15 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/02/2011

Sunday October 2, 2011 my car began leaking oil unexpectedly. Immediately my car was taken to a mechanic where he diagnosed that the oil cooler was leaking and needed to be replaced. I was advised not to drive my car as it was losing too much oil. I contacted coggin Nissan at the avenues (904-880-3000), spoke with jason in the parts department, I explained what was happening with my vehicle and he informed me that he has seen quite a few cars the same make and model as mine with the same exact issue. I strongly feel there is a defect in this part since so many cars like mine are having the same problem. I feel this issue should become part of a recall and Nissan should reimburse me for the price of the part. Up until now I have been very satisfied with my Nissan. This has caused me a great deal of stress and money I do not have as I am a single mother with a young child to support. I really appreciate you looking into this for me.

18 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Catalytic convertor problem resurfaced. Originally fixed in 2004 during the Nissan recall campaign. Local Nissan dealer qouted a price of over $2000 to fix. They do not honor the warranty on their work. Car is unsafe to drive and burns through high amounts of oil. Local Nissan dealer denied any recall, even though a printout of the recall campaign was provided to them. Never, ever will I buy a Nissan car again. These cars are unsafe, and you will pay $$$ to get them fixed as Nissan will not honor any warranty. These cars are priced cheap at the dealerships because of the expensive fix for them. Buy a Toyota or Honda instead.

24 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/11/2010

2003 Nissan Altima-86,958 mi. Purchased new March 2003 rusted floor boards I, too, am a victim of rusted floor boards(front driver and passenger) that will not pass inspection. This was found during an oil change on 4/21/10. All my maintenance work is done through the dealership on a regular basis. Why wasn't this noticed 3/30/10 when I had a catalytic converter replaced or on 10/23/09 at another oil change and multi-point inspection or at any of the other many garage appointments? my auto-body technician found manufacturer's tape over the drain holes. They sent pictures to the Nissan regional specialist. I was told by this person they handle things case-by-case, and they were not going to help me financially to get this repaired! the auto-body technician needs a section of floor. The hole is so bad patching with a piece of metal won't do the job. I have since been searching the web and found this is a common problem-Nissan not taking responsibility for a flaw in their product. I have also found many people have had the rusted floor board problem and/or the catalytic converter problem. Neither are inexpensive repairs. I'm ready to complete all the consumer forms I need to and spread the word that Nissan will not stand behind their product. As much as I love my Nissan, from what I've been reading I need to get rid of it(if I can). I have to foot the bill for the rotten floor boards-$1756. 73. I never filed a claim with Nissan for the catalytic converter because I was told it was a rare problem. So, I paid the $865. 10. From what I've read on catalytic converters one must figure out what caused the converter to go bad or it will happen again.

28 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/31/2009

My 2002 Nissan Altima 2. 5 s vehicle "shuts off" suddenly when I am driving, leaving me in a very dangerous situation. It has happened about 7 times in the past 2 months. Nissan sent out a safety recall in early 2008 regarding this issue, but the recall only "reprogrammed the electronic control module". I took my vehicle to an authorized Nissan dealership/service center, and they refused to reprogram the ecm module until I pay for replacing the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft sensor which would cost me $324. The current recall from Nissan does not fix the problem. A quick search online for the same symptom reveals that many people have had the same problem and reprogramming the ecm module hasn't corrected the problem. The real problem is with the crankshaft position sensor and that needs to be fixed, but the cost for fixing it is being borne by the consumer, and not by Nissan.

29 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2001 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/28/2008

I have Nissan Altima gxe model 2001. After a thorough research on the web, I find that "intake manifold gasket leak" is a common problem in Nissan Altima. It cost between $700 - $1200 (though part is for $15-$30 only). With this problem, car start shaking violently when you stop at light. Service engine light fequently lights up. Car stalls abruptly in the light. On a high way drive, car can stall anytime which is a great hazard, especially when you travel with a kid or an old age people. Nissan should help owners fix this and should immediately recall this cars with this kind of faulty parts.

30 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/13/2008

Check engine light was on. The problem was diagnosed as a faulty seal between the fuel filler pipe and the gas cap. This requires sanding of the filler pipe. The same problem was fixed less than two years ago and the car has only 41,000 miles on it. When questioned about the repeat repair, the dealer indicated that 2 years was a "good" amount of time for this repair which usually has to be repeated in a year or year and a half. Since I have never had a car with this problem before, it sounds like defective parts and/or design to me.

31 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Door for gas cap broken - won't close.

32 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2001 Nissan Altima

Car stalls, shutters, and rpm's bounce while stopped at traffic signs. Have to turn a/c on which helps for 30 secs. , then rpm's bounce erratically again. Have to then keep foot on brake and give gas to keep rpm's up or put in park, neutral and give gas to keep rpm's steady. If you don't, car dies. Safety hazard in traffic and while stopped, because car dies. Many complaints for this year/model with same problem on carcomplaints. Com.

33 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

The gas cap remains open and I have seen it on many of the same model Altima. Has there been a recall on this? the gas cap door does not shut.

34 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/01/2007

When trying to fuel the vehicle pump continues to shut off. Car taken in for repairs, and I was told I did not know how to put fuel in the car. Taken a second time, and they looked at the car. Fixed the problem after many attempts. Car was having same problem again after 1 month.

35 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2000 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/12/2006

Sudden failure of throttle body assembly. Dealer says it "broke" and he has never heard of this happening. Although I consider this to be a fuel supply failure, the auto warranty did not cover repairs claiming it was an "emissions part" and not covered. Cost $530. 92 to repair.
