Hood Hinge Problems of Mercury Grand Marquis

I have a Mercury Grand Marquis year 2002. The hood will not close. I had a 1998 the hood did the same thing and the hood flew up on our way back from wyoming and almost caused us to wreck. It twisted the hood knocked out the interior lights, bent the top of my car. Thank god it didn't break the windshield. We had this fixed and it happened again 1 year later cracking the windshield. I can't believe I am the only Grand Marquis owner this has happened to and with 2 different cars.

I was driving on the NY thruway when I noticed the front of my hood was vibrating I had already traveled for over 200 miles I never opened or released the hood it came loose by itself,this has never happened before, I had to pull over in the break down lane to close it the hood had not been opened for service prior to this occasion.

On Jan. 25, 2006 I stopped at a rest area to put windshield washer fluid in my car. The hydraulics on the hood failed, causing the hood to slam shut on my arm. The hood latched and the latch was jammed due to my arm being caught under the hood. Two odot workers finally came to help me. They could not open the hood by using the hood release in the car, nor by using the release under the hood. They had to pry open the hood, for me to pull my arm out. My arm was pinned for 20 minutes. I have been left with a permanent disability in my right arm and hand. I am in constant excrutiating pain which I will have to live with for the rest of my life.
