. Dealer said transmission was bad and needed to be replace even though the car was only 10,000 miles over the warranty. Their price for a rebuilt transmission was $4,130. I went to an independant transmission shop that was mor economical and he told me this is a common problem since the belts and hardware (rivets that connect mounting bracket) are too small for the vehicle. He used thicker belts for the rebuild but this is a common problem if you check sites like edmunds. Com. This is a defect and should be recalled and fixed by Mazda.

Car begin to shimmy between gear shifts felt like transmission was going to fall out on the road. Slipped between gear shifts intermittently afterwords.
Needed an overhaul of the transmission. Internal damage was done yet the car isn't old. The mechanics said they had a Tribute 2006 with the same exact issue, and then another shop next city over had again another Tribute same issue. When I'd drive it would no longer stay in gear until I turned it off and let it sit a while then would go again.

The contact owns a 2008 Mazda Tribute. The contact stated that when driving at any speed, the vehicle would jerk abnormally. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told that transmission coolant was leaking and causing the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 21,590.
When vehicle has been running for less than 10 minutes the accelerator pedal will not depress unless unusual amount of force or tapping of pedal is used.
My 2008 Mazda Tribute awd 4i gas pedal sticks in cold weather and sometimes in warm weather (exact problem compared to 2005 model year complaints). It happens usually when I get into the car on a cold morning and have not properly warmed the car up. A few times it has happened on the highway after I have fully taken my foot off the gas (say to brake) and then return my foot to the gas pedal. The pedal will refuse to push down even with my full body weight (240lb man) on the pedal. I find I have to jiggle my foot and step on the pedal multiple times to get it to go down. A few times I had to pull over and play with it. Every time I get it to the dealer, the problem goes away and they say there is nothing they can do for me. My main concern is that all the complaints from the 2005 Mazda Tribute are exactly the same as what I am experiencing and I am worried.
Oct. 2005: car purchased
January - March 2006: gas pedal began to stick, pedal would not move until significant pressure was placed on the pedal, causing a "jumping" motion traffic (15000 miles (approx)
summer 2006: dealership acknowledged problem, throttle body was replaced at that time. May - July 2009: the problem developed again, causing the exact same type of issues. (45000 miles approx)
July 2009: dealership acknowledged problem, replaced accelerator cable. Late July - Aug 2009: problem resurfaced only more difficult. (46000 miles approx).
