The 2 a pillar molding in the front flew off while driving on the highway and the 2 rear pillar moldings in the back are loose. It is available for inspection. This is an extreme safety concern as I was going high speeds and part of my car detached - I am thankful that it did not hit the cars near me but that doesn't mean that when I get it replaced with the faulty issue, that the new ones will not fall off. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer. There was no warning that the parts were falling off. The car has zero body damage and has never been in a wreck before. This is a known issue with the Maxima and I am disappointed that nissian knows about this, has a service bulletin (classification: bt19-011a; ref: ntb19-079a) on how to fix this known issue but the manufacturer refuses to take any accountability for their poor design flaws leading to a major safety concern.

There was a thermal combustion that caused a fire. Yes, the caught combusted at a local business. I had just entered the building and was told that my car was on fire. The police and Nissan inspected the car but refused to provide the inspection report. A light came on. I do not know the exact date that it appeared. I just received the recall notice and did not have the opportunity to get the car repaired.

Since 2018 to present day. I been having difficulties with the visibility from my front windshield at sunny days. The dashboard has this sticky substance that make the dashboard really shinny, and reflect the sun light on the windshield, blocking the view and make it hard to see the road and vehicles. I had to use sunglasses to block this issue, but in some cases this will not improved and can make it worst. I had couple of near miss, and I have to stop driving my car at times to avoid this issue.

Rear passenger pillars between passenger doors and trunk plastic trim pieces have both broken off. The plastic clips are so flimsy they broke off.
Was getting into the car. As we closed the doors, we heard the sunroof shatter. The edges of the broken glass were pushed up as if the air pressure inside the car broke the glass. If the inside cover was open, we would have been showered in glass. The manufacturer inspected and replaced the glass.

What happened today was the sunroof exploded while driving down the interstate. Loud gunshot sound! lucky the viser was closed when it happened! I have an appointment next week due to dealership backed up but they said I can come by to get it patched until my appointment day. No warning lights, messages, or anything happened before the incident occurred. Just glad no one was hurt and it didn’t cause me to have accident.
I was driving on the highway and the passenger side front pillar trim panel just flew off. This is the second time this has happened to my vehicle, the first time was my rear pillar which I paid to replace myself because I was told at the dealership this is just a cosmetic issue. I disagree, to me this is very hazardous and could potentially hurt someone, and now my car sounds like air is coming through the windshield. I don’t feel safe driving this car now and this kind of thing happening. I would feel awful if this caused an accident or if someone got hurt and I feel that Nissan should take responsibility and correct this defect as I have researched that many people have experienced the same scenario with these parts of the vehicle. The one I had replaced had different clips and definitely feels more secure, but again I don’t think enough people are reporting this issue properly, so I am because it’s dangerous.
I was driving on i75 driving around 75 mph when all of a sudden the sunroof exploded. It sounded like a shotgun went off over my head and glass started pouring down on top of me. The sunroof malfunctioned without any warning whatsoever. This was a very jarring event to occur on the interstate of all places. Thankfully, I was able to maintain control of the vehicle and exit the interstate using the first available exit and called my insurance company to report the incident.
1-clips that secure the front grill and font quarter panels have broken for no apparent reason. 2-body parts can fall off during driving if not repaired 3-inspected at dealership 4-no warnings - the front camera looked "cloudy" because it had fallen when the grill clips broke and became loose the entire grill has to be replaced. All parts are on backorder with no date for restock. This is my daily driver with a mix of town and highway driving, so I typically drive 30-70 mph daily and only about 10 miles per day to and from work. There is very little wear on this car, it has less than 12,000 miles on it and has not been involved in any collision.
May 17,2023 6:30a. M. I drove to work, parked for 9hrs & at 4pm when I went to leave my sunroof was shattered. . There are no trees or anything that is over my car. . It looked as though someone had gotten inside my car & punched the sunroof as the glass was slightly pushed outwards. . My car was locked & no signs of entry. . . Upon my arrival to hudson Nissan I was informed by a Nissan service writer that this happens all the time & he told me to look it up on youtube or google. . After looking it up & seeing that exploding sunroofs happen daily, I did more research & saw there are current & past lawsuits pertaining to exploding sunroofs. . That is also where I saw that I needed to file my exploding sunroof on this site. My car was inspected by a certified Nissan technician that said my entire roof system needed to be replaced. My car was also inspected by a certified state farm adjuster that only wants to pay for the rear glass. Thankfully I was not driving at the time of the incident, however, after viewing several videos of consumers this has happened to, they all said it sounds like a gunshot. . I've been shot, still carry the bullet in my neck, I cannot even imagine how I'd react if I were on the interstate driving 65mph and hear what appears to be a gunshot inside my car. . . Or if my grandson was riding along. I cant say how I'd react,, but im guessing everyone around me would be at risk including myself. . I just can't phathom why this issue is still allowed to happen. The entire process has been a complete nightmare. I've been without a vehicle since may 17, 2023. State farm doesn't want to pay for what the manufacturer/dealership suggests & once I get it fixed I will be trading it. . . I do not ever want to go through this again!.
Dashboard is melting which is making it extremely sticky but the worst part is that it is causing a visibility issues while driving. The glare is really bad.

On February 10, 2023 I purchased a 2022 Nissan Maxima with a little over 19,000 miles on it. Which has a warranty for up to 104,000 miles. Currently at a little over 25,000 miles. Maybe a week later I noticed a noise coming from the rear, so I informed the finance manager, paul. He then goes on to tell me that he's going to schedule a service appointment. The day I went to barnes crossing of starkville they kept saying they didn't see anything or didn't know what was going on. So the finance manager scheduled an appointment with Nissan. When I get there is when I find out the rear end of the car has a lot of parts not connected. As the man at Nissan stated, it's a mess. Which he also took pictures of and sent them to me. Which I sent the pictures to the finance manager, paul. He asks how much is the broken parts, which I had no clue due to it would have to go to a body shop. He mentioned that he would look for another Maxima, that he could trade me out. My complaints about this car startedhe mentioned I would have to take it was going to take a body repair shop. I then inform barnes crossing of starkville. I was told by the finance manager the he would find a body repair shop but never did. Then because there's this strong odor in the car, I tried to get it clean cover it with air fresheners and still the smell is strong. So one day I go in the truck and pull everything out and to my surprise it's full of water. Which I have picture, not only is it full of water looks like mold spots, etc. I tried to clean it and some of the spots would not go. I informed him of this still he was saying they was going to find me another car, still no car. The trunk of the car is steady getting full of water. Nothing is being done, I reached back out and was told I'll have to do the whole process over again because a credit report is only good for 30 days. Which I've been complaining about this car a week after I received it. Mold and water keep appearing I’m sick.

Heavy rust/corrosion/hole in driver & passenger floorboard. Visible from underneath vehicle when the vehicle is up on the lift. I’m concerned my feet will go through the floor. Inspected by an authorized auto body shop and they confirmed this is very unsafe and a manufacture defect.

The front passenger side a-pillar molding flew off while driving in windy weather. This piece could have hit another vehicle and impeded their vision while driving. The molding was not otherwise compromised.
While driving on a windy day at approximately 55 mph, the hood popped up on the Maxima. The secondary latch prevented the hood from rising more than a couple of inches so no damage occurred, but had the hood come completely open it could have been a disaster. The car was pulled to the side of the road and the hood was closed tight. The hood was last opened when being serviced by my Nissan dealer. This is the first time this has happened and the car was driven home (approx 15 miles), under the same windy conditions, without incident. It has not been inspected by the dealer yet.

Dash becomes very sticky from sun and heat shining on it and produces a glare that causes blind spots and makes difficult to see out front window. Can't see what is out there depending on direction sun hits dash. If sun is coming from straight ahead makes a glare that is very difficult to see anything in front of you. Makes it difficult to see traffic lights or pedestrians which could cause dangerous harm to pedestrians, other drivers, or myself and passengers. Went to local Nissan dealer and was told the only fix would be to replace dashboard at my expense even though it is a common problem because there are no recalls on this issue. I purchased the vehicle used from another owner and was not aware of the problem and just thought it was something sticky that could be wiped off but found out it is a known problem when I went to dealer with issue.

I purchased new vehicle March 10th the tire pressure came on soon as I purchased I took the car back it to big o Dodge get checked out but they told me they did not know and to take it by the Nissan dealer. I went to the Nissan service and all four tire sensors were bad and needed to be fixed the dealer (big o Dodge)would not help. They told me that they did not believe me or the Nissan service department. I also noticed that the front grille area of my car had small damage that they would not acknowledge that as well.
Nissan has a large issue with the quarter panel moldings. They are a design flaw and come off very easily in car washes or even brushing snow off your car. They will become loose or completely off. If they become loose and you are on the highway like I was and it went flying off the car at highway speed. That clearly is a safety concern that Nissan has been avoiding. However, they are now re-drilling a hole and attaching a new version of the molding. At the owners cost!!! it wasn't an issue but now you are changing the way you attach the new ones? very odd and they state it's not a safety concern. I beg to differ if you are the car on the highway behind someone's that is loose and comes flying at you. I have read numerous blogs of owners complaining of the same issue. I think we need to get this addressed or see about a class action lawsuit because the way Nissan is reacting to this isn't right.
A vehicle pulled out into oncoming traffic and was struck my vehicle. My vehicle sustained front-end damage that totalled my car out. My airbags failed to deploy.
The passenger side pillar molding continues to fly off when I am driving my vehicle. This has happened three separate times. The molding hit my windshield twice while I was driving and almost caused me too wreck, as well as the other vehicles on the highway. This is unsafe and should be corrected. Not to mention that it cost me $150 each time it has to be replaced.
Windshield cracks randomly with no point of impact. Frays outward. Seems to be stress fracture from the frame. Happened multiple times with 2020 Nissans.
It's hot in florida and my dashboard is melting.
The left and right rear fender moulding is falling off of my vehicle. This is a trim piece that connects the rear fender and the roof. This piece is about 26" long. The plastic clips that hold it on are failing and the left piece has fallen off while driving, and the right piece is loose and failing. This is a hazard and many other owners have had the same experience.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that the cosmetic rear fender and windshield plastic molding loosened and expanded to the rear windshield. The rear driver's side door and passenger's side front door were also loosened. The contact became aware of the failure while driving. The contact heard an abnormal noise while driving and located the point of failure. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer for inspection. The contact was informed that the replacement part would not fit on the vehicle because the molding part was modified. The contact was informed that some drilling was necessary to install the molding on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and declined to provide assistance stating that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 41,000.
Purchased the vehicle and noticed a loud whistling sound coming from the sunroof outside of normal wind noises. This sound occurs daily. It appears that it is not sealed properly and will eventually lead to leaks. The dealership was able to hear the noise as well and even push my sunroof open further with their hands. Upon further research online, this seem to be a common problem with Nissan Maxima. There is an entire Maxima forum online discussing this issue with customers complaining of water damage due to it not being sealed properly. Car was infested with spiders right after purchase and it was determined that they were getting in from the sunroof.

While driving on route 24 in brockton, MA on 2/16/2020 at approximately 1am, the hood of my car flew off and completely separated from my car. I immediately pulled over to confirm whether another driver was not behind me and to look at my car. The latch of the hood was still in place as well as the springs. My dash board did not indicate my hood was open. This all occured while on the highway driving towards my exit at approximately 50-60 mph.
