Failure of the power seat drive. Driver's seat seemed to be lopsided, high on the left side of it. Now I have to drive with seat severely askew to the right and seat could not be properly adjusted. 42 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/08/2009

A 2005 Nissan Murano and the support linkage for the power seat has broke . It lists to the left. As far as I can tell, it is a break in the connection of the back support. Power features work fine. Sounds like Nissan has a design problem.

43 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Drivers side power seat broken.

44 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/20/2008

2006 Nissan Murano. Front driver's 8-way power seat. My wife told me that one side of the seat, the right (transmission selector) side, was jammed and would not move forward and back causing the seat to "pivot" in position. I could not see an foreign object stuck under the seat that would cause this so I took it to the local Chrysler dealer. They told me that the gears that mesh together to direct the movement of the seat were stripped and that the entire 8-way rack mechanism had to be replaced, to the tune of over $900. 00!!. The service tech said that this was a common problem on the Murano and is usually caused when the driver leans back hard against the back of the seat and lifts up his or her fanny, as when entering the vehicle and adjusting pant legs or a dress before starting to drive (something everyone does all the time). After reluctantly paying to have this work done I took the old seat rack home and took it apart. Sure enough, two gears on the right-hand side of the rack were stripped of several worm-teeth, however, the gears themselves are less than 1/2" in diameter and made of cheap nylon! you would think that these would be made of metal. Also, the gears themselves could be removed quite easily from the assembly. I don't understand at all why the entire seat assembly had to be replaced except as a profit maker for the dealer. After seeing all of the exact same complaints on this particular vehicle on various car complaint web-sites it is obvious that Nissan should be required to recall these vehicles and replace these defective gears.

45 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/15/2008

The metal frame on the power drivers seat has broken, causing a rocking-chair affect. While this is only moderately dangerous as it is now, the other pair of welds (assuming they are welds) on the seat frame can snap causing the seat to break free from the frame. A quick search on the internet finds that there are numerous Nissan Murano owners w/ the same issue. . And Nissan dealerships are not repairing under warranty, but making "good will adjustments" if the individual dealership is so inclined. In my opinion this is a significant safety risk and needs to be looked into. Thanks.

46 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 11/18/2008

The power driver seat has a "weak link". It's not a "track" it's a bracket that was not designed strong enough and eventually shears off at two points driver seat is loose or broken bracket part number 87450-ca684 was the "offending" part per my invoice.

47 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

The frame to the driver's side power seat broke while I was driving. I nearly ran off the road, narrowly missing another vehicle on the freeway.

48 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/19/2008

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano w/ power driver seat. I have found that the seat attach point on the left rear is broken due to a bad design. The seat is attached to the seat rail with approx. A 1 inch x 1/2 inch x. 060 thick sheet metal part. There is a 90 degree bend at this point, and this is where it has broken. I have taken picture of the area in question, and can send if needed. With the seat not properly attached to the seat rail and the car, it now is a safety issue. If this part breaks with normal use, I wonder what would happen in a moderate crash. How much more bodily injury is their when the seat is no longer attached to the car during the course of a accident viewing auto web sites, I see this is a common problem. I believe that Nissan should issue a recall for this defect. . I hope you can help cameron j. Brewer.

49 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

My driver's side seat no longer operates with the powered seat adjustments, and is stuck in one position. At first, it would veer to the right, but now is stuck in one position that is not the best position for me, causing me concern for my safety on the road. When I had it looked at the Nissan dealership, they informed me that the cost would be @ $1000. As I researched on-line, I see several complaints about the very same thing. This needs to be recalled and fixed to avoid accidents.

50 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/28/2008

On my 2005 Nissan Murano the support linkage for the power seat has broke . Seats do not break in accidents and this seat broke during normal use. Seats in cars never become disconnected form the vehicle.

51 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/11/2008

I purchased a used 2006 Nissan Murano in March of this year. Yesterday I was getting into my car to go home from work and was placing my laptop computer bag in the backseat and rested my hand on the driver's seat. The seat was noticeably unstable and unsecured. I investigated under the seat to determine whether or not it had become detached from the track, it had not, the power seat still moves back and forth. I drove it home with my seat unlevel and my husband took a look and discovered the thin metal support rod had broke at the connection point. This has never happened to me on a car ever. I am very disappointed that a more expensive car would miss a step so critical to comfort.

52 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/29/2008

I have a 2004 Nissan Murano which my wife and I love, but we have recently developed a problem that we haven't experienced before. The left side of the power drivers seat broke and the ride is very dangerous and unstable. I can only imagine what I will face if I ever have to suddenly stop my car. I'm currently searching for someone local that can weld the seat back to its base, but cost is a factor and so is time. It seems that this is a manufacture defect, and perhaps there should be some sort of recall to correct this issue before someone gets hurt and has to sue Nissan.

53 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/05/2008

2006 Nissan Murano driver's power seat frame broken. Seat tilts to the left and not securely fastened to floor. Safety concern as frame snapped and broke while I was driving. Safety concern if I were to be in an accident . There is a technical service bulletin but I can't figure out the part needed to fix seat. Called local dealer and they are unaware of any issues. I have researched thousands of complaints for the models in 2003---2007. I think there needs to be a recall due to safety issues. * js.

54 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/06/2008

A bracket on the driver's side power seat has broken, and the seat tilts to one side and also forward. It is loose and will move forward several inches when I decelerate/accelerate or get in/out of the vehicle. This problem has occurred under normal use. The vehicle has not been in an accident nor anything other than ordinary driving on streets. The broken bracket appears to be very small for a weight-bearing piece. This piece would certainly not survive a crash. If still intact, the piece would certainly break during a crash. This could cause the driver's seat to move dangerously close to the steering wheel, allowing the driver to possibly impact the steering wheel or windshield. I have not repaired this yet, as I need to decide what route to take. Apparently the dealership charges about $1,000 to repair/replace the offending part, but they will replace it with the same fragile part. It appears that contacting a professional welder may be a better choice, as they can weld the pieces together and strengthen the pieces too.

55 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/26/2008

The track assembly in the driver's side power seat failed. When engaged the motor assembly would not move forward or backward but instead would cause the entire seat to swivel to the right. Prior the failure there was a grinding noise. Any attempt to shift the position of the seat while driving could have caused a serious problem.

56 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/19/2008

Back in February, 2008, the driver's seat on my 2005 Murano malfunctioned--specifically, the seat was not loose, but all of a sudden would not slide forward on the right side thereby creating a grinding noise and a slight and unnatural swivel of the seat to the left. I took it to the dealership for repair. Part number 87450-ca684 was the "offending" part per my invoice. All other power seat features were operating fine. I asked the service manager what would cause this and he said he didn't know, but they had seen 5 such incidents in the past 2 months. This got me wondering if this was a widespread issue. So, I found a Nissan online club of owners reporting seat failures. I have been tracking this for months and now have gotten to the point where I believe this is a serious issue that deserves reporting and NHTSA attention. Fortunately, my repair was covered under my extended warranty sans a $50 deductible. But, consistent with all these postings, the service manager indicated this is typically a $700 repair. . 57 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/15/2008

The power seat for the driver has a stripped screw causing the whole seat to move left when trying to move forward. Dealer said whole new seat assembly is needed.

58 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/10/2008

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano sl awd and earlier this year the drivers seat has started to rock back and forth. My wife is 5'2 and I am 6'2 so there is a need to move the power seat regularly. The seat now sits slightly left to right or right to left. The Nissan Murano forum has indicated that this has been a problem from the 2003 edition and still continues to be. My car is out of warranty so it would be a $1000 repair out of pocket. This is an unsafe situation and apparently caused by the seat base metal breaking. There are great pictures of this on the forum site. Nissan hasn't recalled this and it is obviously a safety concern.

59 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

My power seat on my 2005 Nissan Murano came loose and lifts up when turning a corner. The dealer where I bought the new car said the entire power seat bracket is broken and is unsafe. The cost to repair it is $1,000. 00. My car is just out of warranty, but I feel they should cover this safety issue. They refused. I feel this repair should be covered because it is obviously a manufacturing defect.

60 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/01/2007

I have a 2004 Nissan Murano. The power drivers seat will only move on the left side and the right side is stuck. Upon taking it to the dealer, I was informed the gear on the right side was stripped, and it would be $1,000 + to fix this. I had the vehicle in multiple times under warranty for the seat slipping when I took-off from a stop sign, and was told it was operating as designed. I am concerned that in an accident this seat is not going to remain in place and it will result in major injuries.

61 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/01/2007

2003 Nissan Murano. Consumer states engine abruptly shut off and the vehicle lost all power. The consumer was able to gradually steer the vehicle to the emergency lane. After numerous attempts, he was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and a diagnostic test revealed fuel pump failure. The consumer stated this was not the first time the engine abruptly shut off. The first incident happened in July 2007. But, the vehicle was restarted and was taken to the dealer, but they were unable to find a problem. Prior to the first two incidents, the engine stalled on may 10, 2010. After numerous attempts, the consumer was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they determined the crank sensor was faulty. The consumer stated there have been other repairs such alternator failure, the passenger door locks routinely malfunctioned during extreme heat, the driver's power seat malfunctioned, the motor mounts were cracked, the axles were loose, and the intake hose failed.

62 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/10/2007

Power driver seat bracket broke in left rear of seat. Nothing other than every day use of getting in and out of car. Seat had been adjusted very little. The dealer said there was nothing they could do to fix it. This is very unsafe, I have bricks underneath to support the seat so I can drive. The car was barely 4 years old and had only 70,000 on it at the time.

63 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 11/06/2006

While driving on the highway, the seat in my Murano broke loose as I was headed into a curve. The seat actually threw me into the driver side door and caused me to jerk the wheel and run off of the road. Upon thorough examination by my self and an authorized Nissan dealership, a bracket that holds the seat secure to the track system had broken. The mechanic advised me that it was a defect and that he had not seen anything like it before. This particular support bracket is a critical piece of the seat assembly and without this piece the vehicle is difficult to safely drive and could cause an accident. Also, the piece is most likely to break under tension such as entering a curve as was the situation in my case, or swerving to avoid an accident. In either event, the unexpected malfunction could cause the driver to loose control of the vehicle. More troubling is the possibility that the piece would break in a collision, thereby throwing the driver into the driver door and the driver's head into the glass. I have contacted both Nissan and the dealership from which I purchased the vehicle about the part on numerous occasions. Their stance is that though the part is defective, the vehicle is out of warranty and that they will neither repair my vehicle nor address the issue with a recall to avoid any future accidents or injuries. I even offered to send Nissan pictures of the broken part and they were not interested. The representative did not even bother to log in the correct part when I spoke with him. He logged it as a broken seat track. When I advised him that it was not the seat track but the actual seat, he dismissed it by saying that was the category that Nissan had established for seat malfunctions.

64 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 09/01/2005

Driver's seat slides around. Was a problem when I bought the vehicle in '05. Took it back to the dealer and they said it was my problem to fix. It is a 2003. Slides and is uneven. Someone needs to protect the consumer from crap like this.

65 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/16/2005

The power driver's seat shifts slightly and makes a clicking noise. My Nissan dealer identified the problem, however refused to fix it under my extended warranty. The cost of the fix was over $500.

66 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/26/2004

Driver seat track has been replaced 2xs and still has rocking motion problem, very annoying Nissan might as well put thumb tacs on the steering wheels of their cars if they find this problem acceptable.

67 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/20/2004

The drivers seat in my 2003 Murano had an excessive rocking problem since purchased new and proceeded to get worse and worse until I could not take it anymore. Well Nissan replaced the whole track assembly on July 20, 2004. To my surprise the new one, only being 3 weeks old is already as bad as the original one but now it makes an excessive creeking noise. Maybe the 3rd one will be the charm ?????.

68 Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano
