The intake manifold cracked in Aug 2014 so I bought one and repaired it and changed three motor and train mounts drove for two months and cracked again right behind the throttle body it started stalling when come to a stop rough idle.

2 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2002 Mitsubishi Galant

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

The contact owns a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant. The contact attempted to start the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. He towed the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the intake manifold; however, the failure recurred eight months later. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they replaced the intake manifold again. This time the repairs only lasted two months before failing again. The vehicle is currently being towed back to the dealer. The intake manifold is prone to cracking where it is connected to the throttle body. Through research, the contact found this to be a very common issue with this year, make, and model vehicle. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls. The contact believes that a recall should be issued due to the manufacturer defect. The failure mileage was 126,000 and current mileage was 147,000. Updated 08/04/09. I was driving my car on my way to work when my car made this loud noise coming from the engine compartment and it stalled on me,and cut off on the middle of the rode. Called a towing company and had the car tow to my house ,I called a mechanic he checked and found the intake manifold was cracked.

The exhaust pipe started making a loud noise while driving. Vehicle was taken to a repair shop. Dealer indicated a crack had developed in the exhaust pipe. Also this was a common practice with these vehicles, and it may be a defect in this part.
