1 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2004 Mercury Monterey

Failure Date: 01/22/2018

I was driving on the highway when the vehicle started slowing down and the gas pedal did nothing but rev, w/out any acceleration. I towed it to my house and now the transmission will not engage in any of the gears. My problem is a Ford recall and they told me it has already been done on my vehicle, what can I do?.

2 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2005 Mercury Monterey

Failure Date: 11/08/2016

I was stopped at a four way stop sign in my 2005 Mercury Monterey. Just as I pressed on the gas to move through the intersection, the transmission let go. I was fortunate that I could coast out of harms way. The car is now immoblie. This is the second catastrophic transmission failure on this vehicle. Transmission failed in July 2012 at 109k miles. Car was repaired according to Ford specifications. Second failure on 11-8-2016 at 170k miles. Without warning the transmission disengages and the car does not move forward. A second failure related to the same issue 60k miles after the defect was allegedly corrected is unacceptable.

3 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2004 Mercury Monterey

Failure Date: 09/04/2011

2004 Mercury monterrey van. Transmission warning light appeared blinking and could smell burning transmission fluid while driving up a canyon road. Stopped car off road and shut down. Waited 25 minutes to allow transmission to cool. Noticed some spill of fluid on road. Headed back down canyon road but only traveled 5 miles down when warning light came back on. After traveling less than 1/2 mile, van came to uphill climb and slowed down to a complete stall. No room or safe place to pull car over so coasted car backward hoping no other car would be approaching. Reached lowest part of road and pulled backward into private drive. Car never would engage again after waiting over 40 minutes. Had owner of property tow the van home which took over one hour down through dangerous canyon road. As it happened over labor day weekend, no place to drop van off for services. Car engine operating but transmission not engaging in any drive gears.

Failure Date: 07/02/2010

While on the highway and accelerating to pass a car, about 65 mph, transmission failed, and had to coast vehicle over to the side of road and stopped. In park, revved engine and no engagement of transmission was realized. Had to tow car to ford_mercury dealer. Dealer replaced transmission-do not know if old transmission is available.

Driving on a flat residential road at 30 mph my minivan lost power. The engine continued to run and the van rolled to a stop on the side of the road. The transmission would not engage forward or reverse. The van was towed to a repair shop and the estimate for the repair is $3000. Old parts are available.
