Nissan Frontier owners have reported 9 problems related to tank mounting (under the gasoline fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Frontier based on all problems reported for the Frontier.
My gas gauge began giving bad reading after driving several miles. Went to 1/2 tank and stayed there. This continued for several weeks. Filled the gas tank. The next day the engine repair light came on while driving to work. Checked the code and it was the fuel sending unit. Reset and the light went out. Unit worked fine. Next fill up the light came on again and the fuel gauge. Kept jumping around. Not knowing the amount of gas and running out at speed would cause lose of steering and brake control. Nissan recalled the 2006&2008 models to fix. I can't imagine that they did not use same unit in 2007 model.

The fuel sending unit fails to indicate the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. Nissan Frontier ex. Nissan north America has sent me a letter regarding this failure and have extended the warranty, however now that I went to a dealer for the repair, Nissan has been very uncooperative and giving me the runaround, refusing to pay for the repair even after they assigned a file # to my case.

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that after filling up the fuel tank, the fuel gauge would indicate an inaccurate amount of fuel that was truly in the tank; it would show that the tank was empty. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who advised him that the fuel sender was the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000. The VIN was unavailable.
On my 2005 Nissan Frontier truck the "service engine soon" lights comes on and the fuel gauge does not read the correct fuel level. One cannot tell how many miles are left in driving on the tank of fuel due to improper reports by the on-board computer along with the improper reading on the fuel gauge, creating a hazardous condition for travel, especially during night driving and in mountain pass conditions in winter. Diagnostics indicate a faulty fuel sensor, but Nissan refuses to replace as the current recall only goes to 72k miles. This problem started past 81k miles on my vehicle. It is apparent this problem is systemic and a real issue that Nissan is hard-bent on not covering, if they don't have to. They told me there was nothing they would do as my truck has too many miles on it. I advised them that they should cover the issue, given its quite apparent there is a systemic problem at hand. The Nissan representative told me there was nothing they could do as the recall does not extend that far out and they are not required to fix it, I believe they should be made to fix the problem.

Fuel tank gauge becomes erratic, no way to determine amount of fuel in tank. Common problem with this vehicle no recall issued but Nissan has issued a tech service bulletin TSB: ntb07069.
My 2006 Nissan Frontier has a problem with the fuel sending unit. The fuel sensor (part number 25060-zs00a) that is attached goes bad and gives inaccurate fuel level readings. This can cause a safety hazard if the driver is not given a correct read out of the amount of gas in the tank. This is a well known problem to Nissan, they have a "service bulletin" for the problem as of October 4th, 2007, yet they have not issued a recall for the problem as it is a clear safety issue. I went to a Nissan dealership in long beach CA (1800 e spring st, signal hill, ca - (562) 426-0333) and they needed $100+ to begin to work on my truck, and another $400+ to fix it. Seeing as how this is a safety issue I should not have to pay a dollar out of pocket. I called the Nissan corporate number 1800nissan1. They informed me that I would still have to pay the money to get it fixed and they could not tell me if I could be reimbursed until after the repairs are made, and my money already spent. I have done research on the internet and found many people with the same problem I do. Also, the service advisor at the Nissan dealership I visited was already well aware of the problem as he had seen it numerous times in Frontiers he has worked with. This shows that Nissan is being negligent with this safety issue and it needs to be fixed.
I own a 2006 Nissan Frontier, the fuel level sensor has gone bad. This is an internal part of the gas tank, not conducive to wear and tear. I have no idea the amount of gas I have in my vehicle because it affects the gas gauge reading zero. Having children in the car,I can't afford to get stranded in middle of nowhere. Cost of repair $400+.
2005 Nissan Frontier gas gauge dose not give proper, readings does not read full when tank is fill up. Seems to read lower amounts after each fill up . Don't want to run out of gas, must keep track of mileage. Just bought truck in Dec. Of 08, 28,000 miles on it.
Nissan 2006 Frontier, bad fuel level sensor, as per trouble code p0463. I have researched this online and have found hundreds of complaints for all different types of Nissans having the same problem as myself. Basically service engine light comes on and gas gauge works intermittently, gives false reading of amount of fuel in tank. I personally have run out of gas on several occasions as a result. This problem started at approx 55k miles, this is consistent with other peoples complaints as well.
