It’s throwing a p084a code and it feels like the transmission is about to let loose. I bought the car with 30,000 on it in 2016 and it has a hair over 136,000 and ever since I’ve had it it’s always had this transmission lag jerk in it. Very scuttle but you can feel it. Then all of a sudden it just started going into limp mode, hi low hi low rev, jerking and couldn’t get over 30 mph. This looks like a continuous problem with these transmission and gives Mitsubishi a bad taste in some peoples mouths. I’m out of a decently nice car and probably a couple thousand dollars for a new transmission.

Recently the transmission has started to shudder when first driving from a stop. It only happens under low acceleration. If you push the accelerator pedel firmly it will not shudder. Wondering if this is a recall about to happen? it started on or about 4/2/2025 but is continuing to happen.
The car is bucking hi low hi low and then the service transmission light is coming on. We brought the car in a couple of weeks ago and I thought this was suppose to he fixed. It is alot worse now.
Purchased the vehicle with only 59k miles in may 2024. Transmission immediately started acting up, hesitating, jumping rpms, and delayed acceleration and loss of power. Service transmission light came on once but after restarting the light turned off, but still has the issues. Have had the fluid and gasket replaced but did not remedy the problem. This is very dangerous to drive, especially when crossing roads with loss of power and very delayed acceleration and rpms jumping to the point of wheels spinning out.
The contact owns a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated that after a while the system would erase any safety information used to track mileage and only show the gps feature on the digital screen with information from 2004. The contact stated he used the digital screen for the safety features. Upon further inspection, the battery would be drained at an abnormal rate while using the bluetooth features, and the bluetooth would not work outside of the local dealer parking lot. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the digital screen and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

Vehicle shudders and surges while driving almost rubber banding. Mechanic showing code for fluid pressure sensor. Call to local Mitsubishi dealer said transmission needs to be replaced and since we are 2nd owners the 100k mile powertrain warranty doesn’t apply. This vehicle has 81k miles and it’s already fried and Mitsubishi doesn’t care unless we buy a new one.

The front subframe(cross member) blew out, due to excessive corrosion. Causing the control arm to dismount as well as separation of the cv axle from the transmission, while traveling down the road losing complete steer of the vehicle. Luckily I was coming to a stop sign and not traveling on the highway. My vehicle was last inspected in April of 2023 with no warning signs of there being an issue. I've recently done some research and gathered information regarding models from 08-10 Mitsubishi Lancers having the exact same issue. I contacted my dealer about the issue and they stated there are no current recalls on my year vehicle. Although they also started that the part number on my subframe is the same part number that failed on the 09-10 models. There should be a recall on 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer subframe(front cross member) I hope this issue is resolved! I was fortunate to not have been injured! my vehicle has not currently been inspected after the accident because I had it towed back to my house after the accident because I was unsure what to do about the situation. The vehicle is available to be towed to be inspected if need be. A police officer did pass me and checked to make sure I was alright while I was stranded in the middle of the road while waiting for a tow truck.

The transmission has a severe shudder and lack of power. The malfunction occurs frequently and most recently has occurred while making a left turn in an intersection when the vehicle suddenly stumbled in the middle of the intersection with oncoming traffic nearing. The problem has been confirmed by Mitsubishi with a TSB released regarding the affected vehicles TSB-22-23-001rev, however, they refuse to do anything since the vehicle is no longer under warranty. The check engine light appears when the issues occurs, code "p084a" along with the "service transmission" indicator on the instrument cluster.
I purchased this car in 2016 brand new from the dealer. Have kept up with its maintenance but in the past couple of months, the car is not taking off. What I mean by that is that the transmission slips and won't allow the car to gain speed there is a delay in the car accelerating. This is the second time that it has happened this year and its very unsafe to use a car this way and its less than 10 years old.
Cvt transmission will not catch gears as it keeps slipping. Leaves it in limp mode. Unable to accelerate beyond 25mph. Cvt fluid/ filter service intervals have been correct as well as a fresh j4 cvt fluid/filter service at dealership. This had occurred at 103,xxx miles. Wildly, I was on my way in to my appointment with the dealership to do a cvt fluid/filter replacement when the issue arises. Of course, just after warranty had expired. Awaiting dealership to give a diagnosis.
The car started to slow down on its own even when my foot was on the gas it wouldn’t pick up speed over 20mph then it started to over heat, then smoke. It sounded like sparks like from a firecracker and smelt like something was burning to the point I had to pull over and turn the car off so my children and I could get out and breathe. When I restarted it turned on but would not drive when put into gear. I had it towed and the next day I tried again only this time the battery was dead and nothing was left on in the car I couldn’t understand how this happened so I bought a new battery put it in and it started still wouldn’t move though so I gave it a few days went to try again and the new battery was dead like something was draining all the power.

2016 se 2. 4l awc. Purchased car in February 2022 at 66k miles. In December of 2022 at 78k miles, car lost majority power while traveling at 40 mph, threw 'tranmission servie required' warning light. Drove 3 blocks home, parked for 2 hours. Turned car on and drove normally without lights. Previous event happened x3 before changing transmission fluid in February 2023. From February to may, roughly 500 miles, no codes occured. However, occasional hesitation when accelerating from a stop. Then, in may 2023, while traveling 80 mph, rpms shot to 6000, car began to lose power. Pulled to shoulder, turned car off and on, and was able to travel home without issue, another 15 miles.
I started to experience hesitation in the cars power and shifting “gears” in the cvt, it started to feel very rough and the rpm would jump up and down. The owner of the dealership tried to tell me it was normal. I knew something was wrong. I left the dealership and not even kidding… 20 minutes later my cvt gave out and the light came on. I purchased the vehicle with 27,700 miles. I was shocked, they had it replaced but I never received any paperwork on where it was replaced. The car started to feel fine for about 20k miles and then boom it’s back. I am going to take my car into the dealership once again and I am just not a happy overall owner. I have had over $21,000 in repairs on this vehicle! we’re talking from wiper motor going out to exhaust pipes needing replaced. The warranty company has luckily saved me with most repairs but I’m sure they are not happy either. I am now at 95k miles and on my way to take it in to see what’s wrong this time. The car has terrible acceleration and just doesn’t want to shift. I shouldn’t be feeling a huge jerk around 30mph from a cvt. I also told the owner of my dealership and his mechanics that their is a weird odor that smells like radiator fluid coming from the passenger floor. It’s completely soaked all the time and even has a weird texture to it. The owner and mechanics once again tried to make me feel stupid. This is unrepaired and has been happening since I bought the vehicle. I have been trying to get it fixed but I’m told “you spilled something” which is documented in the repairs notes. I just want to drive this car without something else giving out. I believe my dealership can’t give me the help my car needs and I’m concerned knowing I still owe $11k on the vehicle. Main concern - 2nd cvt failing (something was missed that’s causing this) - passenger floor boards wet (getting no help and being told I spilled something).
Without any prior warning lights or issues with the car. While I drove to work, about 10-15 miles away or 20 min drive, I came to a stop at a red light and when it turned green the car could not get into 2nd gear and would juts rev mostly in place. First gear didnt really have any pull. After a few seconds it finally took second gear but it jerked the car off causing it to stop very suddenly and thats when the service transmission light came on. I was stuck at the light for at least 5 minutes, can’t imagine that happening on the highway. I took the car to the dealership they said they found a code p183d which basically means I need a new transmission. This car has barely 90,000 miles and they are quoting me over $15,000 just for the parts. They privided me with a TSB which list my car as a year and model with known issue but told me the repairs are not covered by the manufacturer.

Car has 76,470 miles. Took to dealership due to loss of power and jerking hard during takeoffs and said that it needed new transmission. Dealership looked at it said it had internal failure codes for transmission. When doing research there was a recall in 2016 for this specific car for issues that this car is having and the specific transmission. Spoke with woman on hotline and was told to file a report since some cars could have been overlooked in the recall possibly. Recall was for 2016 Mitsubishi Lancers with cvt transmission and was made during the time frame that the recall was going on.
Our 2016 Lancer has suddenly started hesitating/ taking seconds to shift from park to reverse/drive. Also while driving vehicle its rpms fluctuate causing a shudder and surge in power or acceleration. This is a very alarming problem as it puts mine and my kids safety as it hesitates to shift and while driving it loses power and then powers up by itself. We have taken to a transmission shop (high tech transmission) and now a dealer (mission Mitsubishi) and both have replicated problem and pulled code but dealer will not honor recall or repair it. There was a safety recall for 2016 Lancers with a cvt8 (sr-16-006) that produces a code p084a as well which and that if both were present a replacement transmission should be approved. All information was pulled from Mitsubishi website, and I called them and spoke to carla did not give a last name and she advised me that our Lancer doesn’t have a recall and I said well is it possible you’ll missed some vehicles that have the same problem from the recalls you’ll have already put out? and she got snappy and said to contact safer car. Gov; so here I am, presenting facts to you'll that my 2016 Lancer may and hopefully is part of a recall which in result to not being identified or checked out caused more damage as stated it would on the manufacturers website. And needs to be fixed due to not being identified in recall so preventive measures could have been taken. Please our vehicle is experiencing the problem as a recall Mitsubishi put out but failed to identify our Lancer and now is experiencing hesitation in cvt trans, and shudder/surge in transmission.
I was driving on the way home, my car started to skip and jerking. Went to Mitsubishi and told me I needed a whole new transmission replacement on a 2016 Lancer with only 81,000 miles on it. It seemed to never catch up to speed smoothly. Which I was terrified I was going to wreck otw home that day.
It I not wanting to go or like ir catch gears.
All Mitsubishi Lancer evolution x models are having problems with the ayc acd pumps, this affects the stability and the handling of the vehicle specially in bad weather conditions because the system doesn't work properly in case of a slippery or bad road. The problem with this pumps begin with it's location because it receives dirt, water, snow and other elements that harm the pump. This should have a recall from Mitsubishi because it failed due to a bad design and location of it and it can cause serious problems for drivers specially in bad weather conditions, I will like this concern could be taken in consideration for all of us that are Mitsubishi Lancer evolution owners, thanks.

Front lower control arms -tearing bushings, torn boots both outer tie rod ends - torn boots timing cover separate.
The ayc/acd pump failure.
The ayc/acd pump on my vehicle stopped working. Vehicle on has 33,000 miles on it. The failure of this pump is well documented on the evolution x platform. There is current recalls for other evolution x years that should be expanded to include the 2015 model. The failure is do in part to corrosion caused by the location of the pump and the ability for water, snow and salt to get on and into the pump. My car is from the northeast where salt is a common thing in the winter. I believe this has caused the failure.
Vehicle hesitates during acceleration, car is equipped with a continuously variable transmission, hesitation is extremely severe at much lower speeds, often the car will lunge forward at a severe rate because the accelerator will be almost to the floor in an attempt to overcome the hesitation, vehicle does this every time, it isn't an isolated incident and I've already had a mechanic express concern about the transmission "shifting very funny" during a transmission fluid exchange done a few weeks prior. It doesn't matter if the car is on the highway or in a residential area, this issue exists.

I recently purchased a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer there is a problem with the cvt transmission overheating the light stating slow down appears on dashboard I have to pull off the road turn off engine and wait between 10 to 20 mins before im able to drive again there are many complaints regarding the transmission overheating on the 2008 ,2009 and 2016 from my understanding its the transmissions that were used on on those years of vehicles now weather or not its mechanical or poor designed transmissions the manufacturer should have put a recall on these vehicles the manufacturer should have a recall on these vehicles to replace the transmissions.
While driving on the highway I went to accelerate to keep up with my traffic and my car was slow to acceleration. While still driving I went to get off the highway, took an exit and after stopping at stop sign while my foot was on the gas to go the car didn't respond to go but then jerked and accelerated very slowly. There's was a recall on the cvt transmissions for Lancers but years 14-16 for this same issue but because my car doesn't fall into that recall my dealership told me there was nothing I could do. I've been driving the vehicle and this issues is only getting worse to the point where after driving about 60mph causes an transmission overheating alert within 10-15 mins on the highway and along with slow acceleration while driving on the highway and also stopping at stop signs the car does not accelerate right away.

The following is a result of a defective transmission fluid dipstick acknowledged by Mitsubishi and addressed by a service bulletin. They have not issued a recall of the dipstick. (https://mitsubishitechinfo. Com/data/tech_docs/2010/52005696/html/520056966. Htm) after driving on the highway at normal speeds, 70mph and under, the transmission overheated and a slow down warning appeared. I pulled over, lifted the hood and let it cool down for about 20 minutes; the warning had disappeared. I resumed driving at speeds 45 and under, and while driving up a hill the transmission whined very loudly and I lost so much power that the car began to slow to a stop on the road. I had to pull over to avoid being struck by oncoming traffic. The slow down light was not on, but I did receive engine code p0741. In another incident, I let it cool down on the side of the interstate then took an exit. With no slow down warning, I was attempting to make a left turn when the transmission whined very loudly and the car stopped moving forward. An 18 wheeler was oncoming and was not going to be able to stop. Thankfully, the car was able to make it safely out of the way, but it was close. I have experienced many similar incidents. The transmission has frequently overheated since I've had it when it had only 30,000 miles. The transmission fluid and filters have been regularly changed per the owner's manual. While it has a rebuilt title, there was only exterior damage and no part of the power train was ever damaged. I discovered the service bulletin from research and forums. Many others have experienced this issue, but most just assumed the fluid needed to be changed more than the manual recommended. The defect and the overheating that results is very dangerous as I've recently experienced. It's an original factory defect that is completely unaffected by mileage or wear and tear.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution. While driving highway speeds above 40 mph, the vehicle became very unstable and four wheel drive disabled displayed. The vehicle was taken to nimay Mitsubishi (1011 kennedy Ave, kilometer 2. 5, 787-622-0200) where it was diagnosed that the all wheel control hydraulic unit failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 41,000.
When taking off from a stop car has severe hesitation when accelerating and shifting. Its even worse when the a/c is running. I have taken it to the dealership multiple times to be told its the type of transmission it is (cvt). I know this is not the case when a person on a bicycle can take off at a red light faster then my car I know there id a problem. I know they recalled the transmission on years prior up to 2012 Lancers but the 2013 has the same transmission.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated that after coming to a stop, the vehicle would not accelerate upon depressing the gas pedal. The contact stated that the service transmission warning light would illuminate intermittently. Upon investigation, the contact associated NHTSA campaign number: 16v563000(power train) with the failure. The contact attempted to notify the manufacturer but his call was not answered. Bakersfield Mitsubishi 4600 wible rd, bakersfield, CA 93313 (661) 398-9422 was also contacted regarding the failure and a representative gave him information regarding an unrelated vehicle issue. The contact was given a quote for that repair and was offered no further assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 98,600. Jo.
Tensioner broke releasing the serpentine belt. Lost power steering, cooling and ac. Car stopped in the middle of the road. Immobile. Ended up taking ur to shop and they found the cracked tensioner and ruined belt that only had about 10k miles.
The ayc pump(awd pump) keeps saying it's going out and this happens to multiple people. A lot of other owners have the exact same experience. The pump needs to be relocated and replaced at Mitsubishi's cost. It's not fair to the buyers that we were paying for a car that we had to buy 1 $1700+ part and labor. It should be a safety concern because if the pump goes while driving it is a safety hazard. In winter of 2018 was my first year in snow with it. About February whenever the weather would get above 40 degrees, the tarmac light would start to flash signaling the pump is failing.
I purchased my vehicle with 200 miles on it at 700 miles took it in for latches and rattles. Since that hair every 8k mikes it needed a new clutch at 22k miles madter slave failed transmission started to give out at 28k miles. Please revive sawc every 1,000 miles I've owned that car Mitsubishi stated no problems found at this time. But it was very noticeable once driven. I worked for elder mitsushitty and they refused my warranty since I didn't have enough cash in my bank account to cover the cost of a repair if the warty didn't cover it under the warranty for some reason I don't know why they wouldn't of. So I had to repossess this car due to the issues and car max purchased it and mission mitaubishi could not diag it even though carmax took it in for the transmission popping out of 4th gear. I am the only 2015 mitaubishi certified sales associate in austin texas. And the dealership neglected my concerns so I had to repo my vehicle and quit due to repairs hey where trying to force me to purchase another and roll over 20k upside down they sold a stolen evo for msrp of my used car. This evo killed me and no one knew how to simple work. Carfax has yet to sell it since mission mitaubishi could not diag something I could, or carmax. Also called fire department 6 times due to car smelled like raw fuel due to fuel leak 3 times taken to service in 3 years. Mechanic freaked out from the smell when I brought it in but was unable to locate fuel leak. I memorized the VIN from how many times I took it into service.
The awd diff. Actuator pump is out.
On 09/15/2018 at roughly 11:30 am while operating my 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution x with 32,xxx miles I experienced a loss of power, increased exhaust noise and the illumination of powertrain fault lights on the instrument cluster. After pulling off the roadway to inspect the issue a small engine bay fire had been found (chard paint/insulation and a still smoldering wiring harness). After ensuring that the fire was out and safe the vehicle was brought to the dealership that it had been purchased from (mangino Mitsubishi of clifton park) and dropped off. The car is useless in its current state and had to be tow from the dealership to a storage facility where it has been ever since. But I refuse to report the damages to my insurance because I should not have to cover damages caused by bolts that were installed improperly at the factory. I have spoken with the technicians and service advisers at the dealership. They've informed me that a failure like this should never happen if the bolts are properly installed and that they don't see why it wouldn't be covered under warranty. It is my belief that Mitsubishi is trying to avoid blemishing there reputation and is refusing to admit to a fault that caused a fire in a vehicle. I don't believe this is an appropriate way to run a business. It is unsafe and unethical and am asking for assistance to receive the benefits of the warranty that I paid for.
