While driving applying brakes and without waring except when it anitially happens brake light comes on and brake pedal kickback and cannot stop car with in a timely manner almost causing a rear end collision. Finally get car stopped and shutting off and back on again every thing is normal with braking . Had a code pulled for a c1179. I know of TSB ntb06-040 but should be considered a saftey recall.
Traveling on highway at 65 mph near my offramp when brake light came on the dash again. This has happened several times in the past few months and it doesn't get driven on a regular basis as it is our 3rd vehicle. As I approached the ramp with brakes even lightly depressed the brakes chattered and felt week. Had to stop on the ramp, shut the engine off and restart so I could continue. At least this time I knew what to do to make go away at least temporarily. We have to always make sure we have plenty of extra space in front of us so we time to react if it happens again. I just hope it doesn't happen in an emergency situation. Also had an incident while towing a small utility trailer early in 2020 when it happened and it was much more extreme and I was afraid I would not be able to stop it at the upcoming stop sign. Nissan needs to figure out what is causing this and fix it at their cost. If it can be rest by just turning the key off someone should be able to figure this out. My understanding from the forums I have red that the dealers just take your money to replace parts that don't fix the problem. There was even on who said they replaced almost all brake related parts and it still did it.
This problem has happened numerous times at various speeds from 10mph to 70mph. While driving on city streets and freeways and need to come to a stop the brake light, vdc off light, and slip light came on. When brakes applied, very loud grinding/clunking metal noise happened and brakes would not engage only at about 10% of brakes working it seems. I stop turn off the car and start it back up and it seems to reset. This cannot happen as I almost got into numerous collisions because of this abs brake malfunction !! doing research on this problem from other Armada owners forums this problem happens quiet frequently. Some owners came to the conclusion that its a faulty delta sensor in the brake booster. Nissan must recall this problem ASAP!!.
Several times when driving my brake light will come on along the brake does not engage. When you press on the pedal you hear a loud grinding sound similar to springs being ejected from the car. It does not slow down the vehicle at all and the grinding is loud and seems to be damaging internal parts. When you turn the engine off, and restart it the problem goes away. I took it to the Nissan dealership in fremont CA. They advised to change the brake pads and rotors. Which I elected to do and cost me a lot of money. Immediately after leaving the dealership it happened again. I called the next day for they were closed. They said that they didn't see any errors on their reader and cannot replace parts when there are nothing showing. I insisted to take it in and the mechanic suggested I clean the battery or get a new battery which I did. The problem stoped for a month until it happened again while driving 50mph down a windy road. It nearly killed me! the closest description I have of the problem is explained on this youtube video I found https://youtu. Be/jvcrd2lxti8.
Note that this vehicle was purchased used about 2 years ago without any service history from the previous owner. However I was able to confirm no outstanding recalls open on the VIN. While traveling home (45mph) I observed the brake light illuminate on the dashboard and noticed the brakes were malfunctioning. When attempting to depress the brake pedal the abs/brakes appeared to make grinding/metallic noises and the brake pedal would vibrate and go to the floor. I thought that a brake line or fluid issue may have occurred, but when I stopped the vehicle and turned off the ignition I did not see any visual issues. Then upon restarting the vehicle the issue was no longer present. When I researched this issue I found hundreds of complaints about Nissan brakes having similar issues and found a service bulletin ntb06-040. Pdf regarding the issue. Upon using a scantool to read the vehicle codes I was able to confirm that dtc c1179 was present and that this issue was related to the service bulletin. The service bulletin indicates a software update addresses the issue. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs and they indicated Nissan would not be able to assist due to the age of the vehicle. I am concerned about the number of complaints I am seeing online (clubarmada, Nissanhelp, etc) regaing this issue and feel that if a software update is needed to resolve than there is either 1) a software bug (which needs a recall) or 2) a defective sensor (delta sensor) that the software update chooses to ignore or diminish. Either way a random brake malfunction that can "fix" itself upon reboot (restarting the vehicle) seems suspicious and should be investigated.
The brake light comes on while driving and you lose some braking ability which is quite dangerous.
While driving the Armada, the brake light suddenly turns on. And I'm unable to brake immediately. I would have to stop the vehicle completely and turn it off wait about two minutes, then turn the engine back on. . Sometimes it stops, but most times it doesn't. .
Brake light on dash goes on and the brakes grab, make it hard to stop when brakes are applied. Has happened multiple times, had brakes replaced, and continues to happen with new brakes and rotors. Problem clears temporary after stopping vehicle and turninh ignition off then back on. Last time this happened was 2-16-2019.
I was on the freeway going 60 mph when this happened . Having problems with the brake booster brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and doesn't wanna break on time also makes a weird noises this only happens when the brake light is on I have to turn off the vehicle and start again and then it won't do it for a while and then after a while it happen again so scary.
Randomly the truck would not stop as I try and apply the brakes , its as is I push petal to the floor and you hear a bad grinding a bad vibration and feels as if the truck is about to drop a mechanical piece from underneath the front end . As I come to a long and rolling stop the brake light turns on,, I try and pump the brake petal and it seems as if its disconnected from the cable, so I turn the truck off wait a minute and turn it back on. . . Now this has happened about 5,6 times the past time my wife and 3 boys where in the vehicle. . Ive done research and been on many forums and know this is a big issue and very dangerous, as we are now extremely nervous to drive the vehicle especially on the expressway . . . Please at least honor the repairs as I can take it to a Nissan by me and have it fixed. I love the truck and have put a lot of money to modifying it and its very dependable. But no vehicle will be safe if brakes randomly go out. . . Its bound to be a very bad outcome and we dont want to be a statistic,,,please help us. . Samuel salman angela dejulia 773 769 9203 cell please call for further info and a resolution. . Thank you for your time.
At random times, usually when transmission in drive, the brake light displays on the dash and immediately the brakes do not work appropriately. The brake pedal sinks to the floor when depressed while making a loud groaning/grinding sound. The brakes fail. I have to stop the car by pumping the brake pedal, turning off the motor and then once auto restarts the problem is gone until next time. Very dangerous. At higher speeds could cause serious accident with injury or death. Happened several times on expressway. Happened in parking lots and on side streets. Frightening situation. Dealers act ignorant about this problem even tho this seems to be a common complaint with this vehicle. I understand it is the abs booster that needs to be replaced. Others said it is the computer. I spent 4 hours 2 wks ago at dealer who "found nothing. " yet the situation has increased fron a few times a year to 3 times this week.
I was driving on freeway around 60mph on a sudden brake paddle got soft brakes light abs light everything came on dashboard. Whenever I pressed the brake it feels like not pressing anything but the brake was still working but not smooth. . It's like u pressing hard brake every time. But when I restarted the truck everything disappeared from dashboard n brake paddle started working normally. So whenever it was happening I was keep restarting the truck . So I I went to firestone they said I need to change master cylinder flash the brake fluid rotors n pads all way around which cost me almost 1500$ . Once they did those services after couple of months same problem occurring again. Now firestone said it's abs probably. I looked online lots of had same this unknown problem n it's dangerous. . It's pointi on its reliability . . I can't even sell the truck cz I don't want to put anyone's life in danger so plz I really this it's need to be taken care by dealer . Thank you.
Brake light come and a shutter in brake petal. Lose of stopping power.
Takata recall "abs braking system ,entire system fails the brake light and abs brakel light, tics light all come on instrument panel, when stepping on brake pedal, then a wierd noise sound then brake pedal sinks to floor with the brakes grabbing and locking up causing tires to lock and slide, this happens frequently sometimes twice in the same time ,then it might go without occurring for weeks or months at a time, this is very dangerous I just happen to know somewhat how to deal with problem, as I'm applying brakes when it always happen, but if I was braking heavily and it happen no way ,would I not crash into what ever in front of me, it only happens while truck is in motion , and during braking.
Doesn't matter the speed of the vehicle, brakes tend to press to the floor, grinding noise and the only way to stop this is to pull over the vehicle, turn off the ignition and restart it. It randomly happens, but I am very concerned that if and when I tow or am on the highway, I don't won't my brakes to not work. Could kill me. . . I have had an issue with brakes and lights coming on that says vdo ,antilock etc: when driving the SUV at lower speeds and you try to apply the brakes the whole front end starts shaking and grinding and it is impossible to stop. I have replaced brakes, rotors , wheel hub bearings and still have this problem. It is scary when you can't stop a 7,000lb vehicle! I am in fear of an accident . I have read of others having the same problem. Sometimes when running hyw speeds a lot of lights come on and dingers and this has been happening since I bought the Armada. I want to know what Nissan is gonna do about this problem cause it seems I am not the only one having these issues. By the way this is going on since I purchased the vehicle back on 10/2006.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced failures with starting, violent vibrations, and jerking. In addition, an abnormal noise was heard coming from the vehicle and the brakes failed to operate. The contact stated that the brake and tipm warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake lights needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
Bought a 2004 Nissan Armada 08/08/2016 the second day I had to go to the dealers and pay close to 4xx to have a computer hooked up to it because my brake light came on and didnt have any brakes, it then happened the second week of owning the vehicle, called Nissan north America at first I was told I would be reimbursed and my problem fixed then was told its out of warranty. Regardless it was not my fault Nissan does not no how to make vehicle or fix there fauly problems. Then today I went out to start my truck and it will turn over all day long but will not start, I have a 2 year old special needs child and was heading to get his medication which can be very serious if hes without, contacted nna yet again with no luck. On top of the list of other problems iv had with this vehicle.
I have a 2004 Nissan Armada and had the brake light come on yesterday followed by the limited braking, shuttering and pulsing of the brake pedal. . This is my third incident, it happen in year 2014, 2015 and Apr 29 2016. After turn the car off and restart it, the brake light goes off then stops normally again. I have brought my Armada to Nissan dealership in coon rapid mn. They charged me 130$ (diagnostic fee) and no problem solved. After research on internet after my third incident, I learned that thousands of people have experienced the same problem. There was a class action pending on this issues in state of California. Why Nissan is ignoring this problem?. We are scared to drive this vehicle now, I have spent 40k to purchase this vehicle back in 2004. Please someone help resolve this issue.
Brake light comes on and the vehicle makes a grinding sound when trying to slow the vehicle. Braking is impaired. Restarting the vehicle makes the problem go away.
The brakes went completely to the floor and the brake lights came on. Had to pump brakes while backing out of driveway to stop. Shut car off and let sit. Restarted car and brake lights went off. Was able to brake again but brakes felt soft. Has brand new brake pads from approximately 2k miles earlier. Took to mast body shot . Paid $90 for diagnostic. C1179 code error was listed in malfunction for delta stroke sensational fault. Recommendation was take to Nissan dealership for possible update in software. Mast service 574_546 2155 did not have expertise to fix issue. Code was not currently malfunctioning at service center. Probably reset when restarting vehicle but diagnostic still had error code in memory.
I'm having brake problems with my2004 Armada. I turn the car on and the brake light coms on the brakes make grinding noise I turn the car off then back on and the brakes reset Nissan service department said they can t find the problem because there is no code please address this issue and have a recall.
I was driving and went to brake the vehicle and the pedal went to the floor the brake light came on in the dash and it was making grinding noises and there were no brakes. I pulled over and turned the car off and started again and it was ok. It happens periodically.
While driving brake light, vdc off light, and slip light came on. When brakes applied, very loud grinding noise happened and brakes would not engage. I was able to pull off the road safely and turn car off and back on. Once car was turned on, lights remained on and brakes functioned normal. Luckily, I was not going very fast and no other cars were close or an accident would have resulted.
While driving on the highway with my 3 children, suddenly the vdc and slip lights came on, followed by the brake light. When I tried to slow around a curve and use the brakes to slow down I heard and felt a grinding sensation under the brake pedal and the brakes would not engage. Luckily, I managed to slow down enough and come to a complete stop where I turned off the vehicle, turned it back on and the system reset.
I have a 04 nissian Armada . . Well about a month or two I was going threw town around 35 mph and I when to stop at light and didnt have but 20% brakes and the brake light was on I was scared to death I got stop at store cut the car off and hit emeregcy cause my hubby thought it m8ight have been on but it wasnt I craced car back up and brake light was off and seem like everything was fine but I got it towed to shop where they said brakes and everything looked great well a couple weeks ago the same thing happen I was going threw town around 25 mph and the brake light was on not the abs the brake light was on and I had very little brakes got to store cut car off and it was fine I took back to shop and got brakes rotors new brake everything and it did it again I am pi$$ed I have read over 250 review on this same problem happen to other people when is Nissan going to do something I dont have money to put in this car that I thought was top of the line when I got it this is a issue that is going to kill someone Nissan is going to be just like general motors please someone help me and tell me what to do.
I've made some research and I'm surprised to find out I'm not the only one that has this problem. Sometimes without notice the brake light comes on as you try to brake you hear a loud grinding noise and loose braking power. I pull over turn off the truck for a few seconds, turn it back on and the brake light goes away. It works good after that but sometimes I get the same problem multiple times through out the day. It gets scary when traffic suddenly stops and that happens. Nissan should really make a recall on this.
As driving I had a sudden red light when hit brakes pedal vibrated no braking and slipping, and making noises, and brake light came on, I was able to pull off the road in a parking lot and tested the brakes for about 10 mins but it was doing the same thing, I turn on and off but still, after maybe 15 mins, light when off and then I was able to drive. I got my oil change at Nissan nalley in decatur GA. I told them what had happened and he said that the light form brake was already off, and was not going to be able to diagnosed since cpu had already deleted. Just two days ago (5/29/14)at 78k while I'm heading to park with wife and daughters it does it again, now at about 25 mph, I pulled in a street with less traffic and did the same again, dont want to drive this car anymore, as im worried it happens at a higher speed with my love ones in,.
Applied brakes, brake light went on abs stopped working, brakes groan. They work at 10 %. Please see youtube enter Armada brake system problem. There are 100's of complaints for the exact same failure. There is a problem in the brake booster. Once you shut off the vehicle and restart it the abs resets until the next occurrence. This has occurred many times over the years, this system failure will cause death if not addressed.
On multiple occasions, when hitting the brakes, the brake light would come on. The brake pedal becomes soft and springy, lose about 50-75% of the braking power of the vehicle. I am afraid that this would happen while my wife is driving, and this may cause her to panic and have an accident.
I was pulling out of the gas station, when I applied the brake it began making a popping sound, the pedal went all the way to the floor and brake light came on. It almost caused an accident. I pulled over turned it off then turned it back on and the brake light went off. I was able to drive home with no other issues. Today I was backing out of the driveway and the same thing happened. There is something wrong with the brake system. I can't believe something hasn't been done with all of the similar complaints. I went to get it checked and they can't find the issue. Please look into this before a fatality occurs.
Brake light came on and brakes made a springing sound and car wouldn't stop!!! it's the delta stroke sensor and this is not first complaint. These vehicles need to be recalled. They r a death trap!!! someone is gonna be seriously hurt or killed!.
Driving on surface streets going approximately 35 mph when a thud sound came from under the car and the brakes when pressed screetched and were mushy and not effectively stopping the car, in addition the parking brake light on the dash light up but was not engaged. I was able to pull to the side of the road and come to a stop by repeatily lightly pushing on the brake and just letting the momentum of the car die down. Once stopped I turned off the car and looked under the car for any sign of damage or leaks and popped the hood of the car to do the same. Found no evidance of any damage or problems. When I turned on the car the light on the dash was off and the brakes when pressed became hard and no sound came from the brakes and the brakes worked as they should.
I have had the same problem in regards to the Nissan Armada brake light coming on without warning during driving. This has happened numerous times while on and off the freeway. I would turn the engine off and then back on and the brakes light would go off, resetting the braking system to normal function. This last time was enough and I finally took it into Nissan and they told me that it's a common problem with the brake booster, and it would be over $1000 to fix!! Nissan needs to be held responsible for this faulty sensor or part. Its extremely dangerous to drive this vehicle under these conditions. Thank goodness my wife and infant daughter have never been in the vehicle whenever this happened. Do better Nissan, I've had no other problems with the vehicle other than this.
I was driving on the freeway and my emergency brake light came on. As I exited off the freeway and tried to stop the brakes were making a terrible noise and failed me. It was very frightening as my car was not able to stop at all, thankfully I was able to use the transmission to slow the car by dropping down to first gear. I had my 2 children in the car and thankfully we were not in an accident although was very close as there were cars in front of me stopped at a light. When I came home we checked the brake fluid and pads and both were fine. When we turned off the car and turned it back on everything was fine and the problem did not reoccur. I have my car maintenanced very regularly and this problem stumped our normal mechanic. I have since learned that this is a common occurance among vehicles like mine and is apparently the break booster which Nissan will fix for $800. This is very disturbing that a car can lose complete control of its ablility to break just like that with absolutely no warning then after I turn if off and back on be just fine. I believe this is a dangerous problem and the manufacturer needs to deal with this problem immediately before someone is seriously injured. I have no problem fixing the break booster but how is Nissan able to insure me this problem will not happen again? I feel very unsafe knowing at any time it could re occur.
2004 Nissan Armada brake issue. Driving down the road and the brakes start grinding and its hard to stop , then the e brake light comes on. Once I get pulled over and restart the vehicle it seems to be fine. This has happpend twice getting very nervous to drive the vehicle. Woried about towing or high speeds this could be fatal.
