Service engine soon light came on and I began to smell gasoline. Gas tank rotted out around fuel sending unit gasket. Fuel sending unit and gas tank replaced. I do not have the old gas tank but I did photograph it digitally. I understand there was a recall for nearly 500,000 of these vehicles but dealer reported mine was not covered under recall.

When parking '07 Nissan Frontier into a parking stall, I pressed on the brake pedal to come to a full stop. The engine then started to race and move the truck forward. I already had the brake pedal down to the floor with no response, the truck climb the parking curb and hit a sitgn and then a parked car. Couldn't believe that nothing could stop the truck till it hit the car and then the engine stopped racing. I had the insurance adjuster take alook at the truck and made him press the brakes where it went down to the floor. He then had a towing company tow the truck down to the dealership to prevent another accident. Dealer had the truck for a week but could not find anything wrong with the truck. They noted that the brake pedal was soft but it should be okay. They could not get the motor to race so they could not do anything. They did all the test that they could but informed me that they can't fix something they cannot find.

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. While driving at an unknown speed, the engine warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel. The vehicle would sporadically stall. Speed was not a factor during the failures. After the vehicle would stall, it would take a long time to automatically restart. The dealer could not duplicate the failure and provide a remedy. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic, who stated that the gasoline delivery pump was potentially defective. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but because it exceeded the warranty, they would not repair the vehicle for free. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 15,000 and current mileage was 71,853.

I have a 2003 Nissan Frontier SC, the super charged model, with 43,000 miles. I was drive on the nys thruway last Saturday. The ambient temperature was extremely low -10f. The truck was intermittently losing power. It finally went into a slow idle and lost all power. I pulled over and tried to call for help. I had my wife and 14 month old child in the truck with me. It was a very dangerous situation. We had no power, it was extremely cold and it had been snowing at near blizzard conditions. I was not able to get off the road. I was very concerned about the safety of my wife and child. After 15 minutes of making calls, I tried to start the truck again. The check engine light was on, but the truck started and ran normally. That evening, after the truck had been sitting for a few hours, the same problem occurred. This time, I was in 4wd and trying to drive through snow at higher rpms when the truck lost power. I took the truck to the burdick Nissan, a dealership in cicero, NY. They told me I needed a new air flow meter. I see that the 2002 models were experiencing the exact same problem, but they were recalled (r2013) and the fix is to reprogram the existing meter. The cost of the part (air flow meter) is $600. 00!.
