I bought this vehicle in 2018 since then I've had this vehicle in the shop multiple times . My differential was replaced a few months after I bought the vehicle along with my fan blades . This is again an issue for my car this just having gotten it back because I had to do a complete engine replacement in my now only 4 year old car . My car was out of warranty from Nissan based on any of the mileage . I took it to one dealership who claimed that I had metal in my oil said nothing of smudge in the oil mind you I had just had my oil changed again not told anything . I was driving home from work in March 2020 when my low oil pressure light kicked on which didn't make sense as I had just had an oil change a few weeks prior and kept up on my oil changes . The engine that is in my vehicle is apparently Nissans newest engine and a very expensive one at that . I requested an exception from Nissan in regards to the engine so I did as they said and took it to another dealership this time the Nissan dealership . They claimed my engine was a total loss and it was due to lack of maintenance there was no way this was the case in my situation . Nissan informed me that maybe the previous own r had done it and basically there was nothing that could be done . So I got online and started looking around to find that other people had reported the same thing . My vehicle is primarily all highway driving I paid over 7k for a new engine to be put in my car from a local shop . The engine had to be taken out twice because the inside pistons were sticking this was on the new engines . Once my engine was finally installed and my 02 sensors replaced as well a week later my car was throwing a misfire for low oil pressure light. This clearly is a fault with Nissans design of this engine . I have spent thousands on a newer vehicle with no help from Nissan and no fault of my own .

My vehicle began to make a knocking noise in the rear when turning. I took the car in to be assessed and was sold a new set of rear shock-absorbers. It was immediately evident that the problem was not resolved, so I took the vehicle back to the dealer service department. They found that the rear differential was failing and shards of metal had broken off. The vehicle was repaired under warranty. The failure occurred at about 50000 miles.

Airbag light had come on indicating an issue, but also light and controls on the steering wheel are failing. Vehicle has never been in an accident and there is no reason for this failure. Abs brakes activate randomly without warning preventing and causing the inability to stop. Abs can not be stopped unless I stop and turn off my vehicle and start again. Very dangerous. Cant stop when I need to. During city driving on a dry surface and approaching a stop light my brakes failed several times with the abs activating and making it impossible to stop. Random and without warning. Front differential cracked for no apparent reason and didn't provide any warnings, pinion seal leak appeared less than two years. In addition vehicle was in service for evap system 11 times in the first year without resolve. Gad consumptions was horrible and below any suggested mpg. Tire sensors have never worked and failed to alert low pressure in tires. Tire pressure has been unstable no mater what tires are installed or how many sensors are put on. Stability in steering is sloppy when going over any kind of bump in the road. Unstable when driving. Speed can cause problems when driving curves. Rollovers are definitely possible without much speed when on ramps and curves. Use extreme caution.

My vehicle is to the point I am afraid to drive it. Something in steering mechanism, idk but when driving any differential in the road the vehicle is all over the road. . I am a single person with grandchildren and this is not safe. It is so bad it walks into another lane of traffic. This started a few weeks ago and I took to a local mechanic and he could not find a problem.

I am the one owner of this vehicle which I purchased new in quincy, massachusetts in 2008. I began to sense a clunk or slippage in my transmission about two weeks before the incident. I immediately took the car to an oil change place and had my transmission and differential fluids replaced. Cost $150. Attendent noted magnetic plug had metal shavings and some discoloration in transmission fluid but nothing conclusive to work on. Approx two weeks later while driving up a grade, I experienced a serious "clunk" and immediately pulled into the next service station I could find. I was 100 miles from home. After leaving the car for diagnostic work, I went online to find other similar complaints concerning radiator coolant leaking into the transmission and causing catastrophic failure with no warning. I called the mechanic to report what I had found and asked him to check this condition first. He reported back that this is exactly what happened and I may have caught the defect in time to save the transmission. The mechanic worked on the car for two days to fix the problem. Cost $1100. I have put about 300 miles on the car as of this writing and I now have only an occasional/minor "clunk. " I believe this is clearly a defective Nissan part and note that other people are finding Nissan uncooperative in taking responsibility for this defect. I have receipts for my work done and will provide them if needed. Sincerely kevin meagher.
During the month of December 2012 I had my Nissan truck serviced. The diagnostic test recommended to replace rear differential fluid, replace cabin air filter, replace windshield wiper blades, air filter, perform engine coolant exchange , transmission fluid exchange, power steering system fluid exchange, perform brake system fluid exchange, and fuel injection . I also had to replace the catalytic converter, which was done by Nissan. I had all of these services performed by the Nissan automotive department. On February 28 2013, my service engine soon light comes on along with sensor light indicating a door is open. However, no doors were open. I take the truck back to Nissan, and they tell me the transmission is about to go out!!!! how is this possible? I have always taken my truck to Nissan to perform the service . I am outraged!!!! all of the service needed has always been performed by Nissan. Please help!!!!.

While backing out of a parking space, I heard a loud "clang" which sounded like it came from the engine compartment or under the front of the car. It sounded like a metal rod hit another piece of metal. As I was already out of my space, I proceeded forward, but my car lacked power. I was finally able to gain enough power to move forward, but something was obviously wrong. I was able to get my car to the dealer, avoiding the highway for fear of getting hit by someone while my car had very little responsiveness. The dealer inspected the car and claimed to be surprised of the failure, which was that transmission fluid had leaked into the radiator, and coolant into the transmission. The dealer quoted me $7000 to fix this issue. After calling around and finding an aamco dealer who explained to me this well known issue, I was quoted a price of "only" $3800 to fix it. The problem, as described by the mechanic, was a faulty design where the transmission fluid travels through the radiator with some sort of valve box between them and the heat differential between the coolant and transmission fluid necessarily causes the valve box to decay causing the 2 fluids to mix. The result is a completely ruined radiator, completely ruined valve box, and if not treated early, a completely ruined transmission. Obviously, if I am driving my children on vacation and we're coming down a mountain when the transmission fails, this could be very tragic! now I am out a car, forced to obtain a rental car, and still need to correctly fix my own car. What's more, if I use the same components that Nissan has designed, I will only be setting myself up for future problems. I looked online to see if anyone else had this problem and was amazed to find so many people with the same issue, describing in detail pretty much what the aamco mechanic told me. I find it hard to believe that the folks at Nissan had never heard of it. It is obviously a faulty design and Nissan needs correct it.
Over 40 mph, I get a rear end sway or wobble when accelerating in my '02 Nissan Pathfinder . Sway reverses when I let up on the gas. Feels like I'm losing control of the vehicle. I was told by an online mechanic that it was most likely the rear suspension links for the rear differential, the bushings are torn or broken. When broken will cause the back end of the truck to feel loose. Inspect all 4 rear links and replace which ever links you find bad.

Suspension causing vehicle to sway violently when going 50mph. . Consumer states the tires wore out at 20,000 miles, the shocks and struts were replaced at 42,000 miles, consumer was informed that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle after complaining about the vehicle swaying, however the vehicle was taken to another shop and the trailing arms were replaced which then corrected the problem, also the power steering fluid was leaking, the muffler was replaced due to rust and the exhaust manifold was cracked due to stress, the front differential pinion seal was leaking, the center cap that goes on the stock wheels on the front seat was installed.
