The rep at the dealership told me that this is a very common issue with these tires and he does not recommend them to anyone. The most recent blowout happened with I was driving 40 mph and I did not hit a pothole or bump. That tire was only 3 months old when it blew. In the previous 10 years, I had 2 blow outs on my previous. Please investigate.

5 Tire problem of the 2007 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 03/23/2018

My vehicle wears the insides of front and back tires. Have done wheel alignments, toe-ins and other remedies. The problem with this is that your tires wear down prematurely and the unsuspecting driver drives and the tires wear down to the threads and explodes. This is because they did not expect their tires to last half or less of the thread life due to this unusual wear, and no one can figure out why this is happening. Also, because of the area that it wears the average person would not even notice it. Vehicles going highway speeds (55-70 mph) could have blowouts and kill themselves and others on the road.

11 Tire problem of the 2009 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 04/19/2012

Bought a cpo car from mb west chester, PA and immediately noticed front tire(s) making thud sound that is more noticeable at 25-30 mps; although at higher speeds the thud sound continues. Dealer says tire treads are only worn 30%, but recommended new tires (which were supposed to be on the car!!). Manufacturer says it sounds like a flat spot on the tire. I even paid for extra warranty and still dealer will not replace tire. Very concerned for safety based on posts of blow-outs, etc. It's amazing that truck tires have been replaced for the same reasons, but not car tires.

12 Tire problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 11/30/2010

I bought the mercedes E350 2010 model on October of 2010 and about Nov 30, my left side tire is bust open secondary to pot hole gravel, the incidence is very scary, all the sudden car is I full stop and lean to the left side. I have to change the tire and went to the mercedes dealer and other tires shop for repair. Then I was heard this combination of tires 245/40 r18 97v which is rim is 18 inches and tires thickness in the side are to thin which make easily rupture with slight contact of any sharp. I am feeling of insecurity for flat tires anytime even I bought the newest model luxury car. I would like NHTSA for look into the dangerous combination of tires and rim for safety of all drivers in the road.

14 Tire problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 05/05/2010

Premature wear on the inside corner of my tires. This was ultimately discovered on all four tires. This lead to belt separation on all tires and a lost of belting on the left front of the car that caused driver surprise that demanded a dramatic emergency stop. This exposed me to highway traffic and almost caused an accident while pulling over in a shocked and concerned state. These tires were recommended for my car by the retailer and met both the speed rating and performance required. However, I don't feel they should be sold for this car based on my experience. They don't hold up to the challenging demands of this application. This failure is dangerous. Had it happened at night or on a wet surface, the consequences would have been much more severe. Note: this was on a car that was fully in alignment, with factory wheels and suspension. The car was driven only as a commuter. No racing or other extreme driving.

19 Tire problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 08/21/2007

My car, a 2006 mercedes E350 has had four (4) flat tires in about one year's time. I have had discussions with at least three other people who have experienced the same issue with their mercedes'. I have been told that this is due to the low profile tires on the car. They supposedly provide better handling but are more susceptible to flat tires when hitting minor potholes etc. Four flat tires in about a year is unacceptable from a safety standpoint. This car is unsafe to drive with these tires in place. The dealer does not acknowledge this issue.
