1 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2020

Under light acceleration the transmission shudders till it gets to 40. Happens at every light. Have to keep pushing the pedal to try to avoid it. At other times it still shudders anyways. Sometimes when put in d or r it won't respond to pedal and will basically coast if at an angle.

2 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2019

Original transmission replaced in March 2018 with error code p17f0 due to transmission shuddering. Recently started having same issues happen again, while driving home from work, noticed sudden acceleration delay when at stopped positions/low speed positions. Vehicle noise has become very loud when idle or low speed. Took it into Nissan dealer, they were able to replicate error and identified same issue. Since no error code, the warranty department stated cannot be fixed because there's no code. Nissan has recommended driving around until error code pops up - 3000km/3mos left on extended warranty. If error code doesn't get stored, I'm told they can't fix. Taking back in for re-diagnosis as transmission noise is unbearable.

3 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2019

The cvt transmission keeps shuddering and I was told it may cause the vehicle to suddenly shut down or loose power when driving Nissan says there aware of the problem but no solution unless I want to replace the transmission.

4 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

Since brand new transmission shudders on acceleration occasionally. Nissan is aware and has been made aware of problem and issue but will offer nothing more than discount on next purchase. Has been back to dealership many times over issue and transmission has been reprogrammed but problem continues. Makes for dangerous situation when entering highway.

5 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2017

Transmission shudder at lower speeds when accelerating into traffic. First transmission replaced by Nissan at ~5400 miles. The second event: transmission shudder at low speeds, accelerating in city (atlanta) traffic. Noticeable shudder on deceleration as well. The second transmission is going in 03/31/17 at ~84000 miles.

6 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2015

The car was vibrating heavily. People said the transmission shudder.

7 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2014

While driving at a slower speed on the parking lots, around my neighborhood streets and on turns when the vehicle speed in less than 25 mph and when the rpm is between 600 and 1200, the vehicle slows down, shudders and shakes as if the transmission was going out. This happens for 4-5 seconds. I have seen this happen more often when I slow down on the parking lots or on the neighborhood streets. At that time the vehicle acts as if the it is having issue shifting down and just shakes/shudders. I have taken the vehicle to a Nissan dealer multiple times but still the problem has not been corrected. The first time I took it, the dealership told me that there was a bulletin out from Nissan and they knew what to fix and they claimed they fixed it but the issue resurfaced after few hours. The second time I took the vehicle to the dealership, they told me they could not reproduce the issue! Nissan needs to carefully investigate and fix this serious safety issue.

8 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2013

Intermittent transmission shudder ranging from mild to violent with accompanying decrease of power. Shudder primarily occurs at low speed in the 20-40 mph range but has also occurred at highway speeds when transmission is not shifting. Shudder seems to be caused by a variety of variables including speed and degree of inclination of the road. Loss of power has occurred in potentially dangerous passing situations.

9 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2013

We purchased a new 2013 Nissan Pathfinder on approx 6/2013 and now have 10,000 miles on it. The last few weeks we have been noticing at slow speeds approx 25 mph we are experiencing a shudder in the transmission. It is happening fairly consistent now at 25mph and under a load like a slight incline. It requires a release of the throttle and reapply to get the shudder to stop and start pulling again. This is a potentially very dangerous situation if you are crossing oncoming traffic and have to release the throttle, not a good thing! I am now reading of many other owners who are experiencing the same type issue and there are now 4 service bulletins relating to transmission issues on this vehicle and they are not fixing the problems. I am schedule for my first appointment next week to address this issue. We have been a very faithful Nissan owner of 3 prior Nissans, but this will be my last!.

10 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2013

Driving along at a relatively slow pace around 45 mph the transmission shook and shudders. It feels like going over rumble strips. The vehicle has done this multiple times this weekend at 25 mph and at 45 mph. The vehicle is 2. 5 months since purchased new. It has been to the dealer for this issue 500 miles ago. The transmission was replaced with a factory remanufactured transmission and is starting to do the exact same problem it had prior to the replacement. Nissan had the vehicle for 23 days to replace the trans and additionally had the vehicle for 3 days to repair the a passenger air bag seat sensors when it failed during the delivery. Nissan is aware of the problems with the Pathfinder transmissions that the buyers are having and continue to sell these vehicles to the consumers. This was a very expensive purchase and the expectations were high. Those expectations have been lost Nissan has refused to refund the purchase price to me or replace the vehicle. This is my second report to NHTSA. My first odi was 10547158. I have sought legal counsel. In my opinion Nissan is negligent in selling these vehicle when they are aware of them having these problems with the transmissions and they have no fix that adequately solves the issue. I will return the vehicle to the dealership. This is not right that a brand new vehicle has to go back to shop for more downtime after already being out of service for 26 days out of the first 45 days of ownership.

11 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

Transmission shuddered, squeaky noise in the brake system with my foot off the brake pedal.

12 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

Transmission shudders / judders at light acceleration during low speed. I took my vehicle to dealership on 1/05/2014 with 10,211 miles on it. Their technician confirmed that this is a known problem of 2013 Pathfinder, they gave the transmission a update. The problem continued so upon going back to the dealer they then installed a new transmission. It has not even been 3 weeks and we are already losing power and starting to shudder again.

13 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

Was driving in traffic and tapping gas pedal very lightly maintaining speed with traffic the transmission began to shudder and lost power. When I stepped harder on gas pedal the car hesitated and then went. It felt like running over rumble strips. About 10 minutes later it did it again so I called dealer cause the car was brand new. They said they were aware of the issue with this model and to bring it in 2 days later on weds 10/3/13. I asked if it was safe to drive it or should I have it towed they said to drive it. It did the same thing multiple times that day I was able to record one event on an iphone. I brought the vehicle into the dealer early as I did not want to cause any damage to the transmission which appeared to be slipping and banging. The vehicle has been there for multiple days already and they predict at least two weeks at which time they plan to change the transmission with a remanufactured trans. I said I would not accept a used part/ remanufactured as the vehicle is brand new and was very expensive. I bought a brand new vehicle for a reason I wanted new not used. Wanted no problems huh they referred me to Nissan consumer affairs. They called and said they are reviewing the issue with the dealer and will get back to me 10/8/13 a week has already past and no resolution. The vehicle was also in for service for the passenger airbag as it was displayed at delivery and the vehicle was returned to dealer minutes after delivery and was kept for 4 days to make that repair. All told the vehicle was in service for about 1 month and appears that it will be in the shop for 3 weeks. Very disappointed and not happy with answers from Nissan thus far.

14 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2013

My transmission has a shudder anywhere between 10-20 mph and also has a lugging around 50 mph. My transmission has been replaced, reprogrammed and still has the same issues.

15 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2013

Transmission shudders as if running over the rumble strips on the side of the road. Loss of power when shudders as well. Transmission will have to be replaced.

16 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2013

Transmission shudders at low speed up inclines. There needs to be a recall as this affected a broad segment of 2013 Pathfinders. This has happened multiple times. The dealer service bulletin to reprogram the computer did nothing.

17 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2013

Transmission shudder on accelerating 18 to 20 mph.

18 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

On several occasions that day I experience the transmission shuddering while accelerating lightly between 10-20 mph feeling as though I was going over a warning strip. It would occur during turns and when I slowed nearly to a stop for a stoplight and cars ahead of me and then accelerate through that 10-20 mph.

19 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2013

Intermittent transmission shudder ranging from mild to violent with accompanying decrease of power. Shudder primarily occurs at low speed in the 20-40 mph range but has also occurred at highway speeds when transmission is not shifting. Shudder seems to be caused by a variety of variables including speed and degree of inclination of the road. Loss of power has occurred in potentially dangerous passing situations.

20 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2013

Transmission shudder and loosing power for a brief moment on accelerating around 20-30 mph. It feels as if driving on rough surface. It is progressivelly getting worse.

21 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2013

During light to moderate acceleration, there is a shudder in the transmission. It feels as though the transmission is slipping. This has happened multiple times in the last few days.

22 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2013

Transmission shudders when accelerating from a low speed of approx 25-30 mph. Entire vehicle shakes like you are driving over speed bumps. Occurs everyday.

23 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2013

When starting from being stopped and also when going slow from first to second gear, transmission shudders and jerks like it is stuck and can't get into the next gear. Took back to dealership and they confirmed there is a problem and that Nissan is investigating but doesn't have a fix yet but hopes to by April 2013. Most expensive car we ever bought and we have only had it a month and it is doing it more and more frequently. If Nissan knew there was a problem they should have stopped selling the cars or at least notify the potential buyer of the problem. We also have the passenger airbag problem too.

24 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2013

We bought a Nissan Pathfinder 2013 brand new from Nissan dealership. After 2 months ,SUV transmission shuddering occurred . We contact the dealer ship and manufacturing people they replaced (October. )transmission to refurbished . December 2013 same thing happen but took it again to same dealership workshop, they said they didn't find anything. Asked us to get used to driving this SUV. But it's been going on. Finally we took it again to different dealership we bought this from, they found same transmission issue . Nissan manufacturing & dealership fighting their best to not to replace a new car or new transmission . Only refurbished transmission and it won't come with extended warranty. Current miles on the SUV is 15,821. . We really hate to be their ginny pig with this small kids. Reason I'm writing this to you cause, we are really frustrated, not safe to drive this vehicle with small kids. I have 5 year old and 6 month old at home. When I drive this vehicle I’m scared and pray before when we go anywhere and we are uncomfortable due to back back shuddering problem (loosing power) . We felt we been cheated and got no justice for the money and time we spend on this piece of junk we bought . We already spend a lot of money for this vehicle don't have enough money to spend on lawyer, so would you please do some investigation, please consider our issue seriously . My kids are 5 year old and 6 month old. We felt like we spend more time and energy on this issue more than our kids. Its breaking our heart that no one care.
