1/ at about 207000 miles check engine light came on. Dealers diagnosis and 2 other repair shops :
catalytic converter has to be replaced. Cost for this job: $ 1500. I did not replace catalytic converter and was performing normally. This happened first time in my life, that catalytic converter gives up
during the life of the car. 2/ at 246,570 miles while vehicle was on, would not go into gear. Dealers diagnosis: car needs clutch assembly and resurface flywheel and clutch slave cylinder. Cost for this repair: about 1,200 plus tax
again 1st time happened to me that car needs clutch assembly work with slave cylinder during the live of the car. 4/ while they checked the car for gear problem they recommended to me to replace timing belt: cost $ 723 plus tax and
replacing valve cover gasket: cost $ 264 plus tax
I believe they ripping people off, because while replacing timing belt
they have to remove valve cover and they should not charge 2x
for removing valve cover. This was estimated by Mitsubishi-Mazda dealership in san bernardino, CA. I'm questioning their prices and ability to properly diagnose and do this repairs based on the statements they made and their prices. After every time this car is serviced at Mitsubishi dealer this car have more problems: screws missing, broken parts, engine check light comes on. I need from Mitsubishi motor of north America inc. List of good repair facilities where the car can be repaired not sabotaged, where they have knowledgeable technician not monkeys. I had a few cars, but never happened that catalytic converter or clutch needed to be replaced during the life of the car, or I had to spent few thousand of $$ for repairs while maintaining the car properly during it's life.

First occurrence happened while attempting to leave a convenience store. Clutch went to floor of vehicle, and did not know what was wrong. Since 1st occurrence it has happened regularly approximately every 3-4 weeks. For the last 8 years. Clutch become spongy and requires me to refill master cylinder with brake fluid. Several occasions I have been driving when the occurred. Car loses ability to shift due to clutch not engaging gears. I must be attentive to fluid levels to prevent it from happening. Has been diagnosed as slave cylinder problem.

Failure of 5th gear. Mitsubishi has a current TSB released on this failure and denied repair under warranty. The warranty claim was denied due to the fact that an aftermarket clutch, of higher quality was installed on the vehicle after failure of manufacturer installed clutch.
When driving my vehicle the transmission does not shift gears properly. Normal operation of the vehicle leads to slipping transitions from gear to gear making it difficult to maintain/reach/sustain speed. This occurs in both highway and city environments. I have had the car serviced according to manufacturer's recommendations of every 3000 miles. I have about 40000 miles on the vehicle at this point. It started doing this at about 6000 miles. I have had the vehicle checked multiple times. When taken to the dealership they informed me nothing was wrong. I have changed the transmission fluid as well as all filters. I was told this is 'normal' for the car. I do not think however that this is a typical behavior for new vehicles.
When driving my vehicle the transmission does not shift gears properly. Normal operation of the vehicle leads to jerky transitions from gear to gear and results in the inability to gauge the amount of pressure need to maintain/reach/sustain speed. This occurs in both highway and city environments. I have had the car serviced according to mfg'r recommendations of every 3000 miles. I have about 35000 miles on the vehicle at this point. It started doing this at about 4000 miles. I have had the vehicle checked multiple times. When taken to the dealership they informed me nothing was wrong. I have changed the trans. Fluid as well as all filters. I was told this is 'normal' for the car. I do not think however that this is a typical behavior for new vehicles. I have also had a problem for the past 1500 or so miles with my breaks squeaking. When I try to stop or pull out from a parking space they have a squealing sound. I have also had this evaluated at the Mitsubishi repair shop and was informed they are fine.
Continuation of odi#10023954--within 2 weeks of repair on transmission (replaced valve body)--car repeated the same symptoms would not kick into gear to get on freeway or would jerk and lurch, slipping and sticking. The dealer replaced 6 parts on the outside of transmission--never looked inside for internal damage even though an independent mechanic told me there was probably internal damage when the valve body failed.
