Recall 2009 Nissan Maxima when driving this vehicle the front end of the car is not stable feel like the car is wobbling and the tire is going to come off. And I always hear this loud cracking/popping sound when backing up and when I put the car in drive and go forward, while driving I sometimes can her this cracking/squeaking sound and also the tire indicator constantly stays on. I have take it to the shop to be checked, and they have check the air pressure in each tire on my car and also the spare tire in the trunk of my car several times. And the tire indicator will not go off. God forbid if when I go over a speed bump the entire car makes this loud squeaking sound. When my vehicle engine is on passage airbag indicator keep blanking and will not go off, stays on constantly. Something is wrong with this. I do not feel safe with passage in my car because of this problem. By the grace of god I have not had an accident. " god blessed".

Issue is with the passenger seat airbag sensor. The airbag light comes on, indicating the airbag is off, even when an adult is sitting in the passenger seat. This problem occurs at different times, including if a passenger is in the seat before the car is started, if a passenger gets in the seat after the car is started. Sometimes the light turns off, sometimes it doesn't. We have videos showing multiple instances of this happening. Nissan claims there is no problem, can not duplicate the problem, and refuses to replace the sensor. Other Nissans have had this problem and are subject to recall. The Maxima needs to be included in the recall.

I have a 2014 Nissan Maxima and have had an issue with the passenger seat airbag sensor for over a year. The airbag light comes on, indicating the airbag is off, even when an adult is sitting in the passenger seat. The problem occurs at different times, including if a passenger is seated in the car before the car is started or if a passenger gets in the seat after the car is started. The problem persists while the car is in motion or when the car or brought to a stop. Occasionally the light turns off, most times it does not turn off. I have taken the vehicle to the local Nissan dealership, gettle Nissan in sarasota FL, and they cannot duplicate the problem and claim there is no problem. They refused to provide any further assistance since they could not duplicate the problem, however the problem continues to occur and I can provide pictures and/or video showing the problem. I have now seen numerous reports from other Nissan Maxima owners with this same issue and it is time for Nissan to add the 2014 Maxima to their recall.

The driver side airbag has malfunction with the light constantly flashing. Took vehicle to Nissan dealers to diagnose what is causing the problem with airbag light constantly flashing and was told they do not know, but if I get involve in an accident the airbag probably will not inflate. They print out several steps Nissan north America recommends to fix the problem which would cost me thousands of dollars. My seat-belts are powertrain until 2018. This makes no since that my driver side airbag all of a sudden stop working even though I have had no accidents involving my car therefore, Nissan should voluntarily fix the problem before I am involved in an accident and my airbag does not inflate which could lead to deadly consequences. I want the fhta to contact Nissan and have them to work to resolve this issue before it leaves to something seriously. Nissan dealer even stated that this problem might have happen by me turning my steering wheel which made no sense to me.

Takata recall - the airbag light is on and per the dealer the spiral cable and clock spring needs to be replaced. They explained that the part is what's needed for the airbag to return back once deployed. They informed me the airbag will deploy if in an accident, but it won't return like it was originally designed to do. The vehicle has never been in an accident; therefore, the airbag hasn't been deployed.
Air bag light come on when someone is sitting in the seat saying air bag is off.
Last week, the air bag light on my 2009 Nissan Maxima started flashing. I took my car to the don davis Nissan dealership and they ran the diagnostic tool to find the failure. They told me the occupant sensor in the passenger seat had failed, and they quoted $1476. 30 for the repair. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs to see if the failure was covered by my warranty or if there was a recall for the part, but was told no. Nissan recorded my complaint and opened a case # for any future recall campaigns. Nissan consumer affairs called me, and told on 04/14/2015 they would offer no assistance. I do not understand why Nissan warranty does not cover a failure to a major safety component in their car. Their warranty does cover the seat belts, but not the air bag system??.
2003 Nissan Maxima. Airbags was not working on vehicle according to an local service dept. The consumer stated the air bag light started blinking. Two weeks later, she received a recall letter regarding the air bag, after the first dealer, told her there was nothing wrong.

Earlier this year, the air bag light on my 2009 Nissan Maxima started flashing. I took my car into my mechanic and he ran the diagnostic tool to find the failure. He told me the occupant sensor in the passenger seat had failed, disabling the entire air bag system. He quoted me $1,243. 00 for the repair ($895 – parts, $348 – labor). I contacted Nissan consumer affairs to see if the failure was covered by my warranty or if there was a recall for the part, but was told no. Nissan recorded my complaint and opened a case # for any future recall campaigns. Nissan then instructed me to take my car into my local Nissan dealer, so they could run the diagnostic tool and provide an official failure report. After I received the report, I was told to contact Nissan consumer affairs to see if they could assist in paying for the repair. On 12/15, I dropped my car off at executive Jeep/Nissan in north haven. They ran the diagnostic and sent me a copy of the report. I called Nissan consumer affairs again, and told them executive had the report information they required. Nissan consumer affairs contacted executive, reviewed my case, and informed me on 12/19 they would offer no assistance. Executive Jeep/Nissan quoted $1476. 30 for the repair. My car had 74k miles on it at the time this failure occurred. The passenger seat is occupied a few times a month at best. Since this is an internal part, it is not exposed to the elements, nor is it subject to major wear and tear. The failure has disabled the entire air bag system in my car, which is quite alarming. I do not understand why Nissan would engineer their car’s air bag system to completely shut down when one component fails. Also, I do not understand why Nissan’s warranty does not cover a failure to a major safety component in their car. Their warranty does cover the seat belts, but not the air bag system??.

The failure recurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the left air bag assembly cable needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000, and the current mileage was 131,000.

My wife weighs about 135 pounds . The airbag on passenger side does not work properly when she sits in the seat the airbag light goes on which indicates that the airbag is not working I have pictures to validate. So far Nissan is not trying to rectify the problem I have taken the car to 2 dealers , they say everthing is normal but the photo prove my complaint.
The contact owns a 2001 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced and repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 13v136000 (air bags) however, the air bag light illuminated three times after the recall service. The dealer confirmed that the failure was caused by the recall defect. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacture was made aware of the recurring failure. The failure mileage was 150,000. The VIN was not available.
When an adult is in the front passenger seat, the passenger airbag light will ocasionally light up indicating that the airbag has turned itself off.

Passenger airbag light is on indicating airbag is off when my wife sits in the passenger seat. She is 5'3" and weights approximately 102lbs. Took it to dealer, autonation lewisville, TX. After consulting with Nissan they said it was functioning normally. It is not functioning normally and is a serious safety matter. Noticed numerous complaints online about same subject. It is time for Nissan to admit they have a problem and get it fixed.
Passenger side airbag turns on and off with a passenger (weighing over 120 lbs. ) seated with the seat belt fastened and the vehicle is in motion. The airbag shows off at times when the vehicle is first started if the passenger is already seated with their seatbelt fastened. Even taking the seatbelt off and getting up does not seem to make the light go off. Our Nissan service center explained to me that Nissan north America is aware of this particular problem, but since no resolution/fix has been determined, there is nothing they can do. The service department also verified that if the passenger airbag light is on, the airbag will not work! the service department said that I should not allow anyone in the passenger seat until the problem is fixed. After three separate attempts to get the passenger airbag fixed without success and the problem continuing I submitted the motor vehicle defect notification form to Nissan north America, inc. Consumer affairs department in franklin, TN.
When I sit in the passenger seat the airbag light is illuminated, about 90% of the time. . . . It may go off at some point, but even with 110 adult it is on so that the airbag is not active.
The passenger airbag light alluminates sporadically when there is an adult passenger sitting in the seat which informs that the airbag is deactivated. Brought car to dealer 5 times over the past 6 months. Each time I was told they could not duplicate the problem and that there were no error codes showing up. The last time they checked was Friday April 4th 2014. The dealer stated the same thing. The mechanic who tested came out to talk to us about this. My wife sat in the drivers seat and started the car. I sat in the passenger seat and the light alluminated in front of the mechanic. I asked him if I was seated properly, he agreed I was and took the vehicle while it was still running to test for codes again. He could not find any error codes but, acknowledged that there was a problem. Nissan north american told me that they spoke to the repair manager and he stated that the airbag system was operating properly and Nissan told me that there is no problem. Seems strange that Nissan is recalling 994,000 2013 and 2014 vehicles for this same issue claiming there is a software problem but will not consider updating the software in my 2012 Maxima. This is a sfety issue that should be addressed by Nissan and they are refusung to do so.
The air bag light on passenger side displays with a person weighing 120 pounds, indicating air bag will not be functional in a crash. Dealer said they haven't been notified of a recall.
My Nissan maximum air bag on the passage side goes off while driving. I reported it to my dealer and Nissan corporate office. I was asked if I had something in the seat that weighted 20 pounds. I weight 142 and the air bag light comes on and stay on for sometime 20 miles driving up to 60-70 miles per hour. I fell so unsafe. I bought this car Dec. Of 2010 and it has a little over 21000 miles on it. I have been driving Nissan for over fourth years. I have been very disappointed in Nissan responses. They referred me to there bbb inc. . It was not a good result.
Passenger supplemental restraint systems (srs) status light was on while the vehicle was moving at approximately 35 mph with an adult passenger sitting in the seat. The light remained on for approximately 15 minutes. The second (2nd) incident happened on April 2 while the vehicle was moving at approximately 60 mph the srs status light turned on. The light remained on for 30 minutes. The incident was documented with photographs. On April 3, 2014, the vehicle was brought into Nissan of burlingame for service in regards to the passenger srs status light or error to the passenger srs problem. Nissan of burlingame failed to duplicate the problem and returned the car without any service done to the vehicle. The third incident happened on may 18, 2014. While the vehicle was moving at 40 mph the passenger srs (airbag) status light turns on. Again was documented with photographs and was returned to Nissan of burlingame on may 20, 2014 for service in regards to the passenger srs. Nissan of burlingame failed to duplicate the issue and returned the car without any service/repair to the vehicle in regards to the passenger srs indicator light error. Fourth incident occurred on may 22, 2014 at approximately 6:32pm while the vehicle was moving at 30 mph the passenger srs status light turned on. The srs status light remains on for approximately 15 minutes before the indicator light turns off. Again, the incident was documented with photographs. On may 23, 2014, vehicle was brought into Nissan of burlingame for service, but service advisor isaac avila deny to service the vehicle stating that they cannot do anything to the vehicle until further authorization from Nissan corporate USA.
There is a new recall for airbag senser misinterpreting the weight in the front passenger seat in many Nissan models. According to the dealership where I bought my car, my car is not included in the recall - but I have had the same issue. When my wife, who is around 130 lbs, sits in the seat, about half of the time the airbag light indicates that the airbag is disabled. She always sits all the way back in the seat. Speed or driving environment do not appear to have any effect on the issue. I have discussed the issue with two Nissan dealerships, and the issue still occurs. The first denied they could help because it wasnt currently happening when I had it at the shop. The second dealership recalibrated the sensor and it that brought the frequency down slightly to the current 50% I am frustrates that my car is not included in the current recall and feel like it needs to be expanded to include other model years, such as mine.
The airbag on the driver's side was recalled and the dealer repaired it. Now, the airbag light on the passenger side is blinking. I reported this to the dealer who said it would cost me $495. 00 to repair, which I cannot afford. What can I do?.
We purchased a 2011 Nissan Maxima in November 2011 and have a problem with the airbag light on the passenger side staying on while I am sitting in the seat. I weigh 115 lbs and am 5'1. I got no help from the Nissan dealership. I took my vehicle in several times and was told nothing was wrong with it. I talked with the service manager today and she told me that because of my size the air bag would do more harm than good so don't worry about it. I was unhappy with that answer and she told me she has done all she could do, that I was welcome to call Nissan and discuss the problem with them. I called 1-800-nissan1 and spoke with a representative that was helpful. He said the weight limit was 100lbs and I shouldn't be having this problem. He opened a case and said the service manager in our town would receive a phone call and also gave me a case number. I am hopeful that we can get this issue resolved.
The air bag light came on I took it by a local dealer they stated no code showed and didnt have an answer. The light went off a couple days later, light came back on week later took it by a local repair shop (not a dealer) he stated no code but when he touched wires under seat light went off. The lightcame back on took to my dealer(round rock Nissan) they said I need a new airbag wow their buisness was slow I was the only car there for service guess thats why they want to charge 1000. 00 to fix when all the honest dealers admited they werent sure how to fix since there was no code!!! sounds like Nissan needs to add this 2007 Maxima to its recall of the (airbag sensor or airbag harness) that is currently being recalled. Looked online alot of people have this same complaint!!!!!very dissatisfied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Passenger air bag light randomly goes on and off, whether or not there is someone or something in the seat. After the first occurrence, I was told that "it was just my purse"; I insisted that it was not and for it to be checked. The lower seat cushion assembly with pressure bladder was replaced and covered by warranty in 2011. I have had no problems until recently, it started doing the same thing and it has been tested by Nissan service technicians twice and I was told that there was nothing wrong with it. This concerns me, as safety features should not be questionable if they may function properly in the event of an accident.
Passenger airbag indicator remains on when adult (~110 lbs) is present in the passenger seat. Ensured seated properly, passenger airbag still disabled. Complained many times to dealership over the course of 3-4 years with a response of "everything is functioning properly". Finally the seat bottom was replaced to ensure the sensor was good - problem persists, Nissan dealers no longer willing to attempt to fix. This vehicle was purchased with a five-star crash safety rating, but I hardly believe that would be true with the passenger airbag not functioning. A potentially grave safety concern.
I have taken my car time and time again to fairfax Nissan for repairs and they have not been able to find a permanent solution to fix the problems. 12/23/2010 - passenger air bag light is staying on when an adult passenger is in the seat - reset system. 07/30/2011 - passenger air bag light is staying on . . . . . . . 10/20/2011 passenger air bag light staying on when an adult passenger is in the seat- found internal defect with occupant sensor in seat and replaced. 05/01/2012- etc 01/15/13 - passenger air bag light is staying on when an adult passenger is sitting in the seat. Videoed this occurring several times. Also complained about exhaust smell in cabin and was told to change cabin filter. Unable use outside air for ac or exhaust smell enters the car and creates extreme headaches. Only can use recirculated air. These continued trips without resolution have put a strain on my employment (work in the healthcare industry). I just want these issues resolved so that no injury to my family occurs from this.
