My "vehicle was previously recalled to reprogram front passenger occupant classification system (OCS) electronic control unit (ecu). " I took my car in for the recall to have it taken care of, but now I'm still having issues with the OCS. Currently, the driver side airbag light is on, indicating that it is not functioning properly. In addition, while the car was in motion and I was sitting in the passenger seat, the passenger side airbag light was lit up. This indicated that the airbag was off, despite the fact that I was sitting in it. After taking the car into the dealership, I was informed that I needed a new OCS control unit as well as two OCS sensors. I informed them of the previous recall on the OCS; however, they said this was a separate issue, so I was going to have to pay around $700. Nissan originally said in a letter that, "if at any time within the next 15 years, the OCS system in your vehicle does not perform as described above, we urge you to please schedule an appointment at your nearest Nissan dealer. The dealer can check the OCS system in your vehicle and, if needed, perform a one-time retrofit to the OCS system free of charge. " since the OCS is still having issues after the original recall, I thought it was imperative to report this huge safety issue. I was informed that the airbags might not deploy if I were in a car accident, which could cause unnecessary injuries or even death. Clearly there are still unresolved issues with the OCS that need attention.
The passenger airbag OCS has quit working causing the passenger air light to stay on saying passenger airbags are off and the red airbag light to flash. Called dealer and they say sensor has went out in passenger seat but they need to look at it. My vehicle is unsafe to be on the road being the airbag system is faulty. I'm reporting because I know not only one and Nissan should be responsible for fix for cars like mine. They already recalled newer models and they need go back further in the year models.

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Nissan Altima. While driving, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the driver's seat moved forward independently. The vehicle was taken to mossy Nissan el cajon (located at 1170 w main st, el cajon, CA 92020, (619) 588-0500) where it was diagnosed that the driver's seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, while driving, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact powered off the engine while in traffic. The vehicle was restarted after ten minutes and was able to drive normally. The failure recurred three times and was towed back to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle, but could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 34469085. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
About 2 weeks ago I noticed that my air bag dash light was blinking. So I took my car into the shop and had it diagnosed for $125 (of course) then the service adviser states that a sensor in my passenger seat is not working and it cannot determine if an adult or a child is sitting in the passenger chair. In order for me to fix it I'd have to change out the whole chair assembly. I said why do I have to pay for this, this is a safety issue, so if the air bags don't deploy in an accident why should I be liable when it's a safety issue. This should be a safety recall and not the owners responsibility. I maintenance my vehicle every time on the money and to have a simple sensor cost almost $3,000 I don't think so.
Tl the contact owns a 2008 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag indicator remained illuminated while driving. The contact was concerned that the air bag might deploy. The vehicle was taken to nalley Nissan of atlanta (located at 2551 the nalley way, atlanta, GA 30360, (678) 825-6749) where it was diagnosed that the seat sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 211,000.

The airbag warning light illuminated on my dashboard, and when I took it to the dealer, I was told that the OCS system for the passenger seat had failed, and I would need to pay $2500 to replace the cushion seat. This issue appears to be related to an airbag recall involving 2013-2016 Altima, as well as other Nissan vehicles the passenger air bag is disable due to a sensor malfuntion that is very dangwrkus if you are involved in an accident.
Purchased this vehicle from the original owner. Saw that the front passenger air bag "off" indicator light stayed on when the front passenger seat was occupied along with the air bag warning light blinking in the instrument panel (all the time). Upon investigating the issue, I found that the "varistor" in the OCS control unit (occupant classification system) in the front passenger seat was bad. This varsitor is the switch that engages the front passenger air bag when the seat is occupied. This was recalled for 2007 Nissan Altimas under NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000. I contacted Nissan north America about the issue and was told my car (by VIN) was not affected. When I questioned why I was having the exact same issue as the recall, I was told that the customer service representative for my region would call me. When I was contacted, I was told that my car was already checked and that there was not a problem. When I asked how my car was checked when I was told it wasn't affected, I was told I could take it to any dealer and they would be able to diagnose/repair the issue. When I asked about the recall and the cost for repair the rep. Told me my car was "x" months and "x" miles out of warranty. I explained that I was looking for a required safety device to be repaired not a alternator or water pump. The representative was very smug and basically told me too bad. I asked if it would take somebody being injured in one of their cars with this issue for them to do the right thing but again was told to take it to any dealership for repair. The representative would not even hear that the issue in my car could be related to the recall issue. Photo taken with me sitting in the front passenger seat.

I love my Altima. But recently it's an expensive pain in the neck. Recently my airbag lights came on. Took it to the mechanic and he said my airbag sensors are not working. Since the sensors is in the seat, I have to pay $3,100 to replace the bottom cuahion in the passenger side of my car. My has wasn't in an accident, there was no moisture in my car to cause this problem. I've looked online and airbag sensor on the passenger side of Altimas has gotten a lot of complaints. This is not a cheap fix and there's too many Nissan owners complaining about their 2009 nisaan Altimas passenger airbag sensor failure. Nissan need to fix this before someone gets hurt.
The plastic shroud that covers the bottom part of the driver seat has sharp edges, and sticks out to a point to where it cuts my calves when I enter and exit the car. I had the dealer correct the problem, however, the way they repositioned the plastic shroud now cuts into the seat itself. I informed Nissan about the problem of the shroud now cutting into my seat, and was told "there is noting else we can do about this. . ", so I guess I will have to pay for either a new driver side seat down the line, or have to pay to have it repaired.
My passanger airbag is not working when somebody is sitting in the seat it is still off when driving, their was an open recall on this but when I call Nissan its not my model.
Shifter needs to be replaced a/c compressor needs replaced seat belt light/air bag light issue.
The airbag sensor on the passenger seat stopped working about a year ago. I had to get my car inspected last month to drive in the state of virginia and to access the naval base for work. I failed the inspection because of it and had to pay $705 for a new seat. I saw a recall for this problem but was told by Nissan recall department my car wasn't covered. How can that be possible? I am requesting a refund as the issue was a safety recall in 2008.
The passenger seat occupant air bag light off won't disappear when occupied.
I have already taken this vehicle back numerous times to the dealership for the same recalls and the notification / emergency lights still come on. This happens when driving at a stop light or when I turn the car on.
Air bag light comes on passenger side seat indicating air bag off, with passenger sitting in seat(passenger weighs over 115 #. I have brought car in for seat and air bag recall! brought in 2 more times for same problem. Still same problems. Contacted Nissan corp and told problem. As told by Nissan rep that they spoke with dealership that all was done to correct problem and known of anything that they could do for problem. The problem does this erratically when car is in motion or stationary. I m am afraid to use auto with pass in seat not knowing if air bag would work in case of a accident.

Takata inflator. I received a letter from a Nissan dealer about 2 months ago. It stated that I should bring in my vehicle to replace the passenger air. When I called to make an appointment I was informed that I would be called by the dealer when the they receive the air bag from the manufacturer. I have not heard from the dealer. When I checked NHTSA website, it did not show my vehicle as a recalled vehicle. I am confused. Is the dealer being honest. Previously, the dealer had requested that I bring in my vehicle. The dealer stated that the indicator light on the passenger air bag was not functioning properly. The dealer also stated that the repair was completed. On another occasion I was also told to bring in my vehicle for a transmission problem. The dealer also stated that the repair was properly completed. What action can I take in reference to the most recent request to replace the air bag? the date I received is approximate.
The driver seat doesnt stay in position. It sits low and doesnt stay lifted.

I recently purchased this vehicle and noticed that about a ¾ to 1 inch extra bump/projection of a vulnerable plastic under the drive seat caused bruises to the calf part of my leg. Attached are the pictures of the part I explained and slight bruise to my leg. This is not the first time I get into this bruise on my calf, but several times. However I am careful, it is hurting me. I would like to share with you for a possible action with Nissan and a remedy that would help to fix this in current vehicle as well as in future vehicles.
Floor boards (driver & passenger sides), extensive rust causing pieces of floor boards to fall off, or easily be removed with hand by mechanic, leaving insulation exposed on exterior, and hole under carpeting. Smell of gas fumes in cabin. Also, squeeking and cracking sounds under driver seat and surrounding area, when driving over minor/small bumps in road, or when shifting weight, when sitting in driver seat. Note: one owner, garage kept, driven by 115-lb. Person only. Pictures available. (is my seat falling through the floor? is my car safe to drive?).

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated consistently without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the sensor failed on the passenger side of the vehicle. The seat bottom assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.
Glue is bleeding thru the dash on my 2008 Nissan Altima. It is causing a glare on the windshield that makes it hard to see, so bad that I have to lean over to find a spot that does not affect my vision of the traffic in front of or coming towards me. This is a road hazard and left unattended will eventually cause a wreck. I also have a couple of other problems, the front seats are loose and slid when I had to slam on my brakesfeel and I am not at all comfortable that if I had an accident that this would attribute to additional injury. Also, I have had the low tire scensor replaced at my own expense to only have it come back on at which time I found out this was a known problem with this year model, would have been nice had the dealership told me there was nothing wrong, instead of taking my money. I have researched and found that all three of the problems I have are known problems that have been repeatedly reported to Nissan only to be told they are not recalls and are extremely high in cost out of pocket. I have been complaining to them for two years to no avail. They sent me to a dealer in town at one point who reiterated to me verbatim what I was told by them online after he gave the dash a quick look. I live in louisiana, I travel to texas several times a year. That is when the problem with the dash started. No way to clean, it is one big sticky mess and only getting worse. I bought the vehicle, they were happy to take my money, the least they could do is fix known problems. Toyota recalled one of their vehicles with the same bleeding glue dash problem. Nissan should be as forthcoming with their customers, won't buy another, will seriously affect the resale value of this one. Shame on Nissan! my formal complaint signed, sealed and delivered!.
I am contacting you over repeated issues with my 2014 Nissan Altima sl. This is my second complaint filed to NHTSA for this vehicle's airbag. As you are aware, a recall was issued and has been performed on my vehicle. My issue is that the passenger seat won't arm the airbag if my wife sits in the seat. I have multiple videos of this issue. My most recent visit to my Nissan dealer resulted in them stating they couldn't fix anything as they couldn't pull an error code. The very next day, the issue happened again with my wife in the passenger seat and again I recorded it. I opened a complaint with Nissan corporate. After a frustrating phone call this evening, and a lot of ambitious double talk on Nissan's part, the Nissan representative said that the issue was that my wife was too lite. My wife weighs between 103 and 108 pounds as she fluctuates a bit. She stands 5 foot 3 inches tall. The Nissan representative, delisa said that Nissan doesn't recommend anyone under 4 feet 9 inches or less than 120 lbs in the passenger seat. This was never told to me two years ago when I was looking at purchasing the car, or through any of the 6-8 service tickets I have opened regarding this issue with multiple different fixes attempted. ( I can get the exact number as soon as my dealer provides the requested information. ) I would have never bought the car knowing my wife couldn't ride in the front passenger seat. I asked for this in writing from the Nissan representative but she said she could not provide that. She said it was only for their internal records. I pressed her on the fact that they were saying my wife couldn't sit in the front seat. Her reply was that she didn't say that, only that Nissan doesn't recommend someone less than 120 pounds in the passenger seat. Is it possible to be contacted by the NHTSA to clarify what Nissan is saying and if it is accurate?.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Altima. While driving 25 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal abruptly and the front driver's seat lunged forward and completely detached. The contact's face struck the steering wheel. The contact did not sustain injuries. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that the seat was not bolted to the floor of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000.
The passenger side airbag warning light is flashing and showing as turned off even when the seat is occupied. I searched for recalls dealing with this safety issued and find recalls for this issue on the 2007 to 2008 Altima (recall 08v521000) and a new recall is just read about on the 2013 to 2016 Altima, but none on my year. I opened a case (#23576396) and took it to my Nissan dealer as instructed by the person I spoke with at the corporate number to have the issue analized. The service manager at the dealer told me the sensor in the passenger seat is defective and the fix is to replace the seat at a cost of $550. 00 plus labor. I told him I would talk to the corporate contact and was charged $121. 50 for diagnosis when I pick my car up. I spoke to allise at corp. And explained what the service manager had told me and was told that Nissan's position is this is my responsibility to pay for. I told her I will file a complaint with the NHTSA as this is a safety issue which renders the front passenger side as unusable in this condition. This condition started approximately 3 months ago.

Passenger occupant sensor has failed. The amber passenger occupant dashboard light always remains on. This means that even with the seat occupied by an appropriate sized adult, the light says the occupant is not being 'sensed'. Also, the control panel above the steering wheel has a red flashing airbag light. The Nissan dealership says the error code indicates a failure in the passenger seat occupant airbag sensor. My cost is at least $2400 to replace the passenger seat. I am unable to pay that kind of money. I am hoping for a Nissan recall or technical bulletin on that make, model and year. I see many other years of this make and model had the issue and the manufacturer fixed them at no cost. That is what I am hoping for. This car has never had an accident. This just happened out of the blue.
"passenger airbag off" light intermittently illuminates when passenger seat is occupied by adults weighing between 120 and 200 pounds, indicating the airbag is deactivated, though it should be turned on. Problem happens both while driving and parked, and has occurred frequently for the life of the car. Dealer could not replicate, so issue has not been resolved, and faulty sensor has not been replaced. Newer models (2013¿2016) were subjected to a safety recall for the same issue. Older models should be included as well, as this is a major safety concern for passengers. Complaint for 2011 Nissan Altima 2. 5 s.
A passenger sitting causes the airbag light to flash and turns off the airbag? if the seat is equipped with the same OCS control unit, my vehicle should have been included. I am experiencing the same problem as the recall in November 2008 that did not include my VIN? Nissan concluded I should pay the dealer to check it out.
When an adult is setting in the passenger seat the air bag indicator light will periodically go on. This has been an ongoing issue for years. St. Charles Nissan tech found occupant sensor failure to be causing the issue. There is a recall involving this issue, NHTSA campaign id number 08v521000. My car's VIN is not part of the open recall, however, since it is the same problem in the same year vehicle, I wondered if the recall should be expanded. I have not been informed at what VIN they stopped in the recall.
I believe the recall which came out yesterday for the airbag sensor in the front passenger seat should include 2012 Altimas (not just 2013-2016). I have had this issue several times in the last 6 months or so where I may or may not have a passenger or items on my front passenger seat and my airbag indicator light in the middle of the dash board will come on at random, even when there is a full-size adult in the seat. This happens whether the car is stationary or moving.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact noticed that the driver seat was very unstable and the seat cushion felt uneven. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat rail and frame failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired six times, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 300.
