The contact owns a 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution. The contact stated that when the clutch pedal was depressed, an abnormal clicking sound emitted from the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and discovered that brake fluid was leaking inside the vehicle onto the floor board. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure and the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v446000 (power train). The failure mileage was 46,000. The VIN was not available.

I was heading to a class when I noticed my clutch pedal went almost all the way to the floor. The clutch was still disengaging/engaging when I shifted so I made it to my destination. I was worried about driving it but I decided to try and see if it was still doing it, so I tried to back out of a spot but it would no longer go into gear and the clutch pedal was all the way to the floor. Turned out my brake master cylinder was faulty and I learned through online forums and friends that it was a common issue with the Lancer evolution. I was surprised at that and wondered why Mitsubishi would not issue a recall for faulty brake master cylinders. It dawned on me that most people with this type of car are the "do it yourself" kind of person and more than likely were fixed by the owners of the cars, therefor never reported through mechanics or dealerships. After the master cylinder was replaced, the throw out bearing retaining clip came loose and damaged the pressure plate. So now it is being replaced, and I believe it was all caused by the master cylinder. Had it worked properly, I never would have had these problems and spending all this money. What I am hoping is that more owners come forward with the same issue and report them, and that it doesn't happen to someone while they're driving on the freeway or stuck in traffic. They could potentially lose hydraulic power to the clutch system and brakes, resulting in a hazardous situation that could damage to property or cause injury or death.

While coming of the off-ramp, the vehicle lost pressure in the clutch pedal. Upon further investigation, there was fluid leaking from the clutch master cylinder. It has been noted that clutch master cylinder in 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer ES (base model) is the same as one being recalled in 2008-2013 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution x. This is a second time the clutch master cylinder has failed and needs to be replaced. I would like for Mitsubishi corp. To look into the recalling base models for this issue as they have in the following sr-13-009. Failure of the clutch master cylinder reduces the ability to shift the vehicle into or out of gear, increasing the risk of a crash.

Indicated possible clutch failure/clutch pedal sticking issues to local dealership. Clutch went out before I was able to bring the vehicle in for service. I was charged $2700 out of pocket for a component that should have been covered under my warranty. I was issued a safety recall just recently for faulty clutch master cylinder issues for Mitsubishi motors. During my arbitration with the dealership back in November 2012, the dealership had deemed there was no manufacturer defect, when in fact there was a component that was affecting the proper engagement and disengagement of my clutch. I am currently exercising all avenues in seeking a refund for repairs. When I spoke with Mitsubishi they told me that its is not part of the same assembly when indeed it is; sharing the same fluids and lines this component was the sole failure point resulting in my power train damage.

My slave cylinder failed due to leakage from the transmission. As I was driving uphill and tried to shift into 2nd gear the clutch pedal just went straight to the floor and my car got stuck in nuetral. Its costing me 1000 dollars to fix it. There is a TSB out on this problem and I don't undertsand why this hasnt been made a recall yet??? it looks like a quite common problem for people and a costly one at that. Very unfair that we are having to pay for these repairs when this was a manufacturors defect.

I'll turn the car on and put it into reverse but the gear does not engage. The reverse light on the display panel just continues to blink. Another issue involving the transmission occurs when trying to accelerate. When applying pressure to the gas pedal, the clutch fails to engage causing it to slip when shifting gears. Also when trying to accelerate to pass another vehicle the car will not accelerate, the rpms just shoot through the roof further proving of clutch slippage. At this point, the car will lose the ability to shift to 2, 4, or 6 gear making normal city/highway driving very hazardous. When coming to a stop the car will downshift from 5th to 3rd and then to 1st putting tons of pressure on the brakes instead of decelerating the car gradually. The car actually hesitates at this point as if it does not want to stop. When accelerating from a complete stop the car will red line first gear and then shift to 3rd and repeat to shift to 5th gear. This is not safe at all, as I lose the ability to manually select gears. This has been an ongoing occurrence in my 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer ralliart since December of 2009, and it is now March 1, 2010. I have brought this issue to the attention of the service department without any help or acceptance of this being under warranty. There are several other cases where people are experiencing the same/similar issues. This transmission problems is a serious issue, almost an accident waiting to happen.

I took in my Mitsubishi Lancer evo to local dealer for transmission problem. This car currently has 3,300 miles and I'm having problems in shifting from second gear to third. At times I need to take clutch pedal out two to three times in order for it to engage. Some times transmission will not go into reverse also. Dealer had car for a couple of hours and indicated on their work order that the car had no problems while test driving?.
I was driving in heavy, stop and go traffic, when my clutch suddenly wouldn't disengage. I was unable to shift into gear, I killed the engine, put it in second, and started it back up, just enough to get back home. Right now the car in nearly undrivable, and this apparently has happened to a lot of other people.
I purchased a new 2003 Mitsubishi evolution viii with about 300 miles on April 28th 2004. Approx. 3 months later I noticed that the clutch started to slip in second gear. I then proceeded to take it to the dealership where I was told that the clutch was blown. At this time I had appox. 3200 miles on my new vehicle. I was then told that I would have to have a replacement clutch put in and that for them to even look at the clutch it would cost $500 for them to drop the parts needed to confirm this problem, which I thought was ridiculous because I was at trhe mercy of the dealership and Mitsubishi's sub-par replacement part. I had my car towed to a local performance shop where they instructed me to replace the clutch with a more durable and well know act race dics. In doing the repair also the flywheel seemed to be damaged so that was replaced as well. The car was not ever raced or ever abused or driven to any extent of wearing parts excessivly. This I feel is known negligence of sub-par parts used in this vehicle.

The day prior to the full failure of the part, I experienced loss of pressure in the clutch pedal in normal driving. The car's milage was approximately 43,000 miles. I was able to drive the car home by synchro-shifting to minimize use of the clutch pedal. The next morning full failure was evident as the pressure had dropped to the point where the car would not start. I was towed to the nearest service station by aaa where the problem was diagnosed as a bad master cylinder in the clutch. The part was replaced the next day and it was revealed that the slave cylinder was faulty as well. The premature failure of these parts lead to three missed days of work and a total parts and labor bill of $770. Both the master and slave cylinders in the clutch were replaced with oem Mitsubishi parts as no third-party manufacturer had them available at the time. The old parts are not available.
I have had problems with the clutch on this vehicle. I have only 7,000 miles on the vehicle. 5th gear synchros went bad. This is not acceptable. The dealership specifically advised they have had numerous complaints about this, and it should be recognized.
While driving at 65 mph consumer shifted gears and smelled a burning odor. Vehicle was pulled to the shoulder, and the consumer found that the push rod to the clutch was bend. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, who confirmed that the push rod was indeed bend.
Mitsu hq has circulated a service advisory to dealers to consider "any modification to vehicle for possible peripheral relationship to any failure. " verbally, service departments are saying that the total car warranty is voided by addition of any aftermarket modification. Addition of a-m stereo is considered good cause to void engine warranty -- complete car warranty. And that this advisory is being provided in writing to dealers. I obtained a copy. The advisory did not state "directly related" which would make sense, but allowed for warranty cancellation due to "peripherally related" which is anybody's guess. Suggest that this violates the magnusson act, and this practice by Mitsubishi should be investigated. Changing a catback exhaust system seems unrelated to a clutch failure, yet owners are getting warranty rejections for such minor modifications. Thank you.
Vehicle was experiencing a spontaneous a lack of acceleration while inadvertently losing power. There was a serious clutch problem. Manufacturer denied that there was any problem.
