1 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2018

Fuel pump leaking fumes (and fuel?). While parked and preparing to come home the fuel pump failed and the car refused to start. It will not be repaired unless it is under the extended warranty. I am trying to learn if it will be covered under a extended warranty.

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

The car would not start fuel pump faulty and is part of gas tank bad design cost me close to $3800, some paid by mbz. Mbz replaced 2009 gas tanks for free under warranty but would not do mine. This is a bad design they should have told me about it so I would not buy the car. It is stupid to have to replace gas tank in order to replace a fuel pump in 2012 I had gas leakage from the same area and I paid to fix it they should have told me this would be a problem. Instead they kept silent when I take my car for service they always list of things to do so I can spend more money at the dealership why the [xxx] no body bothered to tell me about this problem that it would cost me a lot of money to fix . This car has cost over $60,000 to buy and I did not pay that kind of money for a car to last me only 12 years. Mbzs are supposed to last 30 years or more so ifeel cheated big time I think they are hiding this because they will get sued big time and I hope they do both the dealership and the mbz company. The dealership is mercedes banz of valencia in valencia, CA 91355. Phone number 661-753-5555. I have the necessary paperwork. I would like to be reimbursed fro all the cost, the 3 weeks without a car and fro the pain and suffering they have caused me and so it will be a lesson to mbz and their dealers not to pratice this fraud. I am available for an interview or more information as needed. Regards, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

3 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2018

The car would not start as the fuel pump was faulty and is part of the tank design. Mbz knew of the problem because they repaired or replaced some of the cars but I was never notified till the problem. It cost me under $3,800 to repair and replace the gas tank even though they repaired a lot of cars. My repair was finished on 05/14/18. I paid $3,409. 33 for the repair and I want to be reimbursed for it. I filed a complaint back in 05/31/2018 under the complaint number [xxx]. I need help to get my money back. This was a bad design on their part. Thank you, [xxx] the car would not start fuel pump faulty and is part of gas tank bad design cost me close to $3800, some paid by mbz. 4 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2017

After refueling my mercedes w211 I getting fuel leak fro the fuel pump. I found a info that nhsa closed case 2014 because mercedes extended warranty for 25 years regardless on mileage. They are telling that is not for my car. But I have issue like all those cars: plastic pump cover is cracked and fuel is leaking from the top of pump and running outside. Looks like total scam from mercedes side. They telling that my tannk is different and not covered by that extended warranty, but leak is from the pump and there is tons complains about same issue from thpse tanks too. For me looks that they extended warranty on cheaper repair tanks and not fixing expensive ones with same issues. Please, please help me because they wanna charge me 4200$ for this repair and not fixing under extended warranty.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2017

My Mercedes Benz E350 2006 failed to start intermittently due to fuel pump failure. My car was hit by an uninsured motorist, since then, my car became unreliable to start, my car falls into a metal type of fuel tank. There was a recall #08v303000 which states that in the event of vehicle crash, the electrical fuel pump may fail to deliver the needed fuel to start the engine, but my VIN is not on the list, however, during investigation ea 13-003 for fuel system, warranty has been extended to 15 years, warranty has been extended to 15 years with unlimited miles for the fuel pump on the subject vehicle. Penske refuse to honor the replacement of my fuel tank because according to the asst. Service manager, the warranty only affect on the plastic type of fuel tank. Is this really true? my car has 161,927 miles and he said the metal type fuel tank can only be replaced 150,00 or below. By the way, in order replace the fuel pump, the whole fuel tank should be replaced because Mercedes Benz systematically integrated and redesigned the whole fuel propulsion to avoid the nagging problem of avoiding the nagging problem of fuel leak from fuel pump. Please, I need your advice on this matter whether if the metal type of fuel tank of 2006 Mercedes Benz E350 is not included in 15 years warranty with unlimited mileage.

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

Leaking fuel pump, emitting gas odors in back seat for several years. Could not fill up gas tank or the smell is too much. Not safe to travel with friends in the car. Eventually the fuel pump stopped working and we were forced to repair it by purchasing an entire new gas tank including two fuel pumps which are enclosed in the system. Other mercedes like ours have had their gas tanks replaced or under warranty by mercedes, but they do not include our VIN number (?) it is exactly the same problem as the other cars. They refuse to compensate us for this unsafe problem that mercedes has refused to adequately take care of for the safety of their customers. We went to mercedes in temecula California a couple times during last year and this year asking them to take care of it. They refused. We didn't want the car and it's problems anymore so sold it after we paid more than $3,000 to fix their problem. We were recently informed that mercedes was offering compensation, so we had our mechanic submit all the documents for the mercedes factory original part that we had to replace, but again they refused to compensate us. They don't seem to be avoiding to take care of their unsafe problems with these models.

7 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2017

Heavy fuel smell inside car when parked or when driving, even more so if inside my garage. Went on line, saw that mercedes told NHTSA that it will extend warranty to 15 years unlimited mileage, and that they will cover fuel pump, fuel tank, and all related gaskets. Smell is even worse when tank is full! I removed rear seat and found gas seapage on top of fuel pump, and rear seat was wet underneath with gas. Will mercedes cover this?? will they give me a hard time I have loved the car but this is kind of scary as I take my granddaughter to school every day and drive it to work. There are wiring going to fuel pump and im afraid that it might create a spark. Please help, mike bordonaro, my email genuinechv@hotmail. Com.

13 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2013

Based on news items regarding mercedes-benz w211 (u. S. A. Model year 2003-2008 e class) vehicles experiencing fuel leaks, an inspection of the fuel system was performed on the above listed vehicle. Gross exam revealed no fuel puddling on the ground beneath the vehicle and a lack of fuel odor within the interior and exterior environment immediately adjacent to the vehicle. However, removal of the rear seat bench, underlying insulation pad and left fuel pump access plate revealed fuel odor; closer inspection revealed the superior outer aspect of the fuel pump assembly to be wet with gasoline; fuel-induced discoloration (white to brown) of the plastic comprising this superior aspect was clearly evident. Pooling of fuel within the left pump well of the plastic fuel tank was not present. The clamped black rubber fuel delivery hose was secure and dry, as was the outflow nipple to which it was attached. The plastic immediately adjacent to the nipple was not discolored. No remedial action was taken at this point, however, installation of a new style pump (delivery unit with fluid level sensor, m-b pn a211 470 41 94) and seal ring (m-b pn a211 471 05 79) is planned in the immediate future.

2006 Mercedes Benz model E350. Strong fuel odor emanating from rear area (trunk) of vehicle on the outside. Car would not start and towed by aaa to Mercedes Benz dealership/car repair. Aaa tow driver stated that the odor of gasoline was so strong he was tempted in calling the fire department. Mercedes benz service representative informed us at first that car was full of water. Originally the mechanic claimed he found a pool of water inside the car's trunk. The service representative informed the technician of our complaint of a strong odor of fuel coming from both inside and outside the vehicle. It was at this time the technician stated that he found a heavy pool of fuel in the trunk area of the vehicle. They were unable to identify the source of the fuel leak. They changed the gasoline tank and fuel pump but were uncertain of the actual cause of the leak. The vehicle remained at the dealership for one week. Mercedes benz service manager refused to acknowledge the fuel leak was caused by a factory defect and not by wear and tear of the parts and we were charged for all the repairs. We are aware that similar incidents have been reported for the same Mercedes Benz model in other states. We feel this needs to be addressed urgently before someone either gets hurt or loses their life. ## VIN passed ## Mercedes Benz E350 2006 ##.
