1 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/20/2013

Fuel gauge is no longer accurate. Nhtsa campaign id # 10v075000 was issued for 2006 Nissan Frontiers. I called Nissan but they said my VIN number was not included in the recall. Apparently they think it's just a coincidence that I'm having the exact same problem with my 2006 Nissan Frontier. "Nissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 Frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles. The molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. Fuel gauge reads just under a quarter tank at all times, no matter if the tank is empty or full.

2 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/16/2013

My 2005 Nissan Frontier le 4x4 recorded a p0463 (fuel level sensor circuit high input) earlier this week. It cleared came back once, and now is constant. After filling the tank, the fuel gauge took approximately 20 minutes to register full. Now my fuel gauge does not work at all- it simply displays zero fuel present in the tank. I've already ran out of fuel once this week, on the highway. I've contacted a local Nissan dealership, apparently Nissan has a recall (or TSB?) for certain Nissan Frontiers- however my particular vehicle has 133,000 miles and is thus not eligible. Can you please assist?.

3 Tank Assembly problem of the 2000 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

Fuel leak from top of defective fuel tank (corrosion) confirmed by Nissan 112 patchogue, NY. There was a recall on 2001 Frontiers for the same reason but not on the 2000. I see many other 2000 Frontier owners have the same safety issue and that in most cases Nissan replaced the tank for no charge. I am seeking for them to do the same for my vehicle or recall the 2000 Frontier for this defect.

4 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 06/20/2013

After filling up my gas tank, the fuel gauge stayed on empty when I started my 2007 Frontier. As I was driving along the highway, the gauge slowly moved to the full position (roughly an hour after fill-up) yesterday, 7/14/13 I filled up- thinking the previous incident was a fluke. This time the check engine light came on(still on) and the gauge is only at half a tank. The local Nissan dealer quoted me $500. 00 to fix the issue ,and told me that 72,000 miles was the cut-off for the warranty again, it has 85,000 miles on it.

The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, to have the recall performed. However, the dealer stated after the repairs were completed, there was still a major problem with the engine, but it was not a part of the recall.

6 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 09/25/2012

The check engine light came on while starting the truck. It was place on the diagnostic machine and the result was that a sensor in the gas tank was not working. I received a recall notice one week after the warranty had expired. The notice stated that the warranty would take care of the problem. I emailed Nissan to complain and never heard from them.

9 Tank Assembly problem of the 2001 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 03/11/2012

Engine stopped while on highway. Unable to restart. On checking vehicle, discovered water in fuel tank. After removing fuel tank from vehicle, noticed, access to fuel tank from top severely corroded. The fuel tank is located directly below space between cab of truck and bed. This allows water to enter through the space. The access to the tank has a raised ring and a groove that runs around the ring, which allows water to collect. The whole ring is corroded and their is holes in the top of the tank. I feel this is a poorly designed tank and poor location of tank. My son and my friend has the same make and model and the both experienced the same problem. My son junked his truck and my friend used j-weld to make makeshift repairs. I live in a community with a population of 2000 residence, which makes me believe that this cannot be a isolated incident. Thank you.

10 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 03/06/2012

The instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty.

11 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 02/10/2012

Fuel gauge inaccuracy - Nissan chose not to include model year 2005 Frontiers in a voluntary safety recall campaign that was issued on 2006 and 2008 Frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles (campaign id# pc 042). In the alternative, Nissan extended the warranty of 2005 models from 36 to 72 months. My 2005 vehicle is now exhibiting the condition the condition wherein the fuel gage reads one quarter tank, when the tank is actually empty. This resulted in an out of fuel incident occurring on the highway, a near accident and subsequently being stranded awaiting roadside assistance. Although my vehicle only has 41,000 miles - it has been 78 months since purchase and Nissan is denying my request for coverage of the repair cost. Had Nissan rightly informed me of the condition via inclusion in the recall campaign - I would have had the defective fuel sending unit replaced immediately. Instead I am being forced to cover the cost of repair for this safety defect. I therefore am requesting reimbursement for my related expenses.

12 Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/20/2011

While driving, service engine soon light appeared with code p0448. After code appeared, cannot fill up gas tank without gas spilling out. Called dealer and they said this is unrelated.

13 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/16/2011

At 7600 miles I hear a noise on the engine and check engine lights came on and gas gauge star reading empty went was full I took to the dealer they told me the noise was coming from some where in the engine they never told me was timing, chain,I took to a local repair shop and they found out that timing chain was the problem ,the check engine light at the dealer told me the was the that the reason for the gas tank read empty was t due a gas module.

14 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/02/2011

After filling with fuel on 12/2/2011, the fuel gauge was hung at about 1/4 tank. I drove approximately 75 miles before the fuel gauge was registering near full. On 12/8/2011, I filled the tank with fuel, and upon starting the engine the fuel gauge read "empty" and the fuel light was on. I drove approximately 85 miles, but the fuel gauge remained on empty with the fuel light on. On 12/9/2011, I contacted Nissan consumer affairs concerning the recall on this model of vehicle and I was told that my VIN was not included in the recall. However, Nissan did open a file number (7327001) and it is being forwarded to a regional specialist for review, but am told it is unlikely that the fuel sending unit will be covered. There is apparently a problem with the fuel sending unit, as Nissan had extended the warranty on this component to 72,000 miles, but am told that unfortunately I have exceeded the warranty period. I was also told that I would have to take my vehicle to a Nissan dealer for diagnosis, at my expense, and no certainty if Nissan will stand good for the defective part. So the dealer can charge me approximately $120. 00 to me what I already know? I would consider this a highway safety issue; not knowing if you are getting an accurate fuel quantity reading, and the possibility of being stranded.

15 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 10/01/2011

This complaint is in regards to NHTSA campaign # 10v-075. Summary of the issue we are having is the same as the one stated in the recall. Due to a problem with the fuel sender float arm, our fuel guage is showing that the vehicle has about 1/4 of a tank when the fuel tank is empty. We took the Nissan Frontier to a dealer to get this problem fixed and that told us that they would not fix the problem for free (as stated would happen in the recall notice) because the vehicle had too many miles on it. They confusingly tried to discribe that the issue was a warranty extension and not a recall. We then call Nissan national customer affairs and they confused things even more. I was told by a service rep manager that there was 2 service programs for the problem we were having. One was a "recall" that would be fixed without date or mileage limits. In this situation, the problem caused the fuel guage to be stuck on full. The other was a "warrantly extension" that had a date or mileage limitation. In this situation, the fuel gauge would be stuck at about 1/4 tank when the tank was really less than that or empty. This is completely inaccurate information regarding what is stated in this safety recall campaign. I was told by the national service rep manager that Nissan will not fix this problem under this recall campaign.

16 Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 09/08/2011

Fuel leaking from tank caused by corroded tank parts.

17 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 07/29/2011

I pulled into the gas station and filled up like I normally do. When I started my engine, my gas gauge did not climb past the 1/4 mark. I turned my truck on and off 2 more times to see if this might fix the problem, it did not. As I drove home, the gauge climbed ever so slowly before stopping at 1/2 tank. This is when the check engine light came on. I got home and googled the problem and this seems to be a fairly common problem. What I don't understand is why the 06 and 08 models are recalled but not the 07. I refuse to take it to my local dealership because I have always had less then stellar service and just refuse to deal with them and be forced to overpay.

18 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 07/18/2011

Fuel gauge on 2006 Nissan Frontier indicated 1/4 tank of fuel when it was actually empty. I ran out of gas on a busy highway, very dangerous exit to side of road.

19 Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

The contact owns a 2002 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that he noticed that the fuel tank was leaking. 20 Tank Assembly problem of the 2001 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

I purchased my Nissan Frontier from a Nissan dealer "as is" which was fine til the first time I filled it up. The smell of gas made me pull over right away. Couldn't find or see a leak but sure could smell it. Shortly after check engine light goes on. Had a mechanic look at it to find fuel is leaking from the top of the fuel tank. I see I'm not the only person to complain about it. Hopefully someone will investigate before someone gets hurt. I'm on s. S. D. I can not afford this problem that should be recalled. Tried to locate a new tank for the truck. Can't find one. I can't see putting a recycled defect in. Anyone with the same problem needs to call the NHTSA so we can get the recall started. Now Nissan changed the tank and added access panel behind the back seat on newer models. So I don't fill my truck and it still smells of gas but not as bad. Hopefully help is around the corner.

21 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/18/2011

I recently had a "service engine light" appear and when I had it diagnosed at the dealer I was told it was a fuel sensor failure that is located in the gas tank. . I of course agreed to have it serviced which they did and reset the engine light. I was researching another issue with my vehicle when I stumbled across a recall on this same year truck for the same items I just paid for. The recall by Nissan ntb10-031a issued in may 19, 2010. This recall extended into 2011. It seems ironic that within a few months period I had a fuel system failure that required the same service and exactly the same parts replaced as described in the recall. I feel this was just too close and too much of a coincidence to not fall into this recall.

22 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/05/2011

I turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. After driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. I went directly to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was no longer covered after 30k miles. After returning home and doing research, I went online to x. Nissanhelp. Com after performing a search, I came across many others who have experienced the same problem. Apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. A similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger. It seems that somthing in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. There is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 2 yrs and with around 39k-49k. If this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, Frontiers, and pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. Cost of repair ranges from $300-600. ".

23 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 03/12/2011

Filled up gas tank gauge would not move then my service engine light came on.

24 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 02/25/2011

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that when refueling the vehicle, the fuel level indicator would display the tank as empty. In addition, when the fuel tank was full, the fuel level indicator would only display one quarter a tank of fuel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was working on diagnosing the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000. The VIN was not available.

25 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 01/21/2011

The fuel guage malfunctioned it would indicate that it was empty eventhough the tank was full. I talked to service manager, he says that Nissan would not cover repair because it was not a recall item. Nissan did have a recall on the same item for the 2006 and 2008 models. They could not explain why the 2007 models were not included.

26 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 50 mph, the contact noticed that the fuel gauge displayed an empty reading with a full consumption of fuel in the tank. The fuel gauge reading fluctuated whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and was repaired three times under recall number 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: auxiliary tank). The remedy did not correct the problem and the failure continued. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000. The VIN was unavailable.

27 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/29/2010

Service engine soon (ses) light is on constantly. Fuel system reads erratic levels - when it reaches approx 1/4 to 3/8 of a tank, the fuel gauge drops to the bottom and the light comes on, as though the tank were empty. The truck reports p0463 code.

28 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/22/2010

I was driving home on the expressway hwy 75 south downtown atlanta GA and all of a sudden my truck just stopped running. I manage to cost to the side of the expressway. After several attempts to restart the truck I called for help. Had the truck town to a local shop only to find out that it ran out of gas. The culprit a faulty fuel gauge a known issue with the 2007 Frontier models. I contacted Nissan to have it replace but I was told that since I was over 72000 miles that I would have to replace it the cost to me. I will never buy another Nissan as long as I live I almost got ran over trying to get the truck to the side of the roadway. My fuel gauge was reading 1/2 of tank of gas. This should be a safety recall. I know that it will not be considered one until someone is killed as a result of this issue and this is very sad especially since Nissan has known about the issue since day one.

29 Tank Assembly problem of the 2010 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/13/2010

This vehicle has a known problem among Nissan Frontier message boards. When you fill the gas tank you must fill it slowly or the gas will "bubble up" and spill out of the entrance where you put the gas nozzle. It will run down the fender, onto the paint, and onto the ground. . Read more...

30 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 11/28/2010

The check engine warning indicator illuminated whenever the vehicle was on it remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. Nhtsa campaign recall id number 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: auxiliary tank) was associated with the failure. The VIN was not included in the recall; although, the vehicle experienced the similar failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the defect and provided no assistance. The contact stated that the vehicle will be repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

31 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 11/11/2010

I owned a Nissan Frontier 2005 and just lately I noticed the fuel gauge assy not working when I put full tank fuel and yet the gauge still reads zero. I received a notice from Nissan that indeed there was a recall on 2005 Frontier for fuel gauge failures. I brought my car to the nearest Nissan repair shop and but they don't acknowledge that this is covered under the recall since my mileage is more than 90k miles and they said the recall had lapse already. I refuted that I just received the letter last week and how come it has lapsed already. But still they ask me to pay more that $400 for the repair.

32 Tank Assembly problem of the 2000 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 10/28/2010

2000 Nissan Frontier fuel sending unit set off service engine light. This was a recall which was repaired on 6 sept 2007 fuel tank and sending unit were replaced. Vehicle had 62698 miles then. Now fuel sending unit set off service engine light again at 73444 miles. Gas tank corroded around sending unit just 3 years and 11000 miles later. Fuel tank and sending unit were replaced again, at my expense. How was this a fixed recall when Nissan still has the same problem and will not pay for it?.

33 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 10/15/2010

Filled up 2005 Nissan Frontier with gas. After turning the truck back on the fuel gage dropped to empty. Then, when I started driving the check engine light came on. It has not went off and the fuel gauge will not go back up even with a full tank of gas.

34 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 10/09/2010

On approximately 10/9/2010, my fuel gauge stopped working correctly (approx. 39k miles on the vehicle). With about 1/4 tank full, I filled the tank but the gauge did not register "full". After a day or two, the gauge registered correctly. It has been working intermittently since this time and now there is a "service engine soon" light appearing. This problem is widely reported by Nissan truck owners.

35 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 09/25/2010

I have a 2007 Nissan Frontier, and the gas tank sensor failed like so many others from 2005 to 2010. I ran out of gas the first time and it stopped so suddenly I almost got rear ended. I called Nissan and they said that my VIN number doesn't fall in the recall list. I am on forums and everyone is having issues with this but they are only picking a few to fix. This is wrong. Anyways now when I fill it up it goes to empty and the light comes on and the check engine light lights. Then after 30 or so miles it ever so slowly starts to climb until it is full. Then for no reason it will go empty again. It keeps going through this cycle.
