2 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2019

The airbag warning light is flashing indicating there is a problem with the airbag system. A scan of the vehicle shows a problem with the occupant sensor which is the sensor in the passenger seat. This is a problem with almost every year of Nissan Altima and there are multiple recalls for this problem but Nissan said this vehicle is not included in the recalls. This is ridiculous when they obviously have had continuing problems with this part.

Airbag warning light on dashboard. Have replaced passenger seat with malfunctioning seat sensor twice within last 5 years. Now getting a warning of airbag malfuntion for the entire vehicle. Vehicle does this at rest and driving. My vehicle doesn't fall under takata recall, but right now car is unsafe for my entire family.

The airbag warning light illuminated on my dashboard, and when I took it to the dealer, I was told that the OCS system for the passenger seat had failed, and I would need to pay $2500 to replace the cushion seat. This issue appears to be related to an airbag recall involving 2013-2016 Altima, as well as other Nissan vehicles the passenger air bag is disable due to a sensor malfuntion that is very dangwrkus if you are involved in an accident.

5 Warning Light On problem

The passenger side airbag on/off warning light (yellow) on the center of the dash lights up intermittently. This occurs even if someone is sitting in the passenger seat at the time indicating that the airbag is turned off.

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

The airbag warning light illuminated on my dashboard, and when I took it to the dealer, I was told that the OCS system for the passenger seat had failed, and I would need to pay $3500 to replace the entire seat. 8 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2014

When my husband gets in the passenger seat the supplemental air bag warning light flashes. I had my husband get out the car, and then I did he reset of the airbag, and the light stayed off for 8 minutes until I had my husband get back in the car, as soon as he got in the car, both airbag lights came on. When researching it, I found the same thing happened to another Nissan which was recalled but not for my year of 2009 Nissan Altima.

9 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

The airbag warning light comes on, meaning that the passenger airbag is disarmed, while my wife is sitting in the seat. This means if the car was in an accident, the airbag won't deploy and could cause more injury or death. There is a recent Nissan recall for Altima 2013-2014 for this same defect. The same issue is plagueing my 2009 Nissan Altima.

10 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

Passenger seat airbag sensor malfunctions with someone sitting in the seat, the warning light comes on that passenger airbag is disarmed. Very unsafe. Tires tpms valves constantly leak even after service. Replaced 3 out of 4 of them, and 4th one needs to be replaced.

11 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2011

On multiple occasions since taking ownership of this 2009 Nissan Altima 2. 5 s sedan, the passenger airbag warning light has come on, meaning that the airbag was disarmed, while a full sized adult was seated in the passenger seat. On the most current occasion, my wife was sitting properly with only her legs extended when this occurred (seatbelt was on properly too). I took a picture of the warning light, my wife seated in the passenger seat with my camera phone to show to a Nissan service center, as I had hoped they would fix this defect under warrantee. The Nissan dealership could not replicate the warning light, so they said they would not be able to fix this issue. Doing some research both here and on other sources, there was a major recall of some 200,000 Nissan Altimas in 2007 and 2008 for this very same issue. The worry that I have is that god forbid we are ever in a collision, that the airbag might not be there when we need it most. The feature is added in the Nissan Altima to guard against small children or preteens who are seated in the front passenger seat from airbag-inflation related injuries. What it has done is put the lives of many Nissan Altima owners in jeopardy. Shame on Nissan for not designing this feature poorly or not removing it from their design entirely with the previous history of recalls in prior years. This defective seat sensor system needs to be replaced, recalled, or fixed in my opinion.

The bottom portion of the front passenger seat was replaced but the failure continued. The contact was informed by the manufacturer that they were aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 16,877.
