1 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2015 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 12/21/2019

12/19/19 I brought my vehicle to have 2 front tires replaced had them mount and balanced and a front alignment done. The dealer also completed multi point vehicle check. I get home. The car sits still Saturday. I start it Saturday at 1:30pm and get ready to pull out of drive way. Warning light comes on dash stating battery is not charging. Stop carefully. Consult nearest service center. I contacted service advisor. He stated to drive it back and they will give a loaner. I said no! the vehicle isn't drive able and I don't feel safe. He stated they close in 30 minutes. I wanted to speak to upper management. No one was available he stated. I said I would call back Monday december23 2019. I spoke to receptionist who makes appointments. She had available spot on Thursday december26,2019. I told her I will have it towed that Thursday. I get there told them about the message that came on dash. I was going to have to replace battery and needed a brake flush and OH by the way looks like your pulley went out. The vehicle only had 37,502 miles. I have never heard of a pulley being replace at this mileage. I contacted customer relations for BMW Mini that Friday. They said they will contact in 1 business day. They did say there is an open case. They will contact Jan 7. I was in a loaner for 6 days. I spoke to service manager tues 31,2019 which was new year's eve. She stated the dealership will give 20% discount and BMW Mini will still contact me if they are going to assist. I mentioned to them about the defected pulleys on 2002 thru 2006 models. They will look into it.

4 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2015 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 11/30/2016

I made a right turn from the main street, into the parking lot of a strip mall, then an immediate left turn, and another right turn into the right angle parking slot. All the while having my foot on the brakes, I started to shift into park, when it was in the right spot. The Mini instead coming to a stop, revved up, jumped the curb and hit the store in the front. The air bags deployed. I had my foot on the brakes really hard, all the time but the brake pedals were locked up. It would not move up or down. Sat hard on the floor! when the tow truck came, the brakes were still locked up and the gear was in park and couldn't be moved from there. The seat belts couldn't be retracted either. Mini engineer claims that there is nothing wrong with the car and I can safely drive it after the body is repaired. I am having a difficult time with this conclusion. The car's brakes and gear were locked up, and had to be lifted on a flatbed and taken to the repair shop; I still maintain something within the car malfunctioned.

5 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2010 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 11/28/2016

Purchase previously owned (by 1 owner, low mileage) 2010, Mini Cooper from dealership 2 years ago. Currently has only 70k miles. Last week while driving, timing chain failed subsequently causing $3100+ in estimated damages. First issue I have is how does a timing belt last only 70k miles on a supposed high-end, high-performance vehicle like Mini/BMW? every other vehicle I have ever owned (foreign and domestic) recommends changing timing belt around 100k miles, so the thought of changing a timing chain was for at least 20k more miles never crossed my mind. Second issue is a class action lawsuit has been awarded to Mini Cooper owners (same make and model) on or about 2010 for this very problem. However, Mini Cooper corporate headquarters customer service, and the only local Mini Cooper service center in san antonio texas has informed me that my VIN # was not affected by this settlement. . . Even though the cause and affect of the timing chain failure is exactly the same problem my Mini Cooper experienced with only 70k miles.

6 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2008 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 06/08/2016

At 55000 miles started to hear engine rattle and rough running at idle. Took to dealer for service and they said the engine has multiple oil leaks, a faulty camshaft adjustment solenoid and faulty timing belt. The timing belt has caused the oil leaks and faulty solenoid. This will cause catastrophic engine failure. Mini will not cover even though this has been reported and is an obvious defect.

8 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2009 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 10/21/2013

I am being told by knauz Mini repair that the timing belt needs to be fixed. It is a $2000 repair. In looking at the internet, it seems that this is a common problem that can have tragic consequences. In fact, there is one class action suit in NJ about it. Mini refuses to take responsibility to a design failure. Something needs to be done.

9 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2006 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 05/30/2013

I have an '06 Mini Cooper and never had any engine/transmission issues prior to today. All scheduled maintenance was done by the Mini dealer. Today leaving to go to work, I started the car, put my seat belt on, checked the mirrors, rolled down the windows, put the car gear in "d" and started moving forward out a parking lot, and after a few seconds while driving, the car lost all acceleration and came to a stop. Then the car won't reverse nor move forward while in any gear. Towed to the dealer and later was told it's the cvt transmission and it will cost thousands of dollars to replace the cvt transmission.

10 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2006 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 03/15/2013

70k and on my third serpentine belt ,battery light goes on and incredibly hard to steer left or right and car dies. When the belt shreds or breaks the car dies and only moves at below 5 mph ,only warning is a battery light . . . People buying this car for teens dont ! had to replace transmission at 30 k . . . If you buy this car used with low mileage get the transmission checked . Note : transmission check requires the engine to be pulled out and will cost $500. 00 oil pan constantly leaks. If vw is bad BMW /Mini Cooper is worse and getting away with highway robbery . Seat belts always getting twisted and require the need to pul off road to fix because they tighten and won't release tension. Look into driver and passenger leather seats falling apart . . . Waiting for side impact air bag to go off because of poor material and textile use . If it's rubber it rots or rats eat it because they can enter car engine without issue. With the class action suits ,service warnings, and recalls it looks like Mini Cooper needs a harder more intense investigation . In regards to exact dates I have repair bills ,class action info. Regarding transmission . . . Worthless as I have wrong year ,also car is on a constant cycle of malfunction . . . Brake lights and head lights constantly need bulb replacement . Please make Mini Cooper responsible.

The contact owns a 2006 Mini Cooper. The contact stated that while driving, a loud sound was coming from the engine. 12 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2002 Mini Cooper

Failure Date: 11/15/2007

2002 Mini Cooper with <55,000 miles (same owner) the shift cable detached from the transmission shift linkage while I attempted to change gears. Gear changes are no longer possible and the transmission remains in the last gear selected! prior to this -but within the last 6 months, all the window motors died simultaneously, the fan belt would not shut off, the engine continually overheated (despite repeated service by BMW), the horn fuse would not shut off (until it blew), and the transmition is slowly dying. 1) the fan belt would not turn off -continuously, draining the battery. 2) timing belt was replaced 3) the transmission is going 4) the power windows.
