1 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 11/27/2017

I've been having a problem with the power driver's seat in my '03 Nissan Murano. It is loose and shifts side to side when I turn corners. I contacted my dealer and they said that the lifter link slide assembly was broken and would need to be replaced at the tune of $600. There is a TSB (technical service bulletin) out on this exact problem. Since my vehicle is out of warranty, Nissan north America has refused to fix it and therefore, own up to this safety issue. I would hate to see what would happen during a crash. . If you have had this same thing happen with your Nissan power seat,.

2 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Drivers side power seat broken. This is the second Murano I have owned with the same problem. I have noticed online that this is a very common occurrence. Definite safety issue.

3 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2015 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

2015 Nissan Murano. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle hood and front seats issues. The consumer stated the first issue with the vehicle was a blinding glare that came from the rear of the 3. 5 inch hood when the sun was high. The second area of concern was the trim or more importantly the lack of it on the front driver and passenger seats. The side trim on both seats wrapped around the front of each seat and abruptly ended. The consumer stated when a passenger or driver exited the vehicle, the heel of their shoes would occasionally catch on the un-finished end of the trim. Also, the mechanical equipment that operated the power seats were fully exposed. The consumer stated the only response he ever received from the dealer, was no fault codes found. Updated 02/11/16.

5 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/26/2014

I could not move my power seat to drive and s terrified every time I drive. For no reason my seat stopped going forward and back and then it would swivel on the track. . The next day I brought the car to my mechanic and he verified I needed a new power seat. I called Nissan corp that night and voiced my concern and I was given a case number, but was told I had to go to a Nissan dealership. I made the for the next day. Took the car in to lokey Nissan on 7/01/04. They verified I needed a lower seat assembly and a finisher assembly (which holds the wires). The parts are $1300. And labor $395. 89. I then called April back (as she instructed) @ Nissan 1-800-647-7261 (4 or 5 times) and all I got was her recording. The case # 14862870 and April is @ 457248. I was able to find a used part and my mechanic could install it, but after reading on the internet how many moreno owner's this happen's to, I am appalled. There should definitely be a recall on these cars. Nissan knew about the problem on 04 - 06 moreno's faulty front power seat and or improper forward/backward movement. And special bulletins went out to all technical service personnel to amend and incorporate ntb-5-056 into their service manuals. My husband and I are both on disability and do not have $1600. To fix Nissan's mistake. I feel I am in danger every time I get behind the wheel and to make matters worse, Nissan won't return my phone calls, when they are the ones who told me to go to the dealership. . . Big waste of time and get a service record going. So in all: Nissan corp knows that the seat slide motor or gear assembly needs to replaced for any reason, that the power seat has voltage to it, but will not move forward or backward. The seat also moves while driving it because the seat won't stay on the track: it becomes crooked on the seat tracks.

6 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

While adjusting the drivers side power seat, something in the power seat mechanism appears to have broke and the seat in now uneven, and feels like it is coming off the rails especially when going into a curve, where you must hang onto the steering wheel for balance which causes undue anxiety for fear of losing control. The seat feels like it is off the rails, and when I use the power seat adjuster, it only lifts one side of the seat. This happened over 2 years ago at about 45,0000 miles. I now have 70,000 miles. I have learned if you keep the seat adjusted so that its closest to the floor, then there is less of a feeling that the seat is coming off, than if the seat is adjusted to a higher position. I have chosen not to get this repaired solely due to the $1,100 expense which it appears to cost to repair this safety issue. It's an annoying issue, it reminds me of the Ford I had as a teenager that I had to use rope to keep the driver door shut.

7 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/28/2012

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that the lift bar on the driver's front power seat fractured and the seat became wobbly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

8 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/23/2012

The driver's side power seat somehow broke under normal wear and tear. The seat leans to the left side and wobbles to the front and back. Therefore having to accelerate, decelerate, turn corners and go over rough road causes the seat to move all over the place. I believe this causes a safety issue while trying to drive. This is a Nissan design flaw that should be on a recall notice and corrected by Nissan free of charge to the consumer. There are numerous complaints regarding this seat and for many, the dealership wants to charge some outrageous price to get the problem corrected. Another issue is the driver's side visor which flops down unexpectedly while driving for no apparent reason. When returned to it's normal place, it will fall down. This causes another safety issue while trying to drive. The visibility is compromised and an accident could very well occur. Please address these design flaws for recalls.

9 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/06/2012

Driver's side power seat will not move forward or backward anymore. It is stuck at the far back position. Nissan says that the part replacement would cost around $1000 plus labor. This is not a part that is supposed to wear out and too expensive. It is a safety hazard not to be able to move the seat forward, but I can't afford to spend $1300 to fix this issue. From a forum online, it appears that many, many people have had this same problem with the Nissan Murano driver's seat and Nissan is refusing to accept this as a design flaw and fix them.

10 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/20/2011

Driver side power seat track assembly of my Nissan Murano 2004 stopped working while driving. The seat is now disabled and locked in place. There are tilting movements at times along with noise sounding as if it may potentially come loose and dislodge itself rendering dangerous driving condition. Dealership has stated over $1200 for the part and installation (out of warranty). The problem appears to be a common issue with all Murano year models.

11 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/10/2011

Driver power seat unable to move. Gets stuck at one location so can not move to adjust for proper driving location. Also possible airbag issue since can get seat stuck up against steering wheel. No way to adjust seat once motor stops working. Even paid to get repaired the other month and now it has stopped working again. Only thing good this time is that the seat is stuck further back and not up against the steering wheel. That is a dangerous problem. Check out Nissan forums to see how many are having problems with driver seat motors stopping.

12 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/25/2011

The power seat motor on my 2004 Nissan Murano se has failed. It will not move forward or backwards. In addition, the wheel hub bearing failed/broke and also had to be replaced at a very expensive cost. Prior to this, the differential also failed/leaked and had to be replaced/fixed. This vehicle has only 100,000 miles and has endured a ongoing series of repairs for numerous factory installed defects. The Nissan, Murano is not a safe, reliable vehicle to own.

13 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/08/2011

2007 Nissan Murano sl power seat drivers side seat bracket broke at weld causing the seat to rock back and forth dangerously. This is an item I have never heard of breaking. In my opinion, Nissan should recall the Muranos and fix them free of charge. I will be fixing the problem at carmax with my extended warranty, hopefully.

14 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/29/2011

Driver's power seat suddenly started rocking forward and backward as you were slowing or accelerating. Popping and squeaking noises accompanied the rocking motion. As the seat would rock you had to adjust pressure on the brake pedal or accelerator to compensate for the movement of the seat. It was unnerving to operate the vehicle with the seat moving. I had to hold onto the grab handle over the driver's door to help control the movement of the seat. In doing this I was unable to keep both hands on the steering wheel. If I tried to keep both hands on the steering wheel, when the seat would move I would tend to jerk the wheel from side ot side as I tried to stop the seat from moving. Appointment was made at local Nissan service department. I learned that Nissan is familiar with this safety issue and have issued a technical service bulletin. Parts were ordered and seat was repaired. I am concerned that if normal use will cause the inferior designed seat to break what would happen in a crash. It appears TSB is for model years 2003 thru 2007 . Possibly the seat design was improved for '08 and later models but Nissan is unwilling to issue a recall to cover this safety issue.

15 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/10/2011

When vehicle was purchased I noticed power seat was tilting sideways when adjusting. My toddler was able to push with both feet hard enough to make the seat lean sideways as well. God forbid I get into an accident!! took into Nissan dealership who in turn explained this was part of the trim package since it was a power seat, even though it is a metal part with no electronic function. Total cost to replace this little bracket, just a mere $1,600. I'm sure this malfunction has been the cause of major injuries and may have even costs lives. A recall would be nice Nissan! way to go show concern and back your product, I will never buy a Nissan again.

16 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/27/2011

I was driving my car home from work when I turned a corner and my seat came off the floor. I wasn't going fast so I was able to keep control. The car is in excellent condition and only as 20k miles on it. I did some research online and found this to be a common problem due to faulty design of the power seats. Depending on the situation, this could definitely lead to an accident and serious harm since the seat is not securely fastened to the chassis of the car. The fact that Nissan won't cover the cost to fix the issue ($1000 part plus $400 labor) because it is out of warranty is ridiculous. A car seat should not break at all let alone after 20k miles. This is a potential a serious issue that needs to be addressed.

17 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/02/2011

Drivers side power seat just went "pop" and totally is loose and leaning to one side while driving. Nissan has had several complaints about this. . Vehicle is just 1000 miles out of warranty and we also filed a case with Nissan and they refuse to pay the $508 charge to fix this.

18 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/23/2010

The driver side power seat on my 2007 Nissan Murano will only activate the left side. The right side is locked in one position. I took the vehicle to the dealer who quoted $1,100 to replace the entire seat assembly. The vehicle had less than 30,000 miles at the time of the seat motor failure but is out of the 3 year warranty period. I feel this is a safety issue as the seat cannot be adjusted to the driver’s specific needs.

19 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

The 8-way power seat first stopped moving the inner left side (closest to the seat back) of the driver's seat (effectively making the power seat non-functional); the seat later started moving, rocking, slightly forward, noticeably (and unfortunately) during braking.

20 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 09/30/2010

On the driver's power seat, the seat frame breaks and the seat itself becomes unstable, rocking back and forth several inches. The seat's instablilty is noticable on corners when in motion. This is apparently a fairly common occurance as both the dealership and various car repair shops are familiar. Nissan's answer to this safety issue is to charge owners aproximately $1,000 to install a replacement seat frame.

21 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/14/2010

Drivers side power seat on my 2007 Nissan Murano is broken. The left side of the seat moves fine but the right side is locked in one position. I had the problem diagnosed by an authorized Nissan dealer and was informed that a plastic gear on the side right side of the seat used to move the seat from back to front is damaged and needs replaced. This plastic gear is probably less than $5 to manufacture but I was told by the dealer that the whole track needs to be replaced at a cost of $750 (not including labor). There are numerous complaints on the internet regarding this issue.

22 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/09/2010

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano with just over 80,000 miles with power seats. The driver's side seat bracket is broken and I am told it will cost nearly $1000 to repair. 28 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/12/2010

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano awd. The power drivers seat track has broken for no apparent reason. The problem seems to be on the left side and when I turnto the left, the seat raises up and gives you the feeling that you might tip out of the seat. The seat is also loose when entering or existing the vehicle. When I took it to the dealer to be fixed, they informed me that it would cost over $800 to fix and that it was not covered under and extended warranty. Due to the extreme cost, I cannot afford to have this fixed.

29 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/01/2010

I've been having a problem with the power driver's seat in my 2005 Nissan Murano, the driver's side power seat just started to tilt to one side, and also forward. It is loose and will tilt forward/backward when I decelerate/accelerates. According to my mechanic, it's sort of structural failure with the anchor of the left rear side of the power driver seat.

32 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/06/2009

Nissan Murano 2005 : drivers power seat. The drive gear (made of plastic) is stripped by the worm gear (metal). I have spoken with my dealer and Nissan north America. They will not assist me with the $1000. 00 repair. If Nissan would supply just the drive gear this repair could be made easily. They do not have the part. You must buy the entire seat track.

33 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/20/2009

A bracket on the driver's side power seat has broken, and the seat tilts to one side and also forward. It is loose and will move forward several inches when I decelerate/accelerate or get in/out of the vehicle. The driver's seat is now very loose. The seat moves upon exit/entering the car and while driving. A small support bracket is broken and Nissan claims the whole seat assembly needs to be changed, cost $1000+. It seems to me that seat bracket should not break under normal conditions and I was very surprised when I looked around online and found many people with the same problem. Have the drivers seat move around while the car is moving seems to me like a serious safety problem.

34 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/12/2009

2005 Nissan Murano: I am having a problem with the driver's power seat. It adjusts itself randomly & makes clicking noises, while I am driving. It mainly slides back to the farthest position, so it is very hard to touch the brake & accelerator pedals. This has been intermittently occurring for approx 7 days. As of today, the back of the seat is now randomly moving forward while I am driving, so that it is in effect folding me in half! this seems like a very dangerous way to drive. . Previous to the seat randomly moving on a regular basis (since the past week), the seat felt like it was tilted slightly to one side. At first the problem was that the seat sometimes would slip out of position into another position. This went on for about 2 or so weeks before the clicking noises & random repositioning started happening. I would like the NHTSA to check into this seat failure as I feel that it is a dangerous problem. The seat moves back randomly when I'm driving & for a shorter person this could cause an accident as they may not even be able to touch the pedals in order to pull over. Does this warrant a safety recall??.

35 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/02/2009

On our 2004 Nissan Murano the power drivers seat will no longer adjust front to back. It will twist with the outside moving but inside not moving. This is a safety problem because the seat is stuck almost all way back and the only way that my wife can drive is to put a large pillow behind her. Checking on line there appears to be design and or manufacturing problems with the Murano drivers seats. I have contacted tony holland, service director at crown Nissan in greensboro, nc and he advised that per the Nissan area rep because of age and mileage Nissan will not make a good will repair. To get the required part you must buy the whole seat track for $796. 62 which is crazy. Total cost would be $1,118. 67 plus tax. On line there seams to be two issues one the seat frame breaking and the other a plastic part that drives the ball screw breaking. Nissan will not check the problem until you authorize the purchase of the seat track. This an accident waiting to happen. I urge you to issue a mandatory recall to make Nissan take responsibility to fix their error like a responsible company would do.
