Our renter states that the vehicle was great up until the incident. States that they filled the vehicle up with gas around 4pm before parking it just out in front of where they were staying. At 1am they were awoken by a disturbance outside and someone banging on their door telling them they needed to come outside - when he arrived he noticed the vehicle completely engulfed in flames. The fire department arrived but it took almost an hour, per renter, to put out the flames as the vehicle kept leaking gasoline. Apparently there is a witness to the beginning of the fire from a rita rans (504-319-3299) who heard the vehicle's horn and observed no one in the vehicle and then there was an "explosion" as it caught fire (potential alarm?) the fire report confirms that our rental vehicle caught fire. They indicate that the fire was "mechanical malfunction" and "unintentional. " the vehicle was parked and unoccupied at the time of combustion. *** please contact the adjuster we hired to assist us with this matter. All steering wheel lights do not work. Horn does not work and airbag light is flashing. I replaced busted radiator at 115,000 miles. Vehicle would turn off at any speed. It is only a matter of time before people get killed due to this defect. I had to replace several sensors. My vehicle has currently been parked in my driveway for over 3 weeks. I cannot figure out what is wrong with it. It is a shame that this company is being allowed to get away with all this. It is not a matter of if someone gets killed, if it hasn't happened yet, but when. This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned and will never purchase another vehicle from this company again.

I bought the car in Feb. Of 2009 and by March of 2009 the fuel sensor started acting funny. It was not covered(which it should have been by the dealer) and I could not afford to pay out of pocket. Now the fuel level will read "- - -" when the tank is less than 1/4 a tank of gas and it also makes the "service engine light" come on. It is not safe for families to be driving with a defective fuel sensor. I did receive the something in the mail about a recall on the gas gauge, but my vehicle had just passed the 72000 mile mark(72135 roughly) so I was told that it was not covered and I would have to pay out of pocket for the problem. I have been looking online and the fix is very expensive $500 and up. On a one income home I cannot afford to pay for a part that should have been fixed by the dealer before I bought the vehicle! also, when locking the car the horn does not sound anymore. This is not a huge deal but I am wondering if it has something to do with the "service engine light" that came on because of the fuel sensor.
