Seats Problems of Nissan Murano - part 1

Driver seat front left side has a rocking motion to it. I’ve read a lot of others have found this issue was supposed to be fixed from 2003-2004 and the parts have been updated to address the issue. I am worried my seat movement will create an unsafe driving condition.

Power drivers side seat moving intermittently on its own. Pushing the seat and seatback foward. During this the seat cannot be moved back creating hazardous driving distractions.

Dashboard light started flashing indicating airbag error. Light indicating passenger airbag inoperative on center stack illuminated. Dealership indicated error code b1018 per esm diagnostic procedure and recommended replacing entire passenger side seat cushion and retesting. Uncertain if passenger side airbag sensor will prevent driver's airbag from deploying in accident.

The seat heating function on my vehicle failed due to electrical components becoming so hot that they melted the control module connector. The issue has been reviewed and confirmed by a Nissan dealership's service department. The service manager stated that he and his team would not plug the control module connector back in without my express direction because they considered it a fire hazard and a safety risk. There was no warning of this failure; the component simply stopped working but remained a fire risk. The only way I learned of the control module melting was after having the dealer's service department diagnose why the feature was no longer working. From the dealer's diagnosis (in writing): "driver's climate control seat control module connector melted. Recommend replacing driver's climate control seat control module and driver's front seat harness. Left driver's front climate control seat control module connector unplugged to prevent further issues with system. " it is unknown when the component melted. The problem was diagnosed by a Nissan dealership's service department on 29 November 2023.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -front driver seat and the rear subframe. Yes how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -seat moves around while driving. The subframe is bad, which if it broke could be dangerous. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -no, my husband is my mechanic has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -no. They seat was like that when we bought the car in 2021. The subframe was noticed last night.

I just got in my car and got on interstate no I turned on the heated seat cause I was alittle chilly and about 10 mins later I smelled something and smelled like burning plastic and yep sure was whole back of seat was in flames and I almost wrecked trying to get to side of the road and I started patting it and I finally found some water and dumped it on it and my hands had plastic melted all over it and now I have blisters and big whole in back of seat and honestly scared to death to even drive!.

2012 Nissan Murano. Airbag red light always blinking plus passenger seat airbag says it’s “off”. Loads of similar complaints on web sites. Took to annapolis nilsson on riva road today. They were very aware of issue but said there is no recall. So both airbags will not inflate, not just passenger seat. Web complaints confirm this with actual accidents and there is no recall? dealership said none of the parts including seat are available any more(I would guess because they all failed) but were told if we found the parts and seat at a used parts place then the dealership would put in for a cost but there would not be any warranty! really? there should be a recall on this issue, how can we get this?.

My drivers side seat started wobbling and it feels dangerous in case of any kind of crash. The other day I pulled into driveway and heard a pop and the side where the buttons are popped out and I cannot find one of them. The part where the buttons for seat adjustment just fell out and I pushed back but still afraid in case of collision. I have read on plenty of forums where the seat frame breaks. I am older and I cant afford to fix it but I am afraid to drive it.

Srs/airbags light flashing passenger airbag off. The airbag will not deploy if in a crash. Nissan code b1018 is diagnosed as needing the whole passenger seat replace due to the occupancy sensor in passenger seat. Nissan quoted repair at $5000. 00 to replace. Called Nissan and started case 45708222 on 2/4/22. Was told no safety recall on the 2012 Murano and Murano is too far out for Nissan to assist. In researching Nissan has had this safety issue since 2008 and there have been recalls on certain models but not 2012. I feel Nissan such stand behind this type of safety issue of this magnitude. The vehicle was purchased new and probably 75% of the 61,500 miles there was no passenger in the seat. What factor has to come into play for a safety recall to be issued? is it number of fatalities that occur for the occupancy sensor not deploying the airbags? I also tried to find out if Nissan has stopped using this type seat/sensors in the new models. Customer rep told me I needed to ask the dealer. The dealer had told me to ask Nissan so I'm at a loss on whether Nissan has changed to avoid this safety issue. I've always been pleased with Nissan and was considering trading this Murano for a 2022 platinum but since this has occurred my opinion is changing on the Nissan. Nissan has had a safety issue with these sensors since 2008 and forward. Nissan should have recalled any make/model that is/was equipped with the faulty occupancy passenger airbag sensors that could/can fail and cause bodily harm or death. Or even at least compensate on some of the expense. This is just wrong.

I recently brought my 2016 Nissan Murano to the Nissan service department and asked them to check the driver's side heated seat as it was not working. I was notified by the Nissan service department that the heated seat module had melted and that they needed to disconnect the component because it was a safety concern. It was very concerning to learn that the heated seat component could have possibly caused personal harm to anyone driving my vehicle. I reached out to Nissan in an effort to have them fix the defect and they refused to fix the vehicle free of charge. I have also researched this defect online and there seems to be a pattern of this defect happening in other vehicles of this model and year. I believe that this is a serious safety issue and that Nissan should be investigating the heated seat components on these vehicles and fix the component, so they are safe and in working order.

The driver seat heater is not working.

Normal driving and the seat broke and has been for several years causing instability and oscillation. Recently my steering wheel will not align, brought it to a mechanic that informed me the rear sub-frame is cracked on both sides causing the tires to malign, creating un-even wear on the back tires and a hazard to drive.

I bought the car not knowing that the seat bracket driver side was already broken the dealership would not do anything I looked into this and there are several thousands of other complaints on the same safety issue I'm only a hundred and fifteen pounds and I'm bouncing all over the place and I'm terrified I don't have the extra 2,000 $3,000 is going to cost to replace and this is a major thing it has happened several times this needs to be recalled now.

The drivers seat frame is broken at the right rear lift arm. The seat frame is electrically adjustable. The seat wobbles causing the driver to move around at random. Loss of control of vehicle is possible as seat moves left and right as vehicle is being driven. As this just occurred within the past 24 hours it has not been inspected by anyone other than myself.

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that the front driver's side seat bracket fractured, allowing the seat to rock back and forth. The rear subframe of the vehicle had poor water drainage and excessive rust. The contact notified his state attorney general and was informed to contact NHTSA to file a complaint. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

2015-2019 Nissan Muranos have an on-going electrical hazard with the climate controlled seats. The electrical harness connector directly under the seat will fail and actually get so hot it will melt the plastic pieces! in fact, Nissan has issued it's own 15 page service bulletin warning to its dealers on the fire danger (el18-035, reference ntb19-004, dated 17 January 2019). This bulletin graphically shows pictures of how the harness connector and the seat control unit will get so hot they will melt and fail. It also details how local dealers should replace the defective connector and even how they should charge Nissan back for the repair (page 15 - primary part line claim). My 2016 Nissan Murano suffered the same drivers seat electrical failure recently. I visually verified the damaged (melted) connector under the seat and contacted my local Nissan dealer (youngblood Nissan, springfield mo. ). I provided them the Nissan alert information. The dealer is refusing to fix the known failure unless they are paid for the service work (estimated is over $300. 00)! given that this fire hazard covers four years worth of Nissan Murano production and the 2016-2019 titans, Nissan should fix the defective parts for free. While in my case there was no actual fire or damage beyond the melted electrical parts and loss of the seat climate control feature. . I have left the defective plug disconnected, still leaves me very concerned about they safety of myself and my family. I have attached images of both the internal Nissan service bulletin and an image of my melted and defective electrical plug. Thank you.

My supplemental airbag light came on 2/20/21 and continued to flash. I took the vehicle to the dealership on 2/27/21 and they said the OCS sensor mat was bad and it would cost $4858. 13 to replace the front passenger seat bottom. He said everything is contained in the seat bottom so the whole thing has to be replaced. He said this sometimes happens because women put there purses in the seat. Really? sounds like it's a faulty system if that's the case. I did some research and the 2015-20?? models have all had recalls because of this issue. I'm sure my system is faulty as well and should be replaced by Nissan.

On 02/09/2021 approximately 8pm, arrived to my destination, turned car off, went inside. Approximately 1. 5 hours later (9:30pm) went back to my car to bring my suitcase and pillow in. When I removed my pillow from the back passenger side seat, noticed the big scorched area and the seams were bright red, the seat was burning hot to touch. Burning smell was noted, and the seat switch was still on though the car was off over a hour. The other seats were normal ( cool ) to touch. I immediately disconnected the battery cables and stayed by the car making sure the seat area cooled to normal. Note. . . . . My pillow was scorched too. The car is a 2017 Nissan Murano, bought it new.

Driver seat has come loose and no longer anchored to the frame.

Just purchased vehicle in November took it to mechanics because I kept getting shocked by the seat they stated the engine had been on fire with previous owner and I should check for and recall since the dealership is not willing to assist now that vehicle is completely non functional.

The left, driver's side front seat of my 2006 Nissan Murano broke while my son was driving. The support bracket cracked completely, leaving the seat tilted downward several inches on the left side. The car is dangerous to drive in this condition because the seat is bouncing at an odd angle. I have seen many complaints online of the same problem with the Nissan Murano. It is hard to believe that an NHTSA recall has not been issued.

Driver seat wobbles around, seems to be broken. Happened with regular use. Safety issue that appears to happen with many other 05 Muranos and possibly other year models. Ongoing.

Got into the vehical. While adjusting the seat and leaning back, the seat slumped back and to the left. It wobbles now. I feel it is unsafe to drive because the seat is not solid and shifts around as I drive. My wife is disabled and I am a disabled marine combat veteran. We cannot afford a new vehicle or to replace with a new seat. Manufacturer should replace this.

The left side of the drivers� side seat started moving up and down - the bracket that attached it to the floor of the car snapped so the left side bounces up and down. This is primarily my sons car and it seems like a safety issue for me - moving while driving, and less stable in an accident. It looks from Nissan forums that this is a very common problem with Nissan Murano yet it is not a recall.

The climate control drivers seat does not operate. Nissan is aware of the situation and have issued a technical bulletin 1/17/19 classification #el18-035 reference # ntb19-004. There are at least 1000 cases sited on the internet. I would like to know if there will be a recall issued as this is a safety fire hazard.

2010 Nissan Murano, (purch 11/30/2009) I have a passenger air bag safety concern! (case # 37896824) the red air bag warning light is flashing! (while driving at all speeds and while idling) & the front passenger seat air bag warning light (yellow), remains on - indicates front passenger air bag is off! took Murano to Nissan service center, tech did diagnostic test - got a code b1018 OCS is malfunctioning. Tech cleared code, to turn off the red flashing airbag light & said if red light starts flashing again, come back to service dept. 1st step to fix would be replace front pssngr seat acu assembly. (verbally was told they may have to replace the front passenger seat cushion). Red light flashing again the next day, drove it for 2 weeks to see if that would recalibrate red flashing light, was still flashing after 2 wks, returned to Nissan service dept on 10/29/19. Said need to replace the front passenger cushion, (the OCS for air bag is in cushion) & possibly an acu! I see, Murano has had several passenger air bag recalls: the 2009 Murano: recall # 08v521000 - safety issue - the OCS control unit located in font passenger seat cushion, could cause interruption of signal between OCS & acu - suppressed air bag could fail to provide adequate protection in a crash. Recall # 08v066000 - safety issue - due to incorrect software programming- the acu may cause passenger air bag to not operate as designed if battery becomes significantly discharged - resulting in passenger air bag not to operate as designed. 2013 - 2015 Murano recall - safety issue - front pssngr OCS component may incorrectly classify adult as a child or that seat is empty despite occupied - front pssngr air bag may be turned off & not deploy in a crash! * I see a lot of similarities in the past recall descriptions with what is occurring to my 2010 Nissan Murano passenger seat. Air bag warning light started flashing and does not go off. Dealer (lancaster Nissan) tested the vehicle and stated that sensor or seat sensor could be bad. They were able to turn off warning light, but it started again the next time I drove the car. Estimates to replace sensor ($1,500) and seat sensor ($4,500) seem extremely high. Vehicle has only 39,000 miles and was purchased new. Dealer stated there is no open recall despite research showing 100's of 2009 Muranos with the same issue and a prior recall on earlier Muranos and Infiniti's - clearly the same manufacturing defect. Have not taken an action to repair at this point,.

Airbag warning light suddenly stayed on flashing. There has never been any accident. Low miles and rarely a passenger in the car. Nissan dealer checked and determined it was the passenger sensor. They replaced the sensor and light remained. They then said they had to replace the entire passenger seat bottom to fix the issue. ~$3,700 later and it is fixed.

Driver seat becomes loose, based on the bolt mounts breaking from their welds. Unsafe to drive based on the seat moving back and forward when applying the brakes or pressing the gas pedal.

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that the driver's seat fractured due to a failure with the anchor/bracket on the rear left side of the driver's seat. Universal Nissan (12785 s orange blossom trail, orlando, FL 32837, (407) 926-7000) was notified of the failure and an appointment was made for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA action number: pe08065 (seats); however, the vehicle exhibited the same failure as the investigation from NHTSA. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 143,000.

1. Drivers seat rocks as if it is broken. Could cause problem with airbag deploying in a crash. 2. Rear shocks/struts seam to be weak or collapsed. Makes vehicle sit lower in rear, this causes the sun to reflect in drivers eyes blinding the driver. Our vehicle is silver in color. I.

Driver side seat goes sideways/I have I have replaced the output shaft seal 4 times in 3 months [keeps leaking].
