1 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2017

My Nissan Altima was in a 4+ rollover at @65 mph, west bound on I-8 near boulevard California about dawn and just east of sandiego . When a sudden rain downburst, the car hydroplaned and left the road and proceeded to roll 4+ times. I have yet to see the accident report. The front driver and passenger airbags did not deploy and neither did the driver side door bags. The passenger side door bags deployed but the passengers do not recall them airing up. Usaa has the vehicle in sandiego somewhere. I feel the passenger side and driver side airbags should have deployed in a multiple side rollover. . . . The occupants were at huge risk but for the grace and hands of god, they walked away, though I feel that the chp should have forced a 4 young adults to go to the hospital, instead everyone leaving the scene after gathering luggage and such. Injuries are unknown, but typical of being rolled at high speed numerous times, being shaken, bruised, skeletal alignment disrupted etc. . .

2 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2015

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Altima. While driving 15 mph, the contact's vehicle was struck by another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to the neck and back and was transported to the hospital for a respiratory issue. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to the dealer. The failure mileage was 129,000.

3 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2014

On October 31st the red airbag light started flashing on my dashboard. I took the vehicle into my nearest dealership on November 13th to complete a diagnostic. I was informed that it was that there is no signal coming from the passenger occupancy sensor for the airbag and that in the event of an accident the airbag may or may not deploy. Also it was noted on the invoice that there is no sign of any damage to the wiring. Of course my vehicle is not under recall and no longer under warranty. My dashboard is also melting and the material that is used causes extreme glare. So not only do I have a large glare across my window which increases my risk of an accident but possibly no airbag to boot. I contacted Nissan since this exact same issue has been found in other years of my model and recalled. All Nissan has continued to do is say my vehicle is no longer under warranty and that they will forward my complaint for review.

4 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2014

The passenger airbag warning light stays on at all times, and now this week the supplemental airbag warning light has been flashing. I took it to a mechanic and they tell me that the passenger airbag is malfunctioning. If the car was in a collision and someone was seated in the front passenger seat, the airbag would not deploy. I have taken the car to the Nissan dealership, while this car was under warranty with same complaint, but they could find nothing wrong. Funny, how 2013-2014 Altimas are being recalled for this exact problem, but the earlier model years have not been.

5 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2013

Son was hit on the right side and front end and the air bag did not deploy on the steering colum he was killed.

6 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2013

My 2009 Nissan Altima dash is melting. Dash has cracks as well near the front passenger air bags and near the instrument cluster. Read in forums that the car dealerships say that when the dash has cracks and is melting air bags could not deploy correctly. Nissan will not replace dash due to the car being out of warranty and expect me to buy a new one when this seems like a manufacturing issue not taken into account as part of the design.

7 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2013

I was traveling westbound on the interstate when a Chevrolet silverado truck cut into my lane and stopped abruptly. I did not have time to react and rear-ended the vehicle. My car ended up under his bumper with major front end damage. My bumper was dragging when I pulled to the side, both headlights were broken, the hood was damaged, and the radiator and transmission were leaking. The grill was smashed in and was behind the front bumper. I was traveling at at least 40 miles per hour. I bought the car brand new in 2009 and it had less than 40,000 miles on it. This is the first accident I have ever been in. The other vehicle left the scene of the accident. I was taken to the hospital for head and neck injuries. The airbags did not deploy. The police, fire, and tow truck driver all said the airbags should have deployed.

8 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Altima. The contact stated was driving 35 mph when he was involved in a crash. The front driver side air bag did not deploy. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vehicle was safe to drive and the air bag did not deploy because the air bag sensor was not close enough to the battery area, where the vehicle was struck. The VIN was not available. The failure and the current mileage was 27,000. Updated 12/13/lj.

9 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2010

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Altima. When the contact was seated in the front passenger seat the side air bag activated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to have the seat bottom and sensor replaced and that did not remedy the issue. The contact called the manufacturer and was advised that she does not weigh enough to activate the air bag and she was seated improperly. The contact stated that she weighs 140 pounds and the passenger side air bag should not activate. The contact fears that if she were involved in a crash that the passenger side air bag would not deploy. The failure mileage was 30,982.

10 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2010

On July 27,2010 my vehicle was approaching a corner and trying to come to a stop. A truck was approaching perpendicular heading north. I motioned for the truck to take the right of way before making my turn. My foot was on the brake pedal, but the vehicle would not stop, resulting in the truck hitting my vehicle in the left front side, causing considerable damage. In addition the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle is now in the body shop. Nissan na has been contacted , and planning to investigate the problem concerning the brakes and airbags. Insurance is estimating body damage.

11 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2009

My husband and I purchased a Nissan Altima 2009 sometime around October 2009. We immediately had problems with the "airbag turned off " light coming on even though I was sitting on the seat correctly and I weigh around 135 pounds which is more than enough weight to ensure that the airbag off light didn't turn on. I took my car to the dealership and even though I had video on my cell phone showing the problem occurring, I was asked to go on a ride around to see if the situation would repeat itself. Because the light comes on randomly, and repeatedly, during that 10 minute ride it did not turn on. Needless to say, after much insisting, Nissan went ahead and replaced the sensor on the seat. This resulted in no change to the problem and I ride half the time with the "airbag turned off" light constantly on. I am afraid that if I ever get involved in an accident, the airbag will fail to deploy and it will result in my having a serious injury or death. I have not personally spoken to Nissan since the sensor was replaced mainly because on the initial contact of the problem, they didn't seem to believe me even though I had video proof. I did want to make sure that this problem was reported just in case others are having the same problem as me.

12 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2009

2009 Nissan Altima 2. 5s - passenger airbag disabled light comes on when a person is sitting in the passenger seat indicating that the passenger airbag will not deploy in any situation. The passenger meets and passes the weight requirement and is seated correctly. We can not produce this issue on demand. Environment doesn't seem to matter. Shape and size of the passenger doesn't seem to matter either. Dealer replaced the seat bottom 6 or so months ago. Didn't fix the issue. My wife and I were blamed continually for months (10 or so) as being the cause of the issue. I documented with video and they still said it was our fault. One day we almost got hit and I the Nissan dealer I would hold them liable. That day the disabled light remained on and we were able to show the dealer. After that an engineer game in to check the car. They said the system works are it should, we were not doing anything wrong and they couldn't find a fault. That engineer submitted the issue up the chain to the Altima engineers in the USA. It has been two months now and no resolution has been made. Nissan has told me they are re-engineering the seat bottom and a replacement part will be produced. It will take time they say. My wife and I have had this car and complained about this issue from the first month we owned this car back in Sep/oct 2009.
