36 Power Train problem of the 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 08/02/2018

About a month ago service check engine light has been coming on and throws code p1875(damper speed sensor) . I've been told by Mitsubishi there is no fix for this other than purchasing a new $15,000 sst transmission from them. The car is not even worth that much by now. How is it that Mitsubishi does not have a fix for this issue?.

Vehicle has cvt transmission and when the car and engine are cold the transmission will not move the car. Car revs to 1500-2000 rpm amd will eventually begin to creep forward. Car only had 75,000 miles but as we are the 2nd owner Mitsubishi will not warranty although the original owner warranty is 100,000 miles and there is already a tecall on this same transmission in the outlander.

38 Power Train problem of the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/15/2017

I bought my 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer in Nov. 2014 at long lewis Ford in florence, al, where I received all regular maintenance and service performances for it. On sept. 15, 2017, I was driving down the road in my 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer and experienced complete engine failure (while in motion), creating a safety hazard. Once the system failed, I could no longer accelerate and could only "coast" to try and find a safe spot to brake. When I opened the hood, the main relay had caught fire, was black, burnt up, and melted on the inside. I couldn't get my car to go in neutral or any systems to work to get it completely off the road, creating another safety hazard, and had to have it towed. A sales tech met me with a new relay that I purchased. The new relay did not get my car moving again because when the relay (that was in my car when I bought it) caught fire, it caused damage to the computer/ecm. When giving the part numbers from my relay and ecm/computer for replacements, the parts specialists and I realized that the part numbers for the computer/ecm matched only a 2015 computer/ecm, and there was not a matching part number for the relay as that exact one was unobtainable, and a different one that was compatible had to be purchased. I have recently learned that there is a recall for the 2015-2017 Mitsubishi Lancer relays because there is a defect in the relay which causes complete engine failure. I would appreciate an investigation being performed to see if the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancers should be included under this recall as I have experienced the same relay issue, safety hazard and concerns, and also due to the fact that my 2014 Lancer has a 2015 system in it. I need to make certain whether the relay that was put in my 2014 Lancer when built, and when replaced, was/is not defective. Please advise if I need to direct this safety concern to another appropriate administrator.

39 Power Train problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 08/27/2017

The contact owns a 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The contact then stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. After multiple failed attempts to restart the vehicle, the contact towed it to his home where it remained in his possession. The contact called the manufacturer on multiple occasions and was initially informed that his vehicle was previously under NHTSA campaign number:16v563000 (power train); however, no further assistance could be offered because of the prior repair. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

41 Power Train problem of the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 07/20/2017

Bad injector caused cylinder failure or valvr constant valve tick. Blown spark plugs caused piston meltdown causing for the pistong rod to shoot throught the block cause a fire to the engine. . Luckly I stop the fire took it to a delaership to verify the cause of the damage but the technicinas told me that theres nothing they could do because the battery die there for it reset the computer module erasing all the data with the probable cause and nothing was done after that. . Bought a new engine and now after 20,000 miles I get the same issue but Mitsubishi dose not wanna be resposible for a replace engine to which they replace.

42 Power Train problem of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 07/14/2017

Cvt transmission; vehicle has 45k miles, no recall was recorded for my VIN but I clearly experience the stated symptoms of the communication loss between the transmission. When accelerating from a stop there is a brief "hesitation " failure to move. When highway driving, attempting to accelerate to pass there is also "hesitation ". My last concern unmentioned by the manufacturer is the constant over-heating of the cvt transmission. In many forums around the world it's a constant issue, the consumer is forced to repair with aftermarket add on transmission coolers, fluid changes, etc. Most highways around my home require 70mph speed limits, I travel 50 miles for work each day, the over-heating has cost me time and money and local dealerships refuse to consider the work warranty. It's a factory defect in design and should be corrected via manufacturer responsibility.

45 Power Train problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 03/22/2017

I have been driving this car for a couple of months now and every once in a while very randomly I experienced a loss of acceleration completely. It happens after a long period of driving and when I'm coming up to a stop sign and going to accelerate again after doing research online and taking it to my dealership they will not do anything because they cannot figure out the problem I found a recall on the NHTSA website for my vehicle with my VIN number included in the range of in numbers experiencing this exact problem. I need help getting my dealership to acknowledge this because it is not on their website. I have almost been rear-ended multiple times because of this problem and I am afraid for my safety.

46 Power Train problem of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 03/22/2017

Ayc pump failed code c161e. I searched online and found out that the pump was failing due to salt corrosion. This should of been a recall since nurmerous of other cars are having the same issue.

47 Power Train problem of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 03/19/2017

The vehicle "stumbles" during acceleration after complete stop or after making a low speed turn. The issue has no systematic regularity and was not associated with weather conditions, type and origin of gasoline, or any common road conditions. This car was checked by green country Mitsubishi dealership at bixby, oklahoma two times. No malfunctions, defects, or error codes were detected. So far, none of the incidents occurred on a highway. Although, several times, when the car unexpectedly lost power while leaving a street light, it made the vehicles behind break abruptly. Fortunately, there were no accidents. After the car's engine is shut down for a couple of minutes, the issue is gone for a day or two.

48 Power Train problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 01/10/2017

I have noticed an issue with my cars acceleration from a 0 mile per hour starting point to a 30 mph. It is very sudden and random. It has occurred several times from a stop at a traffic light or a stop sign. There is a second to as long as 4 second hesitation in acceleration. Accelerator pedal is pressed and the car takes off for a brief second or 2 before the few second hesitation occurs. It can be dangerous if this occurs when pulling out on a busy highway with traffic coming. For those few seconds there is nothing you can do but press the gas pedal harder when though the car is not doing anything. After those few seconds the car transmission kicks in and you eventually have control in acceleration once again. Took to the dealer today. They said no recalls on the vehicle. Online I see a similar recall on the outlander transmission but service tech says he checked and nothing on the Lancer. They drove my car and of course it don't happen. It's very random. It usually happens once a week. It has prob occurred about 10 times if not more. There is no way to expect it so now I have to take extreme caution when I'm about to pull out on a busy road with traffic coming my way. Has anyone else had this issue with their Lancer?.

51 Power Train problem of the 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 12/12/2016

The contact owns a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer ralliart. While driving approximately 20 to 65 mph and changing lanes, the contact attempted to downshift from sixth to fifth gear; however, the gear shifter failed. The instrument panel displayed "transmission service, check engine light". The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fork shifter fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

52 Power Train problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 10/05/2016

Loss of power on acceleration, rpms going up and down, hesitation in acceleration, going into limp mode won't accelerate over 25-40mph pulled code p084a shop believes it needs a complete replacement based on their computer systems repair procedures guidelines. Car has just over 107k miles on it and is a pre-owned. 53 Power Train problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 10/04/2016

Mitsubishi Lancer dct470 sst transmission recall - my transmission lost even gears while driving home from work. The car selected a lower gear and the check engine light turned on. I pulled over to troubleshoot and eventually made it home. This costly repair forced me to buy another car and have since left the repair unattended. This is a known manufacturer defect. The problem is so common that a petition was started to help those others that were also affected by this issue. The problem is a shift fork magnet becomes dislocated from the bracket and will not allow the transmission to select even gears. In order to repair, a specialist must disassemble and rebuild the case. It is not caused from any maintenance neglect nor driving habit or abuse. It can occur in all models with this specific transmission. It is a worldwide issue including canada & australia. I have not yet repaired my personal transmission and hope to do so in the future. The car has been parked since the incident occurred. Maybe with your help Mitsubishi can rectify this problem for me, all those affected, and prevent it from happening to future owners. . 54 Power Train problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/06/2016

Takata recall since I bought the car the acd pump has been fine. Back in September the red triangle came on and I did some research to find out what it meant. I barley drive the car because of the issue. It seems several other people have had this problem too. Mitsubishi wants to charge me $800-$1200 to fix it. I refuse to pay this amount after seeing everyone else has this same issue.

55 Power Train problem of the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 08/29/2016

After about 35,000 miles a warning light came up saying asc service required. After further inspection it turned out to be that the awd pump was out. The light comes on meanwhile I drive around.

56 Power Train problem of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 08/08/2016

Acd/acy recall. I purchased my 2008 evo with 95000 miles on it. Shortly after I bought the vehicle I was having issues with it running lean and my ayc service light appeared on the dash. I then took the vehicle to the dealership with 96000 miles on the car in hopes for them to help me fix these issues with my car and yet there was no help at all. So then I went on my way and I had another dealership fix my problems and I was good for about 4200 miles my car then had 100,200 miles on it and I had to go to the dealership to get a rear diff fluid change in the transmission oil change and the dealership then told me that there was a extended warranty for these ayc pumps and and never told me about this issue when I was in six months prior to this I contacted Mitsubishi themselves and they said that they would do absolutely nothing for me even though the dealership told them that I was there before hand with the same issue and they didn't do anything about it. I feel like I was scammed and it's horrible to have to fight with Mitsubishi about a pump they can risk my safety and the others in my car . I was screwed out of warranty that I was never told about .

57 Power Train problem of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

59 Power Train problem of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 02/02/2016

I brought my car into the dealership in 2016 for a flashing taramic light and they told there wasn't anything wrong. Which I later found out that they negleted to look into the issue. I had no idea what this issue was until 6 months later and I just had reached 100,500 miles on the car. I found on a form it could be the a fluid issue, so I went to Mitsubishi to get fluid and the service manager informed me of the 100,000 mile warranty. I eventually took Mitsubishi to court for negligence and lack of care and the case was thrown out. I'm sick of dealing with this issue.

60 Power Train problem of the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

Acd/ayc pump has completely stop working in my vehicle. I took my vehicle to be service and the person who was doing the service on my car told me that the acd/ayc pump has gone out and I need a replacement. I found that weird, because I have not driven my car for roughly about a month and for an issue to pop up was very weird. After doing research, I seems that multiple people have the same issue were these pumps go out unexpected. There are only 1400-1600 of these cars made year in the states and to see many people have this problem in the u. S. And around the world mind boggling to many of us. Mitsubishi needs to find another solution or remedy to this issue. Since I live in the south, my local dealership is not wanting to cover this and I travel along the east coast with my car.

62 Power Train problem of the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 01/06/2015

4wd system service required light came on with less than 40000 miles, this was caused by a malfunctioning acd pump. Pump is located behind the rear right side tire and is exposed to elements. Car was in new york state for 4 years and driven on snow/salted roads. Pump has corroded. This is a known problem with the ralliarts and evolutions. Dealership refuses to cover under the power train warranty, they say this is a luxury item and also becuase there were modifications made to the car. The modifications made have no impact on the corrosion of the pump.

63 Power Train problem of the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

While driving normally the message "4wd system require service" came up. I bought the car used 40k miles and now it only has 43k miles. I have driven mildly since I bought it and have never abused the car. I heard it's caused by ayc acd pump failure, acd c161e.

64 Power Train problem of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 12/05/2014

Vehicle was in cold weather, ayc system light turned on. I checked the forums and found that this is a common issue that indicates the pump is bad. This is a very common problem.

65 Power Train problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 11/13/2014

4wd service required light popped up immediately when accelerating. Acd pump may have failed. Mitsubishi does not cover this as it is not "part of the drivetrain". Can be dangerous when pump goes out.

66 Power Train problem of the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 10/17/2014

On September 2, 2014, I purchased a 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution gsr. On October 17, 2014, with a little over 2700 miles the service/maintenance light comes on and I drove the car to Mitsubishi to have them check the car out. On October 21, 2014, I returned to dealer and the car was immediately was driven inside and placed on a lift to be inspected. I was told by the service manager that it would be a longer wait then expected due to Mitsubishi's head office being located in California, and time zone difference. I was not given a loaner car, standard practice on a brand new vehicle with full warranty and he ( svr. Manager) did not give me any information while I waited. The next day, I received a call from VIN from Mitsubishi service department who told me Mitsubishi, wants to get authorization from me to break down the cars engine/transmission in order to move forward and it would cost me $1100, if they saw that it wasn't a defect on Mitsubishi's part. I gave the authorization and was called again by VIN, who advised me that the car had a defective seal and the car is covered under warranty. On October 22, 2014, at about approx. 4:25pm I received a call from Mitsubishi service department to give me a new update on the defective parts and repairs. VIN told me that the clutch & fly wheel had burned out and that Mitsubishi was no longer going to cover repairs, which had now reached $3,200. This is an expensive car from mitsubshi; we bought it with 11 miles on it and it is inconceivable that a brand new car can have such defective problems. Mitsubishi is not upholding their responsibilities and we feel we have been sold a lemon. How can a vehicle go in for an oil leak and suddenly have all these major issues? October 27th I was told by the district manager of Mitsubishi that the car was not going to be covered and Mitsubishi told me to "do as you please. ".

67 Power Train problem of the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 10/05/2014

Acd c161e was read in the ecu. It's ayc acd pump failure. I didn't drive hard. I drove normally which I usualy do. And 4wd service required comes on. I searched a lot about the issue. Mitsubishi should have a recall about this its a common problem for evo I read.

68 Power Train problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/30/2014

Shortly after starting the engine; take a turn left and then made¿¿; I turn on the abs light shortly after engine light lit too and, days later, the abs light went out. The next day I started the engine; running the car at 15 to 35 miles, sounds a hit; in the transmission and abs light comes on again. This has been doing so far.

69 Power Train problem of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 09/24/2014

When starting my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution gsr, I received a warning message on the cluster display showing a yellow-orange symbol that shows 4 wheels connected by axles and the middle-shaft, where the front two wheels are facing at an angle to the side. The error code read as c161e: dtc c161e: electric pump relay circuit system (stuck). This has become a very common issue with the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution. So common that when you search for the code c161e, you can find countless forum discussions on multiple websites commenting on the frequency of this issue. . Read more...

70 Power Train problem of the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

The issue first presented itself as a flashing all wheel control indicator light at approximately 35,000 miles while on the highway. It was initially an intermittent issue that occurred only occasionally. I arrived home from my trip and was at the dealership at 36,200 miles. Their scanner indicated a c161e code which indicates an acd pump actuator lock. The dealership stated this can happen under aggressive driving conditions and was normal. However, after informing them the issue occurred while cruising on the highway and also when stopped at a light they informed me to return if the issue persisted. I returned a week later after I confirmed the issue occurred every time I drove the vehicle, but they were unable to read codes because their diagnostic tool had broken. At 37,000 miles the vehicle displayed a message indicating I needed to service the all wheel drive system. The nearby dealership's scanner was still broken. At 37,900 miles I arrived at a different dealership and they found the codes c161e and c161f which indicates an acd pump failure. During the time since the issue first began I also noticed the traction control didn't appear to function. In wet conditions when I lost traction I did not see the dash indicator for traction loss / traction control nor did I feel the system kick in to compensate. I believe this presents a potential safety issue. This appears to be a common and well documented issue, especially in areas of varying climate. The root cause in my scenario is most likely volatile local weather where winters involve heavily salted roads and temperatures that range from warm to below freezing in the same day. This can lead to premature pump failure due to a known issue with a pump seal and rust.
