1 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2007 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 07/09/2018

I was driving down a main road when the car just lost power could not accelerate. Pulled over to the side had to use e brake to stop. Turn off car try to turn it back on and it would not start only dash lights came on. Check engine. Had it towed. Mechanic diagnosis 1 of the back coils went bad along with ecm/pcm. Fried the coil on the plug fuse as well. Very dangerous and scary when your driving in traffic about 50 miles per hour. Car has 74,000. No warning light came on before this car has been maintained by Ford with oil changes and multi point inspects. This seems to be an issue with Mercury Milan but no recalls???.

3 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2008 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 05/05/2017

I was driving down the road when my car started running on four cylinders instead of 6. I was able to get it to the dealership via tow truck. They had to replace my powertrain control module (pcm) and a coil that was burnt. They followed the TSB 13-4-17 that related to the 2006-2008 Ford/Lincoln/Mercury pcm problems. Prior to this event, my car had not shown any signs of malfunction.

5 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2006 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 07/29/2015

As I was trying to pick up speed from 35 mph my car started to slow down an my check engine light came on. I immediately took it the mechanic to get the diagnostic test ran on it. It showed that I had a bad ignition coil and spark plugs. I bought the coil from Ford and when I got it put in my car 3 minutes later that same coil I bought exploded again! ima mechanic called Ford they said it was a recall on this cars pcm. I've read about this problem from numerous people. Ford needs to do something about this!!!.

6 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2006 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 02/03/2015

While driving at 40-50mph and then trying to accelerate to pass or go uphill the transmission would cluck out of gear and then slam back in violently. It was so violent that it snapped the transmission torque mount. When it does this the car lunges forward with loss of power and then snaps back when it slams back into gear. I took it to a transmission specialist and after consulting with sonnax technical support, the only solution is to replace the valve body and update the pcm/tcm with the latest software. However, they did say that there was no guarantee that this wouldn't happen again because aisin/Ford have not figure out how to fix the issue with the valve body, they keep throwing updates at the problem but buy then damage has already been done and Ford wont do anything about it. This is not just a consumer complaining, this is a consumer that believes that this is a safety issue and aisin/Ford should step up and recall this valve body and fix the issue at no cost to the consumer because they knew that there was a problem with that transmission but ignored it and kept throwing updates at it instead of doing the right thing and recalling it and fixing it. I should not have to pay to fix a faulty part with something that is not guaranteed to work. Ford step up and do the right thing.

9 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2007 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 05/23/2013

I was leaving work (5/23) on my way home when my car out of no where started to sputter. I pulled over and turned it off. I waited a few minutes and restarted the vehicle. It seemed fine so I drove it home. That evening my husband came home and started it to see what the issue was and it sputtered and shimmed again. Took the car to dealership on Friday (5/24) so they could diagnose it. I was informed that it was the coils and the pcm had to be replaced I am still without my car because Ford has yet to ship the part. It is my understanding that the pcm is on sales hold. It is now June 11th. This is not the first time my pcm was replaced. This is getting to be a costly situation and I need to know what Ford is going to do about this. They know there is a problem that effects the fusion, taurus, edge, Lincoln zephyr and mk and mkx, Mercury Milan and sable.

10 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2010 Mercury Milan

Failure Date: 04/23/2012

When driving, the car feels like it shifts gears, the wrench light comes on and engine power is lost. After pulling over, turning off the engine and restarting, the car drives normally. This happened multiple times in one day. Dealer reprogrammed pcm and it was fine for two months. Same thing happened on June 21, 2012. This is potentially life threatening problem because it has happened at highway speeds in rush hour conditions. Many consumer reports of same symptoms can be easily found on internet by searching for "electronic throttle control. " when I took car to dealer after most recent occurrence, they said their were no codes showing so there was nothing to fix. Ford needs to investigate why this is happening and recall/fix this problem before someone is killed or seriously injured because of this problem!.
