36 Visibility problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/10/2011

The driver's side sun visor falls down and blocks the view of the driver. I used to keep my seat up high because I'm short, and it helped me have a better view of the road. I've lowered my seat because when the visor falls it completely blocks my view. The visor has started falling at least once every time I drive it. It even happens on the freeway, where the road is smooth.

38 Visibility problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/20/2011

For no visible reason, the driver's side visor dropped down and could not be put back into place. It refuses to stay up. In the down position the view is cut in half and renders the vehicle unsafe for sustained driving. I believe this is a total manufacturer defect.

39 Visibility problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/18/2011

Hello - I have been reading multiple threads on the Nissan forum, on facebook and elsewhere regarding Nissan Murano sun visors from 2006 and other years that "fail" and flop down. . . . On the passenger side this is not as much of a safety issue, however, on the driver"s side it is. . . An unexpected blocked sight vision coupled with traffic will (if it has not already) result in an accident, injury or death to someone. . . . The two visors are not interchangeable. Nissan will fix it (if under warranty) but they are counting on the failure happening after warranty and then charging a hefty price for a driver's side replacement, and/or human ingenuity to allow owners to try fix the problem them selves. . . . Velcro does not work, switching visors leads to the "vanity mirror" door flopping down as well. . . . . We have such an issue with our 2006 Nissan Murano. . . It should be required for Nissan to recall and repair these on 2006 and other tears which use part # 96401 for a driver's side sun visor before they are faced with a lawsuit. . . A copy of this complaint is going to my personal attorney. . . . Thank you. . . .

42 Visibility problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

This complaint is about the driver's side sun visor of 2006 Nissan Muranos. I have found forums with many people experiencing the problem that I am of 2006 and other model years where it fails to stay up. The tension or spring in the sun visor is gone just like that and it falls and blocks vision while driving. It falls just driving regularly, and although drivers need vision always and constantly while operating the vehicle, it also falls at times that are most dangerous when vision is of utmost importance, I. E. Any driving on rough surfaces, any maneuvering to avoid accidents, uneven roadways, unexpected braking or even just turning. I don't believe the consumers of these vehicles should be responsible for the very expensive replacement that Nissan quotes when reporting the problem. There is nothing in the warranty about sun visors or problems impacting visibility. The seat belt is a safety item and is covered for a long period of time, 120 months (10 years)! the sun visor blocking visibility while driving should be along the same lines as that regarding warranty, and there's nothing that says it is or isn't. I am dealing with Nissan's consumer affairs department now but do not have hopes of getting this resolved with them. I have had to replace a very expensive ballast for the driver side hid bulb (cost only mitigated by buying used), the fuel sensor, have a rattling window from the beginning that the dealer fixed but the fix didn't last, and have had other issues with the Nissan dealership I bought and serviced the car from. It's one thing after the other and I have not filed a complaint about the other items, but this is a severe safety issue and it's time to put my foot down. It is not an old car, there is no reason I, or any of the other Murano owners should be personally liable for this serious visibility while driving issue.

43 Visibility problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/28/2011

Driver's side sunvisor drops when car hits a bump, going over rough roads and at random times. It drops in the vision of the driver causing potential safety issues. This issue must be solved for safety reasons. With multiple complaints Nissan should consider a recall.

44 Visibility problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/15/2011

The drivers side sun visor broke and will not stay in the up position. It falls down unexpectingly and causes the view of the driver to be blocked. This has happened on two occassions that almost caused a wreck. Nissan claims this is not covered under the warranty. There have been numerous complaints on the Nissan webiste because they will not recall this item. To replace the sun visor is $350-500.

45 Visibility problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/15/2011

The driver side sun visor does not stay in place. It is either up or down and will flip down on its own during driving creating dangerous driving conditions. Nissan wants approximate $300 for a new part that they should replace.

47 Visibility problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/06/2011

2004 Nissan Murano driver's side sun visor repeatedly falls down and will not stay up causing a serious safety issue. The consequences could be fatal if not fixed. I have had 2 incidents where I was close to being hit by another car due to the visor falling. The visor fell as I was approaching an intersection in which it caused me to go through a red light. I have contacted Nissan consumer affairs and they told me I had to take it to a dealership for them to verify that it was an issue. I then contacted Nissan consumer affairs back to let them know it was verified that it was a problem and that a regional specialist would contact me. I talk to the regional specialist and she needed the documentation from the dealership. She now has it and I'm waiting for a response now. This all started just a couple of weeks ago with Nissan. If the safety issue is not resolved by their expense then I'm talking to a good friend that is an investigative reporter for a local news company.

50 Visibility problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/15/2011

51 Visibility problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/06/2011

The driver side visor fell down one day and will no longer stay in up position. It must be left down flush against the window which obstructs the drivers view of the roadway. The visor repair is covered by my warranty but my deductible is $200 and to fix the visor without the warranty is over $300. From what I have read, this is an ongoing issue and a serious safety issue for drivers. People who have gotten them replaced continue to have this issue and the visor should be recalled and replaced with one that works in every other car. There are a lot of complaints here and it doesn't appear that anyone is doing anything about it.

52 Visibility problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/04/2011

Driver's side sun visor suddenly flopped down and blocked my wife's view of the road. It will not stay up. After listening to her complaints for weeks, I finally took it the dealership to get a new one. They want $182. 59 plus tax just for the part! that doesn't even include labor to install. The dealership told me I was lucky because it used to cost $425. That is ludicrous! I have found dozens of similar complaints on this very website. It is a serious safety issue and it is obviously a systemic problem. I didn't realize how much it affected your driving until I drove it today. We are in the market for a new car and I can guarantee it will not be a Nissan or Infiniti. $200 for a $20 sun visor is insane!.

55 Visibility problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/11/2011

The sun visor on the drivers side does not lock in the up position. This causes it to fall donw into the field of view and is a definate safety issue especially when driving on rough roads as it can block you vision without any warning. Manufacturer and dealers will not cover this repair once out of warrenty and it costs upwards of $400 to do the repair. I have investigated this and have even heard from dealers that this is a common occurance with these vehicles all the way back to 2003. This should definately be a saftey recall as it could cause an unexpected accident.

58 Visibility problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

My driver side sunvisor flops down and will not stay positioned correctly to shield the sun. I either have to drive w/o the visor and be blinded by the sun or I have my view obstructed from the floppy sunvisor being right in my line of vision. The failure occurs anytime I try and use the visor. This started when my mileage was 41,000 and I drive a 2006 Murano. This is a big safety concern. My nisaan dealer quoted me at $433. 18 to repair the visor. I have done research and this appears to be an ongoing issue with Nissan Muranos.

59 Visibility problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

Sun visors in 2006 Nissan Murano fail repeatedly aned will flop down blocking the driver's view causing unsafe condition. This problem appears to be ongoing since at least 2005 models not liited to Murano only. The internet is filled with posts of people having this problem and dealerships are replacing with the same part that does not fix the problem permanently as these new visors fail as well. It started when only hitting a bump. Now it occurs during normal driving inclduing at freeway speeds.

60 Visibility problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/02/2011

Driver side sun visor will not stay secured in the 'up' position. Falls into driver's vision at unexpected times and especially if driving over rough surface or hitting bump or dip in road surface. Driver side sun visor falls down in front of drivers face while driving causing blocking of view. Visor will not stay in up position and constantly falls down. Nissan knows of the issue and is overcharging customer for the exact same product which has the same issue.

62 Visibility problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

Both visors on the passenger side and driver side drop; mostly occurs on the drivers side, if the road is a little bumpy it falls down a lot! it is extremely dangerous as it occurs so often and I live in a bigger city and deal with the problem of traffic on a regular basis, it causes my line of sight to be extremely obstructed as I am a taller person and already have my seat down as low as possible and cannot see anything when the visor drops.

63 Visibility problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/10/2011

The passenger side sun visor falls down and obstructs the driver's view. Nissan is refusing to address this issue.

64 Visibility problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/08/2011

Normal bumps in road cause driver's side sun visor to drop and obstruct the driver's vision. Part appears to be un-available and/or way over priced for something that should not fail within the first seveal years of operation. Typical sun visors are priced from $50 to $200. Nissan want over $350. 00 for one.

65 Visibility problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

66 Visibility problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

The driver side sun visor arbitrarily drops into view from the stored position causing a distraction and momentarily blocking the driver's vision. This is a dangerous situation given the distraction, blocked vision, and daily occurrences.

67 Visibility problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/20/2010

While driving at highway speeds the sun visor on both drivers and passager side swing down and block the vision of the driver. The cost to replace the visors is $800. 00, at this cost it makes you thing Nissan is aware of this problem and chooses to make a profit on these instead on considering the safety aspect of their customers. I feel there should be a safety recall after reading the number of complaints on this.

68 Visibility problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/16/2010

I have had my 2003 Nissan Murano for over 4 years ever since I owned it I have had a problem with the drivers side visor. The visor cannot stay up and it always falls to the point to where it is in my line of sight. I have used velcro in the past but I have become more and more frustrated because now the velcro is failing. I was picking up my daughter from school the other day and the visor fell in front of me in the middle of heavy traffic and I had to slam on my brakes. My 6 year old daughter was crying and very frightened as was I. I am hoping that something can be done as this visor issue is a significant safety issue where lives are in danger.

70 Visibility problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/10/2010

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano. The sunvisor on the driver's side wouldn't stay up and was right in my line of sight. I had it replaced and cost nearly $400. Now the passenger side won't stay up either. The price has increased to nearly $500!!! this is a safety hazard and needs to be recalled by Nissan. I can's safely drive the car with the sun visor always in the down position. I have tried velcro and it won't hold it up. I saw online there have been multiple complaints about this problem and Nissan refuses to help any of their customers except to pay the cost of replacement. This is a safety issue and Nissan needs to issue a recall on their sun visors.
