My car has shut off on me several times. The car will shake and then turn off. I can not start my car at will due to the defects. I have taken my car to get it looked at and no one can say what is wrong because it has to actively shut off and the wrench light needs to be visible when the run the test. So I took it to a dealer where I was told the throttle body needs to be replaced and it sounds like a power train issue. I wouldn't have bought this car if I knew it had these problems.

Traveling down the highway at 70mph car shuddered and lost acceleration and wrench light came on,got off on the shoulder, car was shuddering, turned it off waited a few minutes, turned the car back on and drove home with no problems. I thought it was a fluke, until today when traveling to work the car did the same thing, and again on the way home. It goes to the dealer tomorrow. . I don't need to tell you how dangerous this could be. I hope I make it to the dealer without an issue.
I was driving down the highway traveling at approximately 60mph when the car suddenly stalled and I was not able to accelerate. The wrench light came on at the same time as well. I turned on my hazard lights and was able to coast to the shoulder of the road. The car started to shake a lot as it slowed down. I turned the car off, and was able to start back up again. The very next morning while traveling a 50mph on a different highway the same thing happened again. I took it to the dealership to have a diagnostic run on the car as I had no idea why it was stopping. As I was about to turn into the dealership traveling at 25mph it stalled again. The result of the diagnostic test was there was a code stored in system of the electronic throttle body. It was giving a code for being stuck open when it should not have been. It was a failed component. . Read more...

It first occurred when I drove on the highway and it shut off when I was at a stop light. After waiting a minute I turned the car on and it started. The next occurrence happened when I was driving my vehicle on the highway going 60 mph it started downshifting until it stopped at 0 mph and made kind of a tutting noise until it stopped. The maintenance light came on and the car started shaking. Afterwards the check engine light came on. I turned off the car and waited a minute and tried to start the car up after. It took about a minute for the car to start up and eventually started up. I went about 35-45mph a couple of miles down the road and the car downshifted again and shut off. The car started shaking again. I then waited again and started it up again. I drove the car into a neighborhood driving 20 mph to park it up and it get it out of the way from being on the highway.
I made a left turn from a complete sign. In the middle of the intersection, the car decelerated and the wrench symbol on the dash came on. As I pulled over, the car started shaking and cut off. I had my children get out of the car because I was unsure of what was going on. I turned the car off, took the key from the ignition. I waited about 5 minutes and then restarted the car. I started and everything was ok. On 9/25/13, this happened while I was driving on a straight road. 9/28/13 - it happened while driving 65 mph on the interstate. 9/30/13 - after filling the car with gas, on a major road. 10/1/13 - just driving. 10/8 - making a left turn . There is not a warning before it happens.
I was driving around 70mph in rush hour traffic when all of a sudden my car started to shake a little and the wrench light came on. It went into limp mode and I was unable to accelerate at all. My car started dropping in speed dramatically. I pushed my gas pedal down all the way and there was nothing. The car was still running though. I couldn't get over because it was rush hour traffic. I ended up having to park my car in the fast lane as traffic flew past me. Very scary. The car rumbled while in park so I shut it off and restarted the vehicle. It came back on with no issue and the wrench light was gone. I looked it up when I got home and it looked like a bunch of people have had issues like this and it was their throttle body. I took my car into Ford and they said it was the throttle body and it needed replaced. Of course this wasn't covered under my cpo power train warranty. I got the whole thing done for $438. This part needs to be recalled ASAP.
On 7/26 the car lost all engine power on the highway and the wrench light appeared. After coasting to the side of the road, the car shakes until put into park. I shut the car off, wait a few seconds, restart and the wrench disappears as well as the shaking. I am able to continue as if nothing happened. Three more times it happens that day. A few days go by without incident. On 7/31 it occurs again three times following the same travel route as the days before, but in a 35mph zone insted. On 8/2 I take the car to a mechanic who diagnoses it as p2111 (faulty throttle body) and says he can't get the part due to a national back order. My faulty part is 9l8e-9f991-bc and I have called and looked online at several Ford dealers and am also told the part is on national back order with no firm eta. The car is not drivable until this is fixed.
Wrench light came on and car started shaking and sputtering and would not advance and I almost got rear ended. I feel this is a serious problem and needs to be addressed. Also the engine light came on. Thank you.
