12 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/15/2019

Traveling east on highway 287 through town my car lost all power so I coasted to the side of the road in the middle of heavy traffic. The car was still running but would not accelerate while in gear although it would in park or neutral. Eventually it would quit and only start with a jump then run for a little while. The next day I went to go pick up my car on the side of the road having somebody give me a jump and then it wouldn't start at all. So then I went and got a new battery and it ran for as long as it took to run that battery down. I replaced alternator a year ago when I was having the same problem. I'm stuck I don't know what to do. Does anybody have a solution?.

16 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2009 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/31/2019

I have a repeated electrical issue with my car. At first, I thought my issue was diagnosed improperly but I was recently on the NHTSA page and found over 20 complaints that expressed the same exact issue I have been having. That issue being the fact that my car, when in motion will completely shut off on me and go into neutral. This will happen without any warning and for me has happened both times on the highway while going 75 mph. Once the car stalls out, the power steering will also go out in about 30 seconds and the engine will completely shut off at that time. Therefore, you have about 30 seconds to roll your car to a safe spot in order to avoid a crash. There is no turning the car off and then back on, as when you try to do so all of the dash lights will come on and the engine will not start back up as the battery is dead or close to it. If you are lucky you can get jumped but the battery becomes so drained that it cannot even hold a charge for a miles worth of power. Both times I have had to have my Murano towed into a shop. The first time this issue occurred I was told I need my battery replaced as it was dead and that was the cause of my engine failure. This sounded strange to me at the time, as the battery that I had was a little less than a year old but I was just wanting to pickup a working car and put this behind me. My car worked properly for 48 days before I again, had the same exact issue occur to me, while again traveling on the highway going 75 mph. This time, there was not adequate space on the highway to pull over and I had to call 911 in order to avoid a crash. Again, I had my car towed and was now told it was an issue with the alternator, which I then had replaced. I am now worried this issue will reoccur as people are stating they have had their alternator replaced 2 and 3 times and are still being put in these scary, engine failure situations.

21 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2009 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/03/2019

While driving vehicle lost power, when trying to accelerate no power and noticed drop in rpm. Also battery and brake lights flickering. Was able to get car home however a week later with my children in the car it happened again only this time it completely died, after having it towed home, after jump start vehicle started right up without hesitation, and ran fine. System checks good and battery is new less than 60 days. Very dangerous as there is not warning to sudden loss of power and stalling. Vehicle lights radiio etc all still work but vehicle won't start. Nissan recalled earlier models alternator for same symptoms however not my vehicle year. Same set up location as the 03-07 models same problems just no recall on 09 models. Car has power lights radio etc just looses ability to accelerate and if engine stalls then requires boosting to be started again. Runs fine after no warning lights and then without warning happens again.

23 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/15/2019

Back in April my Murano would turn off whether I was accelerating or just sitting at a stop light, the brake light and battery light would come on and vehicle wouldnt start back up, ended up having it towed 3 different times to mechanic who couldnt figure out what was wrong because it wasnt showing any codes so from there had it towed to newton Nissan where it took them 10 days to diagnose it was the alternator (replaced battery first but that didnt work)ended up getting the Nissan alternator versus aftermarket for the warranty, get it back everything is fine, now in August alternator fails out again, back to newton Nissan we go, the replace "alternator" and when I get it back power steering isnt working so after the fixed that everything was fine until it started shutting off on me again like the very first time. Meanwhile ive had to pay over $1000 for the alternator work which was recalled however my VIN didnt fall under the recall. Engine compartment and hood of car are also so hot you cant touch them even after just driving 1 mile in 70 degreee weather however the temperature gauge isnt running high. Now the airbag light is flashing on and off upon starting. I tried cycling the engine nurmerous times but the light is still on. Nissan said they will have to replace whole unit for $5000 because they cant pin point airbag issue. Airbag issue isnt fixed and nobody can tell me if I have a working air bag or not. Im not sure if I need to contact an attorney because im now concerned about the safety of my 4 year old daughter while in the vehicle.

24 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2009 Nissan Murano

25 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 11/13/2018

While driving on the highway the 2005 Murano slowed down, I pressed more firmly on the gas and it did nothing. I pulled onto the shoulder of the highway and the car had shut off completely. I tried restarting the Murano several times with no luck. I had to call for a flat bed tow truck which took 5 plus hours of me sitting in the freezing cold with no power in my car in the dead of winter. Vehicle was towed home and I was told I needed a new battery. I went to pep boys and purchased a brand new battery and had pep boys install it for me. The next night as I was driving my fiance to his house the 2005 Murano again lost momentum and within seconds shut down. And again I could not turn the vehicle back on. I had to call for another flat bed tow truck and wait luckily only 3 hours this time for them to show up. I had the vehicle towed to my mechanic who replaced the alternator in the vehicle and another new battery. That was in November of 2018, it is now febuary 2019 and I have not had any electrical issues since. Why is this not covered under the recall that there was for the 2005 Nissan Murano? I do not understand why they refuse to cover the cost when they had to recall hundreds of thousands of this car for this issue and yet mine was not included?????.

26 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2009 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/07/2018

Vehicle shuts down completely with no warning as if it is being controlled by another power source. Had battery checked and alternator replaced twice. Also, had a diagnosis test performed multiple times. It yields no problems. The battery/brake light may come on prior to shut down. If it does, three seconds later vehicle is completely dead. Usually the vehicle is in motion - just driving on a roadway. Once shut down, you cannot move the vehicle and has to be towed.

I was driving my car in the middle of traffic when I pushed on the gas and the vehicle wasn't moving anymore. The battery and brake light both came on. After a couple of minutes I was able to move my car to the side of the road by pushing on the gas. But the car wasn't moving fast. After a couple of minutes evrething came back to normal. My vehicle is in the mechanic shop right now and my mechanic told me the alternator is going bad. I will be replacing the alternator.

34 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 11/30/2017

I went to drive my car in the morning and it didn't turn on it had been running fine the whole time ive had it. I purchased this vehicle in 2015 it had 103945 miles on it. It now has 118k on it and once the battery was charged we proceeded to replace it. The next day it started up got me to work , as soon as I was getting ready to leave work it was completely dead. It took over an hour to jump it and finally get it going. As soon as I got home and parked it, once again completely dead. I have been told it is the alternator by several people and have not had time to get it in to a shop as I work difficult shifts to correlate with what is available for most shops to provide. I do not want to have this issue fixed and then have it happen again the next day as I have read several complaints here stating they fix the alternator just to have it happen again. Has this year and model had any recall in regards to this issue as I have purchased a brand new battery to have it stone dead the next day.
