Nissan Murano owners have reported 5 problems related to front seat heater/cooler (under the seats category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Murano based on all problems reported for the Murano.
As we were driving on a city street our 2016 Nissan Murano we could smell plastic melting or burning while having our driver seat heating system turned on. We turned off the heating system. Now, our driver seat heater does not turn on at all. We plan to take the vehicle to a Nissan dealership to get it diagnosed, but after doing some research online, we could read that many others dealt with this issue previously. The electrical harness under the drivers seat gets too hot and begins to melt. It seems that this is a safety issue due to a failure of the eletrical harness. I will have a specific diagnosis soon.

Driver seat heater over heated and shorted.
The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Murano. When starting the vehicle and activating the seat heater on the driver's seat, it failed to work correctly. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer (priority Nissan, 12925 jefferson Ave, newport news, va 23608) where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness was faulty. The manufacturer was contacted. The contact stated that the entire seat needed to be replaced, but Nissan refused to replace the seat. The vehicle was not repaired because parts were unavailable. The dealer provided the contact with a loaner vehicle in the interim. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 13,000.
Broken welds in the driver's seat base frame. First broke abound 4/9/2008. Aftermarket seat heaters had been installed by a vendor previously. Took vehicle to vendor, found broken welds in the driver seat base, causing the base to drop down and to the left. Vendor removed the driver seat, aligned, reinforced , mig welded the affected areas. Vendor reassembled and tested seat, appeared to be solid. 9/15/2010. Driving vehicle at moderate speed (35-40 mph) , loud "pop" , then left rear side of drivers seat dropped down. No loss of control , but now an obviously unsafe situation. 9/22/10. Took vehicle back to vendor (see above), vendor pulled off access panels and verified that welds performed in 2008 were solid and that the frame had broken in another spot. Declined to even attempt a repair at this point for safety concerns and advised contacting dealer for new part. 9/22//10 visited Nissan dealer, seat inspected by technician, stated that the rear lower drivers seat frame was broken and would need to be replaced. The service dept quoted a price of $750. 00 parts, $275. 00 labor, for a total of $125. 00 plus tax. This is a serious safety problem in my mind. The car has 44,000 miles, was purchased in, and spends much of it's time in florida. There is absolutely no rust or corrosion anywhere I know of. I believe this is a defect and should be covered by Nissan.
