3 Engine problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/04/2009

My 2005 Nissan Murano has an engine that "pings" even when using 91 octane fuel. This can lead to engine wear and damage. Nissan is aware of the problem, but at this time, they are choosing not to correct it in any of the Murano vehicles that have this problem. The problem is a constant "ping" upon acceleration, most noticeable between 10 and 30 miles per hour, or at higher speeds when attempting to quickly increase speed.

4 Engine problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/10/2009

I own a 2004 Nissan Murano sl and have had troubles with vehicle hesitation for quite some time now. It seems to be most present when in stop and go traffic and the engine is warm. After approximately 10mins of stop and go, the gas pedal does not respond for a few seconds and the vehicle suddenly lunges forward aggressively presenting a very dangerous situation. The dealership does not know what is causing this but numerous reports on the internet point to a valve body malfunction.

5 Engine problem of the 2009 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/15/2008

I own a 2009 Nissan Murano s . It comes with push button "start/stop" engine (not to be confused with the "intelligent system". To start the engine, you must have your foot on the brake, put the key fob in the slot, and push the start/stop button. . . . . The danger is when you park the car in your garage. . . And forget to push the start/stop button to turn the engine off. . . Because this technology is new, the instinct is to pull the key fob out and get out of the car. . . The engine remains on and it is quiet enough that you do not notice the engine running. . . The danger is that carbon monoxide can fill up your garage and house and kill the inhabitants. . . I contacted Nissan via email. They had a tech. Review my complaint and responded as follows "don't forget to push the button to turn the engine off". . . Obviously they do not get the danger. . . I hope you do.

6 Engine problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/02/2006

Having issues with engine mounts. Had one replaced last November and getting two more next week. Purchased under extended warranty so everything is covered but concerned about when warranty expires. Want to know if others are having this problem.

7 Engine problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 09/24/2006

Twice in the last two weeks my 2004 Nissan Murano has had a complete computer failure, resulting in loss of both steering and brakes. The computer failure only occurs when turning the car on. Turning the car off and on again appears to "reset" the computer. I have taken the car to the Nissan dealership and have been told that because the problem did not occur in their presence, there was nothing they could do about it therefore there was no repair or replacement of any parts. Because there is no specific "event" which leads to this problem, I am left to drive a car with a serious malfunction which may in turn cause an accident resulting in bodily injury to myself or others.

8 Engine problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

While driving 35 mph on a down hill slope engine seized. As a result, power steering and brakes failed.
