[see odi 705306, my problem is identical] the front brake discs are woefully inadequate for this car and I believe a manufacturing design defect. We had to turn the rotors twice after buying it, within the warranty period (36,000 miles). Mitsubishi says it is normal wear and tear. I have replaced the rotors. They warped again and the new rotors have been turned once and are making noise again, and the car shakes during braking, indicating they need to be turned yet again. During high speeds, if I apply brakes, the car vibrates badly, and is a major safety concern if I had to brake suddenly. The disc rotors wear out very fast, and are too thin and warp easily.

Was driving 35mph & applied brakes which were going up & down. They failed to stop vehicle. Would shimmy or shake when making turns. Was going down hill, and went into a skid. Crossed double line to the left while trying to go right. Steering was uncontrollable. Another vehicle "t" boned the vehicle on passenger side. Air bags deployed. Vehicle was only 34 days old.

Brake pads have been replaced every two months since July 2000. At every incident dealer changed brake pads and rotated rotors.
Front brake disc pads wear out at a very high rate. Also, this will be the third time this year rotors will have to be replaced. This time they connot be turned again. There is absolutely no reason for the disc pad life to be this short. I have a two-year old vehicle, and bought this car to replace a car that was having problems. This car is worse. The dealership has been no held at all stating brakes are not covered under warranty. You would think the dealership might realize there was a problem with the car quality since the pad life is so short.
I had a after market accessory added to the car. However when problem occurred I had the accessory disconnected so we could find the true problem. Dealer did replace the actuator and that temporily fixed the problem. My brakes squeak and the dealer said that they build up a thin layer of rust when the car sits even for a short time. Thus causing the squeaks. If this is true why don't you hear every car squeak as they stop at a light?.
