Transmission Failure Problems of Nissan Pathfinder - part 2

My only one family vehicle suffered the now known 2008 Nissan Pathfinder radiator and transmission failure and breakdown due to coolant leak into the transmission. I've purchased this vehicle pre-owned from np Mazda in san antonio texas. They did not inform me of this known issue which involved several year models for the Pathfinder. I've spent a little over $5k of loaned money to have this resolve via independent transmission specialist as gunn Nissan presented me with a much higher price quote. I recently found out from a local Nissan service specialist that my vehicle currently have an extended warranty designed specifically for this and as a result of October 2012 class action lawsuit settled by court and Nissan corp. I am attempting to have Nissan help me with some of recently mentioned financial impact regarding their well known defect.

"takata recall" out of the clear blue I was driving my 2007 Pathfinder and the airbag light came on, I took it to the dealership immediately that day and it passed per service manager louis castillo at baker jackson Nissan in houston texas, 2 days later the light came back on and once again I went to the dealer ship and was told that the sensors and other parts needed to be replaced the cost is $1500. I called Nissan corp and they are refusing to taking responsibility even though they stated all 2007 Pathfinders in other states would be given a 10 year warranty. My truck was also affected with the radiator flulid mixing with the transmission fluid, during the years of 2010-2012 I constantly took my truck to baker jackson Nissan and the service manager then larry just topped off my truck himself and never made a record of it. He kept assuring me that he was saving me money. My transmission failed but because of the mileage in 2012 Nissan was able to deny fixing my transmission via the class action lawsuit. I ended up spending $4800 for a new transmission. In 2010 Nissan convinced me to replace my train for $1600, I never knew it was a recall until today. Another caveat to this mess is that baker jackson changed their computer system and has no record of me replacing my train. I have a bank statement to prove it if necessary.

Radiator failure 1/7/2011 at 73,958 miles, causing transmission failure, repaired under warranty by Nissan dealer, then again failure at 1/15/2016 150,500 miles - same problem.

The transmission failed on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder due to a poor engineering issue from Nissan. This problem is a very dangerous problem. Transmission can fail at anytime.

Transmission failure just bought truck for about 3 months for daughter never drove it first putting on the highway truck stop moving in the middle of traffic in the fast lane cause two accident get it pull home then found out its the transmission an alot of people having the same problem once it cools off it will drive till the transmission gets hot then it stops working again.

My wife was taking the kids to school and while driving in the drop off line heard a loud "thunk". We had to get it towed to the nearest dealership and pay the $99. 00 diagnostic fee to find out that the radiator leaked coolant into the transmission, which caused transmission failure. Apparently this is a common problem that Nissan is not addressing.

I was driving my 2007 Pathfinder with my 3 children in the back when the tires suddenly seemed to be slipping. I wasn't sure what was going on until I was on a big hill and car suddenly wouldn't go into gear. The transmission had blown on me, almost instantaneoulsy with little to no warning signs. The car started rolling backwards on the hill and luckily nobody was behind us. I hit the breaks and stopped the car. It had to be towed and I was stunned when my mechanic said the transmission was dead and it would cost around 3k to fix! "there was only 85k miles on the car and the transmission just blows like that," I asked him? he told me that this was a problem very common with some Nissan cars. I immediately went online and found out that this is known problem with Nissan Pathfinders and xterras, due to fault manufacturing and a lawsuit was brought up against them (a few years before this happened to me). I feel it's outrageous that these cars can still be sold by the dealer (we bought it used with 60k miles on it) without some sort of warning label on it. Thank god my kids didn't get hurt somehow, because it was quite a hazardous situation when the transmission fails suddenly at the top of a big, long hill! if my kids had gotten hurt, I probably could have sued them for a billion dollars, but since I acted quickly, nobody was hurt, and thus, nobody at Nissan seemed to care when I complained. They should be held accountable for fault manufacturing! no car's transmissions suddenly break down for no apparent reason with less than 90k miles on it!.

Was told transmission failed due to faulty radiator.

My transmission failed due to a leak in the radiator. I am beyond upset. No way this should have happened. This car is cared for perfectly. My transmission shop estimates the cost will be over $3000. Transmission shop told me this is a very common problem with this make and model.

I bought a new Nissan 2014 Pathfinder about 16 months ago and have experienced multiple transmission issues, which causes the car to shutter and jerk violently at speeds usually between 20-30 and 40-50. The symptoms started out every so often and then progressed to happening every time I drove the vehicle. At about 25k miles it got frequent, which is when we took it into the Nissan dealership and they determined that we needed a new transmission, and we had it replaced. A short time after having the transmission replaced (about 2 months), we noticed the shutter symptoms happening again at the same speeds. This time around, we also noticed when we went down large hills, the rpms would shoot up uncontrollably at speeds less than 20 and begin to shutter the car, which was dangerous and it felt like we could not control the descent. We took the vehicle back to the Nissan dealership and indeed, another transmission failure. The dealership called it a transmission valve problem (not exactly sure what that is) this time around, which is part of the transmission. Nissan has known about these cvt failures for a couple of years and has continued to sell them knowing they don't know why they keep having failures. Bottom line is, take it in when you feel the first shutter. These cars need to be all bought back from the consumers.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Nissan pathifinder. The contact stated that the transmission failed on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the anti-freeze and oil had leaked into the transmission causing it do fail. The contact spoke to the manufacturer about the repair, but was told this was an isolated incident and would not be covered. The contact did have the transmission replaced. The current mileage was 110000. Rl.

Possible transmission failure. Brought vehicle to be inspected and could get a clear answer which one of the observations was perform at a Nissan dealer. The fluids seems to be mixed, transmission with radiator fluid. Seems as this has been and on going problem with Nissan. Dealer tells me the cant find the recall.

The radiator failed causing engine coolant to mix with the transmission fluid. This caused damage to all of the engine coolant parts and caused a complete transmission failure.

My transmission went out on a busy intersection due to this coolant leaking into my transmission. My children were in the back seat when my transmission failed. Glad we didn't end up in a reckless and that my children are safe. There is numerous reports of this happening to these Pathfinders how is this not a recall.

Car shut down on dart train tracks, transmission failed to work, radiator had oil and leaked into transmission.

Nissan new about this problem for years and done nothing about it. Their defective radiator is leaking into the transmission and causing my transmission to fail, and they have the balls to ask me to pay for it. I have had nothing but Nissan vehicles for the last 20 years and was about to trade in for a new maxima. Oh well maybe it is time to change to a different brand.

My Pathfinder broke down due to the transmission failing while driving. I was just pulling into my housing development and had to kill and restart the truck to get it to make it into the driveway. Apparently this is a known issue by Nissan, where there's a crack that allows the radiator coolant and transmission fluid to mix, causing the transmission to fail. This is extremely wrong that a consumer must pay out of pocket for a known and acknowledged flaw in the manufacturer's design.

After 2 days of purchasing this vehicle I traveled out of state and the car started jerking after making a stop and resuming speed. I had to drop off at a nearby dealer and had to rent a vehicle to get back home. They have not fixed the problem yet but I think it will end up being transmission failure. I am very disappointed with Nissan. It is the second car that we get and have the same problem.

While driving 70mph on the interstate, car started surging just before the cvt transmission totally failed, redlining the engine. Transmission had been suddering and surging prior to the failure. Nissan knows this is a problem with their cvt units, it's all over the internet. Car was towed and cvt replaced. Now 2000 miles later it's starting again.

Radiator failed and cross contaminated transmission with anti-freeze and transfluid. Replaced radiator and flushed transmission in sept 2014 and three months later dec18, 2014 the transmission failed. Repair center said it will cost $4500-$5000 for repair of transmission.

From dead stop at stop sign, pushed on gas with resultant "grind" of transmission. Happened 3 more times over the course of 2 weeks. Took into dealer. Transmission failure due to cracked radiator leaking coolant into transmission. Known problem with certain Nissan models. Nissan only did an extended warranty that tapered off every year/10,000 miles. After 100,000 miles no help. This was not a result of worn out transmission, this was a result of engineering/manufacturing defect and should have been covered by Nissan 100%.

Discovered a small pool of purple liquid under front left tire of my 2007 Nissan Pathfinder in the garage yesterday. Thought that must not be good, so I started doing some research online. Behold, discovered it was most likely a radiator leak and most likely leaked into transmission as well. Took the vehicle in today, and my concerns were confirmed. Radiator replacement = $800. Transmission is working normally right now, but from what I can tell the damage may already be done and its only a matter of time before catastrophic transmission failure +$4000. The issue I have with this whole situation is Nissan is very aware of this defect, yet did not issue a recall. All they did was extend radiator/transmission warranty. This warranty does not apply to my vehicle being over 100k miles. All Nissan had to do was issue a recall, fix the defective radiator (probably a $500 fix for them) instead, they ignored it, and the customer is stuck with a $5000 fix they did not even see coming due to them not notifying us about it. I am not pleased.
