1 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/05/2008

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact started the ignition and the gear selector failed to shift from park into the drive position. The gear would not shift from drive into park. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. The failure was related to the gear shift solenoid. The technician stated that the failure was contributed to orange liquid spilling into the console causing a wiring shortage. The estimated repair cost was $922. The contact stated that there was no liquid splilled inside the vehicle. The failures occurred intermittently and became progressively worse over time. The dealer advised the contact to rock the vehicle in a back and forth motion to allow the gear selector to shift into the selected gear. The contact would engage in the rocking motion of the vehicle which would temporarily correct the failure. In addition, the vehicle would stall without warning. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they would not be responsible for the repairs. The vehicle wad not repaired when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. 2 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/26/2006

: the contact stated while driving 65 mph on the interstate, the occupant accidentally touched the center console floor gear shift which caused it to shift gears and operate at a reduced speed without warning. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined this was the design of the floor gear shift. The manufacturer was alerted.

3 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/15/2005

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at approximate speeds of at least 40 mph, the gear shift selector would not lock in place. The gear shift selector was able to be moved from the desired gear selection with minimal force. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer several times however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was 400 and the current mileage was 9,200. The VIN was not available.

4 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/18/2004

2002 Nissan Altima overheats, air conditioner and engine failures. Customer states that she has brought the car in on numerous occasions for the overheating, air conditioning, and engine failures. The consumer stated she was backing out of the driveway, when all of a sudden the engine light flashed and there was an immediate loss of power and no steering capability. The starter, engine control module and radiator were replaced. The thermostat was sticking which was one of the reasons the engine was overheating. The rear middle seat belt locked into place. The fuel door would not open when using the internal latch. The gear was difficult to get out of park.
