1 Manual Transmission problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/07/2011

I have taken my car into the dealership 5 times due to the fact that my clutch sticks to the floor and I have to manually pull it up. Each time that I have taken it they have provided no remedy. I expressed several time of how it has put me in dangerous situations while driving and and got the sorry bout your luck tune. The last time it happened it resulted in my wife having a wreck in the car. I called the dealer ship and have filed two complaints with the manufacturer and get the same treatment.

2 Manual Transmission problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/29/2010

The clutch in my 2005 Nissan Altima sticks to the floor; no pressure what so ever. This has happened at least 3 times before. This time it happened on a bridge in a one way stand alone lane. It had lost more than 50 percent of its pressure. Good thing I was wearing sandals. Was able to lift the clutch with my toes and make it off the bridge. Once I got off, the clutch was not responsive what so ever. I pulled over and parked with the car off for 20 mins. Clutch started to work againa miracle. Last time, it took over 5 hours for the clutch to start working again. If I was in traffic or had to make an a brunt stop, braking without the clutch would have been disastrous.

3 Manual Transmission problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/08/2010

I have been have trouble with my 2006 Altima se-r since buying it at 52k miles. It's like everyone else; the clutch gets real floppy and looses pressure until it sinks to the floor and wont return. This has happened to me about 30 or 40 times since buying the car in October 2009, but I can't replicate for the dealer. They also say that they have never heard of this before, and nobody has ever complained about it to them - apparently they are lying. This afternoon, I was driving my son home from daycare, and the clutch did this very thing, but for the first time, I could not get the car out of gear and I was in bumper to bumper traffic. I almost hit the guy in front of me. When I finally yanked it out of gear, I couldn't put it back into gear because the clutch was stuck to the floor. I sat on the side of the road for an hour with my 14 month old son in 99 degree heat waiting for the clutch to "repair itself". This is bogus and Nissan needs to own up to their responsibility of fixing these cars before someone dies.

4 Manual Transmission problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/15/2010

I own a 2002 Nissan Altima 3. 5 se. Some time last year, when I was at the grocery store, my clutch was all the way down and it wouldn't come back up. I pumped it a couple times and it worked. Then when I was driving yesterday, it just stayed down, I was fighting with it so that I could change gears. This morning, when I was leaving for work, it stayed down and would not come up. I was unable to drive my car.

5 Manual Transmission problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/14/2010

Before I replaced my 2005 Nissan Altima 3. 5 se's engine, transmission, injectors, mass airflow sensor, throttle body, and clutch, I was having issues with the clutch losing pressure. After taking the car to Nissan I was told I needed a new clutch. I had it replaced along with everything else shortly after with other major engine repairs due to a blown motor at 100,000 miles. Now my car is back in the shop and after two months with the same issue among other electrical problems. I lost pressure again yesterday and dropped my car off this morning. They want $370. 00 to replace the clutch slave cylinder. After reading all of the complaints, I feel that they are dead on track with this being a safety issue. This isn't the first time its happened to me either. Why hasn't this issue been resolved by Nissan, obviously this is a trend. Do I have to get in an accident with my kids in the car before something is done about this? maybe it will be your family we crash into?!! California lemon law needs to change because apparently very little is being done with recalling defective automotive parts. 3 time iraq war veteran! -usmc.

6 Manual Transmission problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/10/2010

I have a 2006 Nissan Altima se-r. The clutch repeatedly looses pressure when the ambient temperature is hot combined with a heavy traffic situation. I have brought the car to the dealership several times and they say they have replaced the cylinder, but the problem persists. I did a little online investigating and it appears as though I am not the only person that owns an Altima that is plagued by the safety issue. It almost is impossible to shift.

7 Manual Transmission problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/25/2010

I have a 2003 Nissan Altima. This car is burning oil like crazy. There's no smoke or anything of that sort, but I have to keep an eye out and put oil in my car to keep it running at least every 4-5 days or so. Gas is high and oil is getting higher; I have to keep at least 2-3 quarts in my trunk. The check engine light has been on for sometime now. While driving on the interstate if I go over 70mph the check engine light starts blinking. When I take my foot off the accelerator the check engine light stops blinking, but continues to stay on. However, I just had my spark plugs changed and now the car won't start. Please I need some help ASAP. . . . I don't have money to purchase a new one at this time, but wish someone can tell me what is going on. The dealer is no help whatsoever. They get you in there and tell you that this, this, and this is the problem. It seems that nothing is under warranty with Nissan, and I don't own the car as of yet I'm still making monthly payments. I think that Nissan needs to go over the engine, electronic, and etc. Because canton, mississippi is the home of Nissan and you have some big problems on your hands!!!.

8 Manual Transmission problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/13/2010

On occasion/randomly the clutch on the 2008 Nissan Altima coupe will sink to the floor which does not enable the driver to shift the vehicle. The dealer replaced the master cylinder in the past to repair but the same situation has arisen. Not having ability to shift can stall the vehicle and reder it inoperable in the middle of the freeway, on an off-ramp, in an intersection, etc. This is unacceptable.

9 Manual Transmission problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/05/2009

My 2002 Nissan Altima was having problems with the engine running properly. I would start the car and it would run rough, sputtering, and engine sounds had changed. My check engine light comes on and on some occasions it is hard to start. I took my car in to be fixed by a private garage on 08/05/2009 and when it was put on the computer a code came up. The code was p0420: catalyst efficiency: recall- potential engine compartment fire, according to the garage and the recall bulletin attached to the code. I was told to contact Nissan. I did contact Nissan and they stated that there was no such recall associated with my vehicle. I told them that I had a copy of the 8 page recall campaign and that my VIN # was associated with this recall. At the end of the conversation they refused to do anything about this because it was an old car that had no warranty attached to it.

10 Manual Transmission problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/19/2008

I own a 2007 6-speed manual transmission Nissan Altima that persistently malfunctions. Since that November date and having reported this problem to the Nissan dealership on January 5, 2009, I have experienced on the highway and city streets with passengers, the manual transmission would not upshift, would not downshift, nor release from the position it was in. After repeatedly returning the vehicle to the Nissan dealership for the same under warranty repair, the same problem persists to date! despite the dealerships claim of clutch master cylinder and transmission replacement, pressure plate and disc replacement, I have no confidence that this problem will cease to occur, as it is idiopathic and the re-occurrence is unpredictable. Thus, operating this vehicle could cause accidental injury or even death. I continue to report my concern to Nissan north America USA and to date have not received any satisfaction to quell the unsafe fear factor in owning and operating this vehicle that has not owned up to the Nissan manufacturer's moniker, "made to drive. Built to last. " this internet correspondence serves as my official complaint and request for the office of defects investigation (odi) to open an investigation regarding the 2007 6-speed manual transmission Nissan Altima.

11 Manual Transmission problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/11/2008

I own a Nissan Altima se-r, I purchased the car pre-owned with 42k miles on it. After having the car for just a month the clutch will sink to the floor and I will not be able to shift the car into any gears. This has been an on going problem since I've owned the car and its going to be 2 years of owning the car this summer. Many of the times the clutch has lost pressure going over bridges and stopping to pay tolls and during traffic. How can I operate my vehicle correctly if the clutch keeps loosing pressure because the master and slave cylinder looses pressure. How safe is that for not only myself but other motor vehicle operators on the road.

12 Manual Transmission problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/08/2008

When car is cold, clutch has trouble, this has been since the day I got it at 45,000 miles. The clutch has always had to go the floor to engage and I was recently told by a mechanic friend of mine that is dangerous.

13 Manual Transmission problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/21/2008

On occasion, my car clutch sinks to the ground and loses all pressure. The car would be out of commission until the pressure comes back in about a 1/2 hr. Nissan has constantly said that they have never heard of such problems and always check my car when the problem is not there. This can be very hazardous in heavy traffic.

14 Manual Transmission problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/01/2008

2006 Nissan Altima ser clutch sinks to the floor and prevents use of gears. Happens once a month in traffic or on hot days. Nissan has not yet fixed the problem. It is dangerous being stranded on the highway.

15 Manual Transmission problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/14/2008

I have a 2006 Nissan Altima se-r with a 6 cylinder engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. Periodically throughout the last 30 months the clutch would fall to the floor while driving, making it difficult to shift. The solution was to catch the clutch with the driver's toe and raise it manually back into position each time prior to a shift. This is difficult, distracting, and dangerous and could easily cause an accident. I reported it to my dealership but they were unable to duplicate it and therefore did not fix the problem. This month, at 38,000 miles, the clutch has fallen to the floor and has remained stuck there, rendering the vehicle completely undriveable. The dealer now recommends replacing the master and slave clutch cylinders, however they intend to charge $709. 97 for it. This is obviously a defective part since it has had problems from 6,000 miles on and is reported by many other Nissan owners as well on internet forums. . Read more...

16 Manual Transmission problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/20/2007

Clutch sinks to the floor, and I am unable to get the car in gear. Driving along highway and unable to get the car in gear during a downshift. Lucky to be able to pull over without being hit. Stranded on the side of the road. Nissan could not "replicate" the problem. No fix. Extremely dangerous situation. I am lucky not to have had a crash. Yet!.

18 Manual Transmission problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/13/2007

I had the clutch drop to the floor, get spongy and really low when I'm driving. It happened several times, each time costing me money to sit up in a hotel or miss work many states away. Every single time I take it to the dealer they tell me there is nothing wrong with it.

19 Manual Transmission problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/08/2007

I have a 2006 Altima se-6 with a 6-speed manual transmission. During hot weather of after the vehicle is driven for extended times, the clutch will make a howling sound accompanied with a shuttering when released to pull off from a full stop. This event will also cause the vehicle to stall unless excessive revolutions (over 3000 rpm) are applied during release. In traffic or on a hill, this has caused the vehicle to roll backwards. Took car to a couple of dealerships; all of whom claim inability to reproduce the issue. This has been happening since October 2007. This issue only appears when the drive train is warmed up; however, it pretty much occurs each and every time when the temperature conditions are met.

20 Manual Transmission problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/27/2006

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. On one occasion, when the vehicle was placed in reverse, it rolled forward to the sidewalk. On two occasions, when the vehicle was placed in reverse, it rolled forward towards the sidewalk. The contact used both the foot brake and the emergency brake to finally stop the vehicle. The vehicle was never taken to the dealer. On twelve occasions, when the floor clutch was pressed, it became stuck. She had to manually work the clutch back to its normal position. On three occasions, when driving between 1-20 mph, the engine would shut off. On two occasions, while the vehicle was idling, the engine shut off. On four occasions, the vehicle restarted on its own. On one occasion, she had to call roadside assistance for a jump start. The vehicle sustained damage to the front bumper from rolling forward into the sidewalk. In January of 2008, the contact received a letter from Nissan concerning her vehicle not having abs; however, the information she received when the vehicle was purchased stated that it did have abs. The powertrain was unknown. The current mileage was 28,650 and failure mileage was 9,286.

21 Manual Transmission problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/01/2005

The clutch will lose pressure leading to the inability to shift. Once this starts to happen, it will happen randomly until the car sits for several hours. This causes unsafe situations at intersections and on the highways during traffic. I have experienced this since I bought the car and experience the problem most often during hot days with lots of stop & go driving. Over time/mileage, the condition becomes more common. The dealer eventually replaced the master cylinder to correct the problem. It fixed it for awhile then it started happening again. Until the condition was happening enough for the dealer to detect the problem, they would not do anything. They eventually decided to replace the master & slave cylinder again.

22 Manual Transmission problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/11/2004

Drove to the mall and drove to target. Came back to drive the car and put the car into reverse. The stick was stiff and it was a little difficult to put into reverse. I then put the car into first gear which again it was a little difficult. When I stopped to enter into traffic and proceeded, the stick popped out of gear and I couldn't get the car into gear and an oncoming car almost hit me. I finally got it to go into reverse and luckily no one was behind me. After trying to move the stick around into all the gears, second gear and reverse were the only functionally gears I had. I drove the car in second gear to the dealer where I purchased the car. It was just around the corner from target.
