1 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/09/2015

2013 Nissan Altima recall notice malfunction hood release which could cause a collision. Well happened to my daughter on August 9th, who had my permission to drive my car she by the way is 28. I was never notified of this recall, however my friend that leased the same vehicle two months prior at the same dealership, was notified. My daughter was just getting onto the expressway doing approx. 20 mph if that when the hood of my vehicle "released" and blew up against the windshield to where she could not see at all. Luckily god was with her and she was able to pull over safely. My vehicle is still at a Nissan dealership as of today, August 26th, collision shop still sitting in the same spot that it was towed to. Over 6,000. 00 in damages for a recall that I should have been notified and Nissan should be praying and feeling blessed that this horrific accident and believe me it was horrifying to see that people were not killed, shame on Nissan corporation for me not receiving the recall notice, shame on Nissan for not figuring out when my car was in for service that my VIN number showed nothing or it was ignored, recall notices are connected automatically to any numbers whether car, appliance, car seats, etc. , come on we are living in 2015. Shame on Nissan that this is not important to them to help me. I have dates and records of communication and am trying to reach out and try to make this public however I am at a stand still and need advice and help, thank you!.

2 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2015 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/02/2015

I drove this rental car and parked it inside my detached garage at 7:30 pm. I neglected to push the start/stop button upon exiting the car. Consequently, the car continued to run. At 10:30 pm, needing a tool, I went back and opened the garage door. A rush of hot air hit me in the face. To my horror, I realized that I did not shut the car off. Garage temperature had to be about 120 degrees. Who knows what could have happened, had the car run all night. I think there's a simple easy inexpensive fix to this. Solution:require all auto manufacturers, utilizing the keyless ignition option, to, mandatoraly, equip all vehicles with an automatic shut off if a car idles in park (transmission sellection) for more than 20 minutes. This safety option should not be able to be over ridden by customer. I'm just thankful that my garage was detached. Carbon monoxide deaths via keyless ignition are easily avoidable.

3 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/14/2015

My door behind the drivers side doesn't open and we have tried everything, I have taken my car 2 a dealership and they worked on it for over an hr, and they couldn't get 2 open. And until my door is fixed, I can't get it inspected. And this is the only vehicle I have. I need my ddor fixed or formula Nissan needs 2 replace my car and put me in a different vehicle. This has been an on going thing, and I don't have the money 2 pay someone per hr. As I live on a fixed income.

4 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/12/2015

Forward is rusting underneath on the driver side and passenger side, have always had my car serviced when needed oil changes regularly washed regularly taken care of very well an all highway miles majority of the time. Keep having to repair the air conditioning system as well been spending lots of money lately I understand problems arise over time but the rust underneath the vehicle is a safety hazard considering I drive a lot of miles on the freeway. Found out this is a major problem happening with hundreds of Nissan Altima owners with these year models. I have been recommending the Nissan too many people I love this car and now I am afraid to get another one and I had planned on getting another one so if this issue isn't helped and taken care of I will look to purchase a different kind of car.

5 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/07/2015

I noticed a large amount of rust/holes forming under my 06 Nissan Altima with 80k on it. It's all in the floor boards, driver and passenger sides. In first noticed it back in the summer of 2014. . . . A few months after I bought it from a Nissan dealership. They said they couldn't do anything. I saw the news today about the same issue I noticed. We need a recall for safety. Cause it will become one. I will sue if my foot goes thru the floor.

7 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/16/2014

I was driving and I heard a clunk that did not seem to affect my driving ability or stability of the car. However, later that day when I turned on the cars heat; it would blow but only cold air was coming out of the vents regardless of the temperature setting or mode setting. My mechanic replaced the 2 thermostats but that did not fix the problem. This problem was a sudden onset and was not gradual in nature. My mechanic speculated that the heating coil became clogged but to replace it the cost would be in excess of $900. I'd also think the clogged system would have caused a more gradual decline in heating function.

8 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

Blind spot sensors are going off when raining! we had this checked out by the dealer twice and nothing was done. On second visit I was told this was going to happen during inclimate weather as it is normal. There were several other complaints as well I let him know this was unacceptable. There was no mention of this in the auto manuals nor from the sales staff. I purchased the extra safety features to keep my family safe. These features are needed especially during inclimate weather. We have no confidence in our equipment's safety features as they are misleading.

9 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/12/2014

I purchased a brand new 2014 Nissan Altima sv from baker Nissan north in houston, texas (19630 northwest fwy, houston, TX 77065 (281) 890-5656). My transmission has failed twice (replaced the first time and now having to be replaced again) and I have been getting the run around from the dealership. This issue should not be occurring with a brand new vehicle. Then to top it off I have been a loyal customer and have purchased a total of four cars from this dealership now. I filed a consumer affairs report with Nissan corporation and have yet to hear something. I also called the dealership again to speak with someone in charge such as the general manager and they informed me to contact the consumers affairs department with Nissan corporation. They said they have a chain of command to follow and that would be my best bet of getting the situation resolved. I would like this situation to be investigated and justice. I do not spend my hard earned money to have a car that is not operating properly and could put my life and others in danger. It comes down to the fact that this car is a lemon and I should be given brand new transportation or the dealership should purchase the car and pay off the loan and let me take my business elsewhere. I also have copies of my maintenance records for documentation purposes. Thank you in advance for your time and effort. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

10 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/26/2014

On may 26, 2014 approx 9:30am while driving at normal highway speed in eastern PA. In my 2013 Nissan Altima 2. 5 sl, we heard what sounded like an extremely loud gun shot type sound right above the car roof. After slowing down and visibly shaken including my 2 occupants we slowly pulling back the sunroof liner that was closed at the time. It was noticed the entire sunroof had blown out of the car onto the highway and trunk area. The remaining glass was bulged outward like the glass was pushed outward from inside. There was no indication whatsoever of impact from outside the car. The roof, trunk and rear spoiler were covered in small shards of glass with many noticeable deep scratches from the glass impact. We stopped at the Nissan dealership in wilkes barre, PA and showed the dealership the problem we just encountered. The dealership cleaned and covered the damaged sunroof and advised us to drive slowly home until you could contact your local dealership. They could give me no reason why this happened or had never heard or seen this problem. I notified my local dealership when I got home and brought the car in for service. I was advised from my dealership after they claimed they contacted Nissan motors and the local Nissan area rep. That they could not give me any reason why this would happen. They told me they usually don't cover glass breakage but called it a good will gesture and would replace the smashed sunroof at no charge but refused to fix the damaged paint that was caused from the glass hitting the roof, trunk and spoiler surface.

11 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/02/2014

Traveling on the highway at about 70 mph, the air bag indicator went off signaling that there was no air bag. The next day, it went off signaling or indicating that there was no air bag, but only on the passenger side.

13 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/21/2014

Lost power while driving at 55mph on a freeway. I was informed by the service department of the Nissan dealership that my transmission had a defect and needs to be replaced.

14 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/04/2014

My dashboard is melting because of the sun. I contacted the Nissan dealership and they said they can't help me because my warranty expired. It is very difficult to see out my windshield because of the shiny glare from the dashboard melting. This makes driving extremely hazardous.

15 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/12/2013

When the front passenger seat is occupied the passenger air bag light is illuminated indicating the air bag is not activated. This issues has occurred since purchasing the vehicle. I have reported this to the dealership at the 3500 & 7500 service intervals. At the 3500 miles service the action was verified that the sensor was properly calibrated & working properly and should not happen again. The next day the light again came on when my 138 lb son was riding. Although this does not occur every single time a passenger is riding, it does occur frequently. At the 7500 mile service I again notified the dealership of the continuing issue. The issue was again verified that the system was working properly. The dealerships response was that the issue was related to using the specified components (seat cushion & sensors) that the NHTSA requires manufacturers to use, leading me to believe the issue is with government specs and not with Nissan. If so, the question then would be why doesn't this occur with every car that has an air bag in it's seat? this is the first car I have ever been in that has this issue. With exception that this same issue occurred when I rented a 2013/2014 Nissan Altima recently on a trip. Additionally when I asked, none of my friends or family have ever heard of such an issue. This issue is not resolved.

16 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/14/2013

I got Nissan Altima 2013 in Sep. 2012 and since then I have been taking this car every month to dealership for airbag off indicator, which remains lit even when passenger is seated with seat belt on. This has happened multiple times and weight of the passenger ranged from 130 to 180 pounds. The most serious of these incidents was, when I drove my car for 15 miles (2 miles on city street and 13 miles on freeway). So far, I have been told by dealership that there are no error codes, they would reset some sensors but it hasn't made any difference. I was told it could have been because of the way passenger was sitting, so one time I asked passenger to jump on the seat, that 180lb passenger was jumping in the seat but the airbag off light still remained on. I noticed there are multiple complaints about this issue, and I hope these complaints will eventually get desired recall attention.

17 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/06/2013

Rusting floorboards.

18 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/23/2013

I've called several times in reference to this and got the run around. Also called my insurance and they kept saying to call or go to you. Dashboard is still sticky and being asked almost $1500 to get it fixed. I would like for this to get resolved.

19 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

I love the fact that my car has the heated steering wheel and for paying so much for this vehicle to have this wonderful feature you would expect it to work. Well it did for the first month, but I used it alot, usually on highway trips when it would cut off I would turn it back on, then about a month after that I noticed it was only getting warm at the top of the steering wheel and not the rest. Then a little later it doesn't even get warm anymore. I have taken it to service at ltleast 2 different times, and they just tell me that it is normal. But in the armada, and maxima they loaned me while my car was in the shop those seemed to work fine. Their answer to that is that in the Altima it reads the temperature inside the car to determine how hot it gets. This is not the problem because in March of 2013 here in northern va we had a big snowfall. I went to my car at 3:40 am the day of the snowfall, and started it. It was about 28 degrees outside, and the inside of the car felt the same. I turn on the heated steering it I never felt it the entire 30 miles I drove. To me it feels like the electricity is not getting to any or all of the heating element. Nissan says to take it to another dealership, but all the dealers around me are owned and managed by the same.

20 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/18/2013

Driving on street when moonroof shattered. No apparent cause determined, but was raining at the time of the failure. Break of moonroof sounded like a gun shot with glass fragments going both inside and outside of vehicle. Driver and front seat passenger covered in glass, but no injuries. However, roof and trunk had paint damage from broken glass.

21 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/07/2013

Well the main selling point on this vehicle is that the dealer told me they were top in mpg's with 27 city and 38 highway. After a week or so I noticed that my mpg average is no more than 23. 1. And that was with more than 50% travel on highways with no traffic(never went under the speed limit). I figured it had something to do with it being new and it would average out better later. So after 5,000 miles on the car I took it in and they told me that this is just because every driver averages different and I kept saying but I am not even getting close to the 27 city and I drive more highway. But they told me that everything is normal and they reset the average calculator. After a week it was worse than it was before and I was bringing it back for my many other problems I have with this car. They had my car for 4 days and finally told me that while they had it a check engine light came on saying that my air fuel ratio sensor was faulty. They replaced it and told me that was the fix. I have put about a tanks worth of mileage on it since and I am getting uner 23 mpg still. Either something is very wrong with my car or Nissan is lying about the mpg's and yes I get that they are presented by the epa but Nissan does the test first then sends it to the epa and then the epa tests later on. Either way the mpg's are wrong and I drive to try to get the best mpg's I don't even go over 2,000 rpm's unless going up hill. Which brings me to the vibration fromt the trans. But thats in another complaint. Nissan needs to fix this problem becasue I chose this over the Honda accord just for the mpg's.

22 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2010 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/16/2012

On Sunday, 12/16/12 evening around 11:15pm, I was driving home from out of town and had to pull over for gas about 45 miles away from the house. I turned off the vehicle and filled up the gas and the car would not start once we were ready to leave. The abs and flip lights would blink and the battery would power up but the car on the push button ignition would not respond which would start the car, I called the towing company and I was charged $173 for towing to the dealer as the mechanic was not able to start the vehicle either. The following morning, I received a call from the dealer stating the brake pedal switch which when pressed with the key fob in the vehicle allows the car to be started when pressing the push button ignition switch; that switch attached to the brake harness had gone bad and I was given a cost of $232. 64 to replace this switch. The dealer stated that he was showing in his system that this switch was redesigned recently and the new redesigned switch which would include replacing the brake pedal harness also would cost me a total of $531. 17 and he stated that he recommends the new redesigned switch over the lesser expensive same type of switch that went bad which would be at risk of going bad again soon. I escalated the issue to Nissan consumer affairs at 1-800-Nissan-1, case #10255931. I requested them to cover the expense as I had exceeded the manufacturers warranty only by 3000 miles and had bought the car brand new in may, 2010. They researched the matter and declined to cover the expense due to a previous brake rotor issue I had escalated to them 3 months after purchasing the vehicle which was a separate issue. I hope no one else is stranded as we were with my wife, my twin 3 year old boys, and myself at 11:30pm at night far away due to a blown out switch which has now been redesigned, I am asking that a recall on this be opened up.

23 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/30/2012

My car it would not start. There was absolutely no activation of the ignition system. After following all trouble shooting advice in the car's manual, I towed the car to dealer where they stated an open circuit in steering control unit is not telling the control unit that the steering wheel is unlocked and ready to start. The steering lock control unit (part# 487009n00b) needed to be replaced. This is all part of the vehicle anti-theft immobilizer system. The cost to replace this unit was $1,062. 90. I feel this is a serious safety flaw in the 2009 Nissan Altima. 1. This was a fully functioning car (except for anti-theft glitch) that left me and my daughter stranded in a very remote area. 2. Nissan promotes how safe, reliable and economical their cars are, but the anti-theft system can disable the vehicle leaving driver stranded with only one option, which is, to be towed to a dealer because of ant-theft system glitches. 3. The car, being economical, should not require an over $1,000 repair because of an anti-theft device circuit malfunction. 4. There are several conditions that can occur that will result in the Nissan Altima becoming immobilized stranding drivers. I am stating only one. This is particularly dangerous especially to female drivers. 5. I feel that Nissan should come up with an override code or device that will allow a driver to escape from potentially dangerous situations that were created by Nissan's vehicle immobilizer system. Especially when the car is fully functional except for an anti-theft immobilizing circuit falsely telling that the vehicle is not ready to start. I believe this is a serious safety flaw in their vehicle security system.

24 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 1998 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/19/2012

Gas goes in very slowly when added to vehicle, then there is an overflow from back of pump before the tank is filled. I was told I have problem with evaporative emiussion control system vent control circuit.

25 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/16/2012

My brake light randomly turns on/off regardless of the speed I am going. Also when I apply the brakes, it is definitely a rough and jagged slow down, compared to previously owned vehicles. Nissan should take responsibility of the issue, otherwise their reputation may suffer from this. I am hoping word of mouth and individual research will result in more documented incidents, and the NHTSA will grant a long awaited recall.

26 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

Passenger floorboards completely rusted through opening a 16in long by 8 in wide hole in passenger floor. No other rust anywhere else found on vehicle. Appears rust originated around floor plug. Exhaust fumes can enter the cabin of the car.

27 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2010 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/06/2010

The light indicating "airbag off" for the passenger seat is frequently illuminated even when an adult (140 lb) passenger is sitting in the seat. The occurrence is approximately 10 percent of the time and occurs at any speed, even on the highway at 65 mph. This error has persisted throughout the life of the vehicle (purchased new in 2010), but the dealerships we visited insist that the system complies with their electrical tests, even though we showed them photographs of the "airbag off" light taken by a passenger while sitting in this seat. Nissan needs to be made to issue a recall to correct this life-threatening error.

28 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/25/2010

I have a 2003 Nissan Altima. This car is burning oil like crazy. There's no smoke or anything of that sort, but I have to keep an eye out and put oil in my car to keep it running at least every 4-5 days or so. Gas is high and oil is getting higher; I have to keep at least 2-3 quarts in my trunk. The check engine light has been on for sometime now. While driving on the interstate if I go over 70mph the check engine light starts blinking. When I take my foot off the accelerator the check engine light stops blinking, but continues to stay on. However, I just had my spark plugs changed and now the car won't start. Please I need some help ASAP. . . . I don't have money to purchase a new one at this time, but wish someone can tell me what is going on. The dealer is no help whatsoever. They get you in there and tell you that this, this, and this is the problem. It seems that nothing is under warranty with Nissan, and I don't own the car as of yet I'm still making monthly payments. I think that Nissan needs to go over the engine, electronic, and etc. Because canton, mississippi is the home of Nissan and you have some big problems on your hands!!!.
