While driving in traffic at 35 mph I pressed the brakes and they went all the way to the floor and the brake light came on. I turned the vehicle off and on and the brake light went off and the brakes recovered. Shortly after the brakes did the same thing again and I almost crashed into someone but was able to swerve.
While applying brakes, I noticed the brake light on the dash came on and that was followed by a serious reduction in braking power, shuttering, grinding and pulsing of the brake pedal. This continued until the car was stopped and turned off and then restarted. I almost rear ended a vehicle but was able to make a right turn at fairly high speed to avoid traffic. I have researched this all day and found that many Armada's in my year range are having the same exact problem.
2004 Nissan Armada brake issue. Driving down the road and the brakes start grinding and its hard to stop, emergency brake brake light comes on. Once I am able to slow down and pull over, I then restart the vehicle and the brakes go back to performing normally. This has happpend numerous times since purchasing the vehicle. This most recent time happened while towing a 6500lb load. Thankfully noone was in front of us. I have done quite a bit of research on the Armada and titan forums and they reference ntp06-040 as well as a rather expensive brake booster replacement at close to $1000. This issue seems to be rather prevalent with the Armada model. The biggest issue is there is no warning when this issue will occur and I am a bit worried that it may cause an accident and/or injury.
While driving, the brake light came on and when I pressed on the brakes, the pedal went all the way to the floor and a grinding noise was heard. This has happened before. Took it into Nissan and I was charged about $100 to reprogram the system. That was supposed to have fixed but apparently it did not. Luckily, we haven't been in an accident yet.
When coming to a stop and applying the brakes, the vehicle lost most of its braking power. The pedal went soft and began pulsating with a grinding noise. The brake light came on. It acted as though the abs system was activated. The brake system stayed in the failed mode until I could pull over and turn the engine off and the computer would reset itself.
While driving my 2004 Nissan Armada le, I went to slow down to make a turn, and my brake pedal went to the floor accompanied by a metallic grinding sound. I downshifted and pumped the brakes to come to a stop, but had very little braking efficiency for the next third of a mile to my house. The brake light has periodically stayed on after the emergency brake was released, but turning the vehicle off and then back on has always reset this condition. After the incident today, the brake light remained lit even after restarting the vehicle. The brake pads, calipers, rotors, pistons, and master cylinder all appear to be in normal condition. I feel that our vehicle has experienced failure of the delta sensor or brake booster, as online forum descriptions of these sudden failures seem consistent with our experience. Nissan needs to act quickly to correct this failure to avoid driver injury or death. It appears that there is no open recall as of yet to address the faulty brake booster issue.
I have had an issue with brakes and lights coming on that says vdo ,antilock etc: when driving the SUV at lower speeds and you try to apply the brakes the whole front end starts shaking and grinding and it is impossible to stop. I have replaced brakes, rotors , wheel hub bearings and still have this problem. It is scary when you can't stop a 7,000lb vehicle! I am in fear of an accident . I have read of others having the same problem. Sometimes when running hyw speeds a lot of lights come on and dingers and this has been happening since I bought the Armada. I want to know what Nissan is gonna do about this problem cause it seems I am not the only one having these issues. I have already had to replace the right rear hub assembly 2 times and they are not cheap. I feel Nissan does not want admit they have a problem. I think this needs to be a recall . Since I have had this vehicle I have not received anything from Nissan to address these issues. I pray they will recognize and see to it that these things are fixed and help us the consumer feel safe driving down the highway. I have 3 young children who ride in this Armada. Please help !!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2004 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that while at a stop sign, the brake lights illuminated and the vehicle made a loud grinding noise until the vehicle was restarted. In addition, the contact stated that the brake pedal hit the floor when pressed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 60,000. Ad.
I was driving in a residential area and I applied the brakes while approaching a stop sign. When I pressed the brakes the brake pedal went down to the ground and a loud grinding noise was heard. The brake light came on and the slip light came on. The cars breaks didn't squeeze tight enough to stop the SUV within a safe distance and caused me to run the stop sign. It happened again a few days later while going at a higher rate of speed while approaching a stop light. In order to fix the problem I had to shut down the vehicle and restart it. It has happened a total of three times within three months.
The brakes do no work properly. The abs engages sporadically and the brake light comes on. The braking systems does not work normally and there is a loss of brake function. When the vehicle is turned off, the issue resets and the brakes will work again.
I was slowing down for a stoplight. Applied brakes but little pressure and heard a grinding sound also the brake pedal was spongy. The brake light on the dash was on.
2004 Nissan Armada has a brake problem. The brake light comes on while driving. I have to turn off truck and turn it back on to reset break light. If I use brakes when light is on the abs does not work, it makes a springy crunching noise when brake is pressed. The pedal went down so easily when it did this. Listen. Help. I understand that the problem is the call: "brake booster "or "master brake cylinder "is expensive and I check online and notice that many peoples already has this problem and not only 2004, also2005, 2006,2007 ! Nissan shall have this in re-call such that's very dangerous I tock the suggestion that write to this very important website thank you !!.
The brake light came on and with no warning the brake pedal went to the floor and there was a digital type grinding noise with almost no use of breaks. Drove the vehicle to the near dealership and was told that they have been instructed by Nissan to reprogram a vdc unit. We were told that if the problem returns we are to need to replace a brake booster $818. So last week problem happened again without warning this time with my 3yr old daughter in the car and I was lucky that it did not result in an accident. $818 is a financial hardship for an obvious huge safety issue with Nissan. My understanding of others in the same situation is that the brake booster is not the problem but that the problem lies in the abs but nisaan has no interest in the safety of their vehicles or the people driving them. The vehicle is parked as I am too afraid to drive it needing to drive up and down a mountain. I was floored to hear that this has been an ongoing issue with Nissan Armada owners and nothing has been done for a recall of this issue. I don't want someone to lose their life in order for Nissan to fix their problem. Please help!.
Pulling out of walmart parking lot and came to a stop sign. So I step on the brake to slow down and the brake pedal had little pressure to barely stop the 6000lbs SUV, very scary! also made a grinding or chattering noise from the driver side, and the brake light also came on during that time. Took the SUV to the dealer to check out the problem and they stated that it could be the delta sensor inside of the brake booster that is bad and stated it also need to be reprogram after that part replacement??? so they told me it will cost $1004. 56 out the door to fix that problem. I feel that Nissan should be responsible for replacing the defected parts , since there is a lot of owners experiencing the same problems.
Just recently I have had 2 incidents where randomly the brake light would come on and the vehicle would not stop. The vehicle made a horrific sound when applying the brakes and stopping power was probably reduced to about 20%. When the vehicle was turned off and restarted everything was back to normal. Luckily both times I was in a parking lot and not traveling fast. If I had been on a highway trying to make a quick stop it could have caused a fatal accident. I had the vehicle repaired at crown Nissan in birmingham al. They replaced the delta sensor and brake booster for 900. 00+ dollars. It makes me wonder if these components should of been replaced when the brakes where replaced by Nissan under recall because of inadequate sized rotors. The delta sensor and brake booster could be inadequate for the new brakes that were put on my vehicle. I opened case xxxx3057 with Nissan north America to see if they would assist with the cost of the repair. They denied the claim and wouldn't even send me a follow up in writing after multiple requests. Seems they want to hide their decision.
As I pushed on the brakes, there was a grinding sound and the car sort of shook (similar to abs going off, but a little different, and I wasn't slipping). It was very hard for me to stop and the brake pedal felt very squishy. The emergency brake light came on and would not turn off. The problem would not go away until I turned the car off. As soon as I did that, and turned it back on the problem went away. This has happened multiple times since then, with no warning and under many different circumstances. No one can find the problem because it goes away when you turn the car off.
Brake lights came on and when I hit the brakes, they made a springy noise and went to the floor. We ran off the road on the interstate because traffic was backed up and slow and was afraid I was going to hit the car in front of me. No damage to any vehicle other than one of my tires blowing due to the rough terrain.
I was driving about 50mph and tried to stop vehicle and it barely stopped and the brakes made a scrubbing sound. I turned the truck off and the brake light went off. This has happened several times sometimes when I first start the vehicle up.
While driving my Nissan Armada 2004, my brakes light came on, brakes locked up, brakes pedal did not work and there was a loud grinding sound. Was very scary for my children, husband and myself. Pull my vehicle over to the side as far as I could. Brake pedal did not work properly, was as if the vehicle was stopping dead in its tracks, but still moving. Put my vehicle in park, turned off ignition and restarted it. Brake light went off, no noise and pedal seemed to be working!.
I own a 2004 Nissan Armada le that I have owned since 2004. In 2007, I had an issue with the brakes, brake light coming on, brakes feeling "crunchy", grinding noises and decreased braking power. That issue resolved on its own, but now it is happening again and more often. The brake light comes on, decreased braking power, etc. I have researched the web and found multiple forums where hundreds, if not thousands, of people who own the same vehicle are having the same problems. This is a major safety issue. With so many people having this issue, I feel it is a problem with the design and should be recalled.
I have an 04 Armada we were driving it a week ago, when we came to a stop sign and the brakes failed. It made a grinding noise, brake lights were on but no brakes very scary for us. This has happened numerous times and Nissan told me its the brake booster that's failing but it is not under warranty and therefore not covered. Researching this there is hundreds if not thousands of the same brake issue with these Armadas.
Applied brakes , brake light went on abs stopped working, brakes groan. They work at 10 %. Please see youtube enter Armada brake system problem. There are 100's of complaints for the exact same failure. There is a problem in the brake booster. Once you shut off the vehicle and restart it the abs resets until the next occurrence. This has occurred many times over the years, this system failure will cause death if not addressed.
Pulled out of driveway, put it in forward gear, heard a metal clicking noise. Went maybe 30 yards to the no outlet stop sign of our road and brake light came on in the dash, pressed down on the brake pedal to stop at the stop sign and the brakes started to surge. I did stop way before the sign but was scary. Stopped and shut the vehicle off and looked at it. Started up and light went off. Drove 5 blocks and coming to a street light at a busy state road and brake light came on again, brakes started surging on the decline of the road and I finally came to a stop maybe 5 feet before going out into the busy intersection of the street light. I have read many 2004/2005's having this issue once I did some research but nothing has been done for a recall except classification br06-007 & reference ntb06-040. There is definitely an issue Nissan needs to solve and have a recall done!.
As I was driving the brake light came on and a very loud noise came on with it. My truck began to lock up and slow down. After trying to step on the brakes to get it to stop several times, it finally came to a stop. I was terrified because I didn't think the truck would stop and I almost ran into the back of someone. After getting the brakes to work, I put the truck in park and turned it off. I sat there in traffic with my hazard lights on and waited for about a minute. I started my truck back up and put it into drive. I drove a few feet and the entire ordeal started all over again. This time after getting it to stop. I put it in park and sat in traffic for about 3-5 minutes with my hazard lights on. After I started it up again, the truck drove fine. This is not the first time this has happened, and I've taken it to several dealerships, but naturally they could find nothing wrong. I reported it to Nissan and each time I took it to them for service, they never found anything wrong with it. I even went on a dashboard on line to see if anyone else was experiencing this problem, and they have. Some say it was the brake booster, but after they got it changed they still had the same problem. I've been experiencing this problem since I have had the truck and when it happened the first time, I was told that sometimes it takes a little longer for the computer to register that the hand brakes are off. I was told this by Nissan service department. This needs to be a safety recall because it truly is a safety issue. This problem has gotten worse as the years go by. Something is wrong and it's something that has been wrong with the vehicle. It only happens at certain times and I have had my brakes inspected, changed, and all of the above. Someone needs to put this out to Nissan and have them issue a recall before someone gets seriously hurt or worse killed.
While driving down the freeway the brake light came on and the brakes were soft until you reached the bottom. Then the brakes would engage but would bring the truck to a sudden stop. In the middle of the freeway with 4 kids ranging from 2-12 and 3 adults it could have been a serious if not fatal accident. I managed to control the truck and get off the freeway. This has happened before but not in these driving conditions. My family was very distressed. I pulled into a local dealership to check it out since turning the vehicle off will reset the problem. I was told that the brake booster needed to be replaced because of a bad delta stroke sensor. This will cost approximately 928 dollars. This has been an ongoing problem and as I have researched the inernet I am not the only one. I pray no one has a serious accident. If the issue is reoccuring all over the country with the brake problem then recall it. I guess we will have to major accident for Nissan to do something.
While traveling on road (good conditions) the brake light (red) comes on and a grinding noise along with a moderate braking comes on without driver ever touching parking brake or foot brake. When brake is applied the vehicle comes to a sudden stop along with loud grinding noise. This grinding noise continues until the ignition is turned off then back on again. This happened more than a dozen times and I have brought it in for servicing but no resolution. This is a grave safety hazard.
Driving 2004 Nissan Armada se off road travelling at low speed (20 mph or less) in traffic. Brake light comes on in the dashboard, brake pressure goes to near nothing (have to push pedal all the way to floor to stop car) and brakes make a grinding noise under the steering column. Car stops eventually but no confidence car would stop suddenly. Problem is fixed temporarily if car is turned off and restarted. Happens intermittently could go 3-4 weeks without a problem, but everytime seems to be at low speed in traffic with repetitive use of the brakes. Nissan dealer can't replicate problem and can't diagnose problem without seeing car with brake failure indicator still on. They are recommending potentially replacing abs computer $1,500 but no guarantee that will fix problem.
I have a 2004 Nissan Armada, and I was driving when the brake light came on and the abs system engaged on its on and I lost braking power. I shut the car off and the problem went away this is a very serious problem that someone can get hurt or be killed from. I contacted Nissan, and im going to take it to the dealership for diagnosis. Please look into this matter before someone dies.
Brakes stopped working! brake light came on when I tried to come to a stop I had maybe 20% brake usage. If I had not noticed the light coming on and had to stop in an emergency would have crashed for sure! I have 3 kids, a great grandmother and 2 other kids that I watch 5 days a week. These will be a tragedy if the problem is not fixed. I have taken it to the dealer a number of times to be told there is no problem. Only for it to keep happening. Please help us a force Nissan to recall these models and repair so that we can be safe on our roads.
Vehicle brake light comes on, brake makes a springy sound, brakes become spongy and it is difficult to stop. Once we came to a stop turned the vehicle off then on and the issue went away. It's scary to put my family back in the vehicle.
Symptom: Nissan vehicle looses braking ability when this symptom happens. Brake light comes on the dashboard, brake pedal goes all the way to the floor, and there is grinding noise from the front end toward the wheels. Vehicle braking ability is reduced to 10% or less. Turning ignition off/on resolves for short time, but not a permanent fix. Nissan has TSB ntb06-040 to clear the code c1179 from brake module. I had preformed at my cost and issue came back. Called Nissan and opend a file number 7181591, but they are blaming it on me, not the flaw that is happening to 100's of other Armadas including me. I am requesting safecar. Gov to probe Nissan about the brake issue that is affecting 2004 Armada, titan, and infinity qx56 and to find out if they are doing anything to fix it. . Read more...
Brake light comes on and a springing clutter noise happens. I stop the car, turn it off and turn back again it's back to normal. It happens piratically once a month or so but always scary. Dealership claims it's finding nothing.
