1 Tire problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/16/2025

I was driving 65 mph on a major highway (I-95) at 7:40am on a clear morning when my tire blew out completely. There was no debris on the road. There were no warning signs. I put on my hazards and was able to cross the lanes to pull over on the shoulder. Fortunately no one was injured, but this is how deadly accidents happen. I waited for an hour but my roadside assistance never came. A road ranger thankfully found me and helped to put in my spare. The tire is complete blown out at the seams. This is the second tire from the same company and lot that spontaneously blew out in the same way. There are recalls in similar tires produced from this same time period and I am convinced these should be recalled as well. I will be obtaining an inspection report. Tire size: 215/55 r17 94v.

3 Tire problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/08/2024

215/60r16 this is the second tire that failed at the sidewall needing to be replaced. First failed after less than 4000 miles. And the second w sidewall failure at about 10,000 miles of use. I have photographed the second tire failure. Seems odd that out of five brand new tires have sidewall failures 2 (40%) have very low use failures.

12 Tire problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/25/2015

I had a blowout and this was the closest tire shop to me at the time. I asked and was told that their used tires are $30. Okay, that's fine. That's the standard rate for used tires. The first tire they tried to sell me had two nails in it. The guy showed me the tire but didn't show me the whole tire until I asked to see it myself. I pointed out the two nails that were obvious and he acted as if he didn't know they were already there. The second tire had little to no meat on it. I refused that tire and they tried to offer the tire for $28 instead of $30. No sale. I was then told that they didn't have anymore tires my size. Miraculously, the owner/manager found another tire with sufficient tread and no holes. However, the owner/manager said that this tire would cost $35 instead of $30 because "it's a good tire. " I told them that it was neither safe or right to try to charge me $30 for two bad tires and $35 for a good tire. I shouldn't have bought the $35 tire, but I didn't have time to go elsewhere.

13 Tire problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/22/2015

I almost had a horrible accident on 1-22-15. I was going about 50 mpr when the rear passenger tire completely disengaged from the tire rim. All that was left on the rim was a two inch remnant of the tire. I will email you a picture of the tire and I assure you that you never saw anything like this. The tire only had 12034 miles on it. The tire was a michelin energy green x. Tire size p215/55r17 which was made in canada. Dot b33f00rx0813. It is a miracle I did not get into a serious accident. I was so unnerved I went to the nearest tire shop and purchased four new goodyear tires that cost me $642. 00. I called michelin's customer service dept. And they said sorry but they will not give me a dime-as expected. Check out a site consumer affairs that has no fewer that 257 complaints about michelin tires.

18 Tire problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/31/2013

Dear sirs: on March 31st at aprox. 2pm I was heading to work in I-4 westbound when my car started to wobble. I was just past the off-ramp for the b-line, near sea world, but barely go to the side of the road before the construction zone narrowed the road. Without any warning sign or light, the left side rear tire had completely separated from the rim and was flopping around and caught the bumper tearing it partially loose. Through my insurance, geico, I was able to get a tow to universal Nissan a couple of hours later. I called my husband and he met me by the car. We went with the tow to universal and left the key in the drop box. I had to miss work that day. The next day Nissan called to tell us the car needed "body work" and we had to call geico to get another tow to universal autobody. We were very clear that the car had a warranty and we thought this repair should be covered. We had a geico representative inspect the car on 4-1 and he said it would be 3 days and $443 to fix it; the tires were not covered by geico and we did not meet our deductible. We spoke with universal several times to honor the warranties we are paying for. The papers were in the car and I assumed our records would be on file at universal Nissan. He kept insisting that the tires and damage were not covered. We were using my my mom's and another older car to get to work, so we didn't go back to universal autobody until the repairs were done, April 8th. We agreed only to replace the pair of back tires with a used rim, and a "wheelhouse liner" and mounting and balancing. They said they had nothing to do with the warranty. I had to pay for the car and go to work; the bill was$725. 47 which we are now disputing. The tires: 215/60r15 are incorrectly billed. The warranty papers were inside the car: road hazard tire coverage (5 yrs) oil change & tire rotation plan, total loss protection addendum, royal protection plan, etc. We only had the car 9 months; I'm ready to return it.

20 Tire problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/31/2011

On installation I immediately noticed shimming, shaking and intense vibrations on my vehicle. I assumed it was the conditions of the highway, however, the following day driving on a different highway the shimming, shaking and intense vibrations continued and even intensified. I called the retailer, and explained the experience and they suggested having the tires rebalanced, I did and the behavior continued. I then took my car to my mechanic and had my front end aligned and the drove the car around, and the same results continued. I set my cruise control set at 69 mph and the car literally "danced" across the highway and I momentarily lost control of my vehicle. It also began raining and the traction of the tires was non-existent. These tires steer on their on and pull very hard to the right.

21 Tire problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/08/2011

On several occasions my car as suddenly cutoff, while driving!!!! luckily, nobody was ever physically hurt. Mentally and emotionally it scared the crap out of several people, including myself. While on the expressway I've started to notice my car automatically slowing down after a certain speed, without me even touching the brakes. For awhile I stopped getting on the expressway, in fear of my car completely stopping with cars driving behind me at a faster pace. Also, at 55 + miles/hr my tires start to wobble and there's a scrubbing noise with the wobble sometimes. It feels like my back tires are about to fall off. I've bought 3 sets of tires already, and tomorrow will be my 4th set. This is ridiculous and very unsafe!!!!! please help me, thanks.

27 Tire problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/17/2010

My 2009 nissian Altima drove great unless it was raining. When there was just a slight drizzle my Altima would hydroplain uncontrollably. I was driving on interstate 40 in tennessee and it started to rain. My Altima started hydroplaining really bad. I was driving at most 40 miles an hour in a 70 mph zone. It sounded like something was really wrong with the rear part of the car. The water from the road completely lifted the rear end of the car off the ground. I believe it was the tires that caused the problem. They were continental conti pro contact tires size 215/60/r16. It was so bad I pulled over at a rest area for the night. The next morning I start my trip again. The car was fine until it started misting rain again. I was going about 40 mph when the car hydroplained and spun out of control. I ended up in the ditch with a totalled car. While I was getting out of the car a woman with the exact car except for the color did the exact same thing, but her car came a stop in the middle of the interstate. I have checkes several nissian lots and not many of there cars come out with these particular tires. I made a complaint to the nissian company, which inspected the car and said that nothing was wrong the car. I am worried that people are at risk of being hurt driving these cars. I have never seen a car drive like this before.

28 Tire problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/17/2009

I just want to let someone know that I travel back in forth to work every week and there were major bumps in the road and it tore up my tires. I pay a lot of money for my tires and I had to replace them which costs me alot of money and not only that my rims are bent up . The air started coming out the tires which meant the rim was bent and there was a lot of repair that needed to be done. I had to repair this out of my money and I don' t have extra money to spend out like that.

29 Tire problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/28/2009

I bought my 2008 Nissan Altima from champion Nissan, katy, texas. I paid $2000 for four boss wheels and tires. At 15,000 miles, I had two tires fall apart and have belts to separate making the car un-drivable. Now I have a third tire which seems like it is trying to do the same;however, I have had to stop driving the car for safety reasons. I contacted champion Nissan(281-644-1100 ) and spoke with two managers, rafael and phil;, and have been put off for ten days now because they are trying to pass the buck to the vendor which sold them the boss wheels w/ tires. They have found out that the business is now "out of business" and they seem to be in meetings all the time. Can someone help me convince them that since the car was purchased with the no good tires from them, they ought to put decent tires on my car so I can drive it? the warranty book they gave me describes goodyear, bf goodrich and dunlop tires. . . . Nothing is mentioned about nankang tires. Help!.

Failure Date: 01/10/2009

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Altima. The vehicle has continental conti pro contact all season radial tires, size 215/60/16. While driving approximately 5 mph on a slight incline, the vehicle began to slide uncontrollably. The road surface was snow covered and slushy. The driver shifted into reverse and proceeded down the incline. Immediately, the vehicle was shifted into drive and proceeded forward to the top of the incline as the tires slid. There were no injuries, although the contact felt this was a life-threatening situation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the tires were not defective. The manufacturer was notified, but there was no resolution. The contact stated that the tires were not suitable for this geographic area. All four original tires were replaced. The dot number was unknown. The failure mileage was 10,000 and current mileage was 18,000. Updated 05/08/09.

I checked my tires and found that 2 of them that I purchased at bj's wholesale club. The dot number was missing the month of manufacture. They had the first 8 characters but the date was missing. I think it might have been removed. It's probably been a year since I bought them.

33 Tire problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/10/2008

I purchased a 2008 Altima from bill ray Nissan (sandford FL) in oct 07. After only 25,000 miles the tires (continental conti pro 215/60r-16 94t) began to make a loud noise. Luckily I purchased a tire warranty from discount tire company shortly after I bought the car. Of course there was nothing that Nissan could do about the tires. This was due to the fact that you have to go through the tire company which will only warranty the tires for manufacture defects. I didnt want to wait for the tires to fall apart at hwy speeds. So with my extra insurance through discount tire company they were able to prorate the tires and now im driving on some very quiet tires from yokohama (215/60r-16 95h) with 33,000 miles on the car. Ill never go back to continental tires.

34 Tire problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/10/2008

215/55/17 bridgestone turanza el-42 tire on fron driver side begin to split on side tradwear. Only 15000 miles on the tire. Exper tire care would not replace the defetive tire for free.

35 Tire problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/10/2008

I replaced the tires on my 2005 Nissan Altima with a new set of bridgestone turanza el-42 tires in July of 2007. Within 3 months the vibration in the steering wheel was so bad the tires had to be rotated and balanced every 45-50 days. I got the run around from the dealer excuses as to why I had to rotate so often which none applied to my driving situations and the car was not out of alignment at all. Finally took a credit from dealer and replaced all 4 tires with new michelin energy series in may 2008 car drives just like it did off the show room floor!!!!! firestone needs to address the issues with these tires. They have flat spots, cupping problems they are out of round. I finally took it to another dealer(not firestone)who confirmed that they could not get them to balance out properly because of all the problems with the tires and the vibration was still there.
