36 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/17/2014

The trucks transmission slipped while I was merging onto the highway. The truck didn't want to move. It was very scary. I had the whole family with me.

37 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/15/2014

Bought this vehicle advertised as "new" however started having multiple issues within the first few days. The fuel gauge would read "0" miles regardless of how much the fuel tank was filled, and the transmission started slipping the 4th day. I would be driving along at anywhere from 30-55 mph when this would happen. Took it back to the original dealer for repair, who refused to put it in the shop and check it out, so I took it to another dealer who said that they were unable to reproduce the defects in the shop. I took it back multiple times for the same issues and they ended up putting more mileage on the vehicle than I did in the first 3 weeks with continuous "inability to reproduce results," however, as soon as I would leave the shop to go home the transmission would slip and the car would decelerate almost to a stop and then lunge again when it would kick back in. The fuel guage continued to read zero at fill ups, very frustrating. I called Nissan consumer affairs with no real progress. The dealer refused repair printoffs as well, so I really don't know what they did to the vehicle while it was in the shop.

38 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/28/2013

Car purchased in sept of 2013, was speeding up from a stop at about 10 mph and the transmission started to slip. It has done it more than once, about 2 weeks ago I was crossing the railroad tracks and it shuttered and jerk, finally getting over them which was extremely scary with my 9 and 2 year old in the car with me. This past week the car has over heated 3 times. The last time leaving me stranded in -5 degrees temperature with my 9 year old daughter. I have since had to borrow a car seeing this Nissan is putting my family in danger every time we drive it. Since it was just purchased with 79,000 I still owe on the vehicle which is extremely upsetting. I have done research since and have see several people with the same problems. I will be taking the vehicle to the dealer this week to clarify this is the same issue as all the others. What upsets me even more is the car was sold to me from a Nissan dealer with 79,000 miles and was never mentioned to me of the extended 80,000 miles warranty, since then I have exceeded the 80,000 and am required to pay for this problem that should clearly be a recall. If there was still a warranty at 79,000 why wasn't this issue fixed by the dealer!!! please do all you can to help all these poor families out there!! thank you.

39 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/16/2013

My family and I were driving home. We live in the mountains of wnc and as we were heading up and incline the transmission slipped and after much research I believe I am the owner of a Nissan vehicle with the transmission/coolant issue involved in the class action lawsuit in NY. However, because my vehicle has 154,000 miles on it and the issue just occurred I am unable to join the lawsuit. I still want you to be aware that this issue has no deadline on it and Nissan should be held accountable for every defective vehicle still on the road regardless of age and mileage. If the problem is specifically attributable to the defective radiator and Nissan has not fixed it then Nissan sold a defective vehicle, period. Had this defect not been built into the vehicle I am sure it would be operational right now. I also own a 2001 chevy cavalier with over 200,000 miles and it is still running!!! shame on Nissan!!!!.

40 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/23/2013

Sudden jerking in the vehicle when travelling at highway speeds. The problem has been diagnosed as a failed transmission cooler which allows coolant to mix with the transmission fluid, causing internal damage to the components. Nothing happened before, but the transmission started slipping 5th gear and no going into it, now 4 and third finally just stopped moving. . . Repair cost is going to be 6500$ at the Nissan dealership and they will not admit a known issue. . . .

41 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/23/2013

Radiator failed (product defect, no accident or external causes) and leaked into the transmission, effectively destroying it. Had to get both radiator and transmission replaced. Symptoms started with shuddering during shifting, which led to rough shifting, gear slippage, check-engine light, and eventually the car not even starting.

42 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/21/2013

My transmission began slipping, that was the first time I noticed it distinctly. The other times had been going up hills or slowing down. I came within a couple of feet from rear-ending the car in front of me because my car didn't shift downward at a stop light. A minute later I had to pull over because my car wouldn't shift into 3rd gear (automatic). This same thing happened several more times, I took it in to Nissan they put a stop-gap fix, a "modulator" on it. They already had reports knowing that wasn't going to fix it, but did it anyway. Nissan didn't test drive it, just gave it back to me. I drove it less than 2 miles & turned around, they kept my vehicle for 5 weeks, put in a refurbished transmission (in my new car). The transmission is starting to slip, again. They told me I could get compensation, but lied. I'm scared to drive it, but don't know what to do! we can't afford another vehicle. This is a lemon and needs to be recalled! the value has already started to drop more than $10,000. I spent several days and lots of gas money driving up to pick up my car, that wasn't ready! the repair shop was nice, but the corporate offices lied and were disrespectful every time.

43 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/31/2013

I have the same problem with my Pathfinder that I see several people having. The shuddering is like the transmission is slipping and it has happened in various situations. It is not a sideways shudder like a shake, it is a lack of forward motion (while the engine revs to higher rpms) so severe that it feels like being rear ended and has nearly slammed me into the steering wheel more than once. I have had two different dealerships check it and both said there was no problem because it is not throwing an error code on the computer. Finally, it did it all the way to my work one morning (30+ miles) so I took it to the dealership where I purchased it again. Same results, except they tried to pass it off as a bad wheel bearing and replaced one of my wheel bearings. They called me to tell me it was ready for pick up and I refused to pick it up until the problem is fixed (I now have 40k miles, warranty is getting close to being up). I could go on and on about how this has played out, but long story short, they are now in the process of replacing my coil packs and if that doesn't work, then they are going to try replacing the transmission. It is very disappointing since the first 2 Nissans I owned were great vehicles.

44 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/19/2013

Coolant leaking into transmission causing failure and slippage. When coming to abrupt stops transmission "jerks" and "bucks" also, upon accelerating, transmission slips and is unable to accelerate properly. Safety issue with proper driving capability.

45 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/04/2013

Was exiting a side street onto a high traffic road turning left, crossing oncoming traffic. Vehicle lurched forward then lost all forward acceleration. Leaving me in oncoming traffic lane. A separate vehicle nearly impacted the front driver door of my vehicle, sliding to a stop. Upon vehicle inspection at the local dealer, it was determined the radiator that houses a transmission cooler failed and mixed anti-freeze in with the transmission, causing the vehicle to degrade quickly, causing a spurt of vehicle acceleration due to a large transmission slip. This could have cause a very serious injury or death had the other vehicle made contact with my vehicle.

46 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/02/2013

We purchased our Pathfinder from a dealership June 1, 2012. On July 2, 2013 we were driving back home and the transmission started to slip. Upon researching online immediately when we got home, we found that many, many others had the same issue and that it is caused by faulty design of the radiator and transmission. The radiator cracks and leaks directly into the transmission so there is no warning that there is an issue until it's too late. The next morning I immediately drove it to our nearest Nissan dealer to have it checked out. They informed me after my description of what was going on that indeed, that is probably what was wrong but they couldn't get me in to check it out for another 6 days (and it would be $109) to diagnose. They also informed me that Nissan has issued a conditional warranty of them. Up to 80,000 miles, they cover any expense past $2,500. Up to 90,00 miles, they cover any expense past $3,000. Up to 100,00 they cover any expense past $3,500. There is no coverage past 100,000 miles and the average cost to repair is $7000. 00. Our transmission failed at 108,000 miles. Now we are stuck paying out of pocket for a flawed design that Nissan acknowledges is their fault. How is there not a mandatory recall on these models and Nissan not required to replace these issues in full on their dime. . For their mistake? the conditional warranty offered is a joke and I am infuriated that Nissan is not covering our flawed vehicle also. This failure is in no wise due to any neglect or misuse of the owner/operator's part. Where is the responsibility for this product? why must we continue to promote a mindset of neglecting responsibility for what we produce? where is the quality? where is the follow-through?.

47 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

While backing out of a parking space my check engine light came on and it felt like my transmission was slipping. I had the vehicle towed to the Nissan dealer. They told me the radiator failed and the radiator fluid seeped into the the transmission fluid causing everything to fail. 80, 000 miles is the warranty. I am just over that. They are offering me a $2500. 00 CO pay but I feel they should take care of this problem. There should be a recall on the radiator to prevent this problem.

48 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/19/2013

The transmission seems to slip or stutter or shake at low speeds. We notice it when making turns into parking lots or starting off at intersections or entering or exiting cloverleaf loop ramps at intersections. It is an intermittent problem. Sometimes it stutters and shakes harder than at other times. We first noticed it only a couple of weeks after we bought it.

49 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/18/2013

After driving around I had milky substance coming out of the over flow. When I checked it, the transmission was dry and it had mixed in the with radiator fluid. On a short trip before it was realized what had happen, the transmission was slipping and shifting hard.

50 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

The 2005 Nissan Pathfinder's transmission started to slip and engine speed would dip and vehicle would feel as though it was attempting to shift into a non existent gear at speed. Several weeks after this started to happen a notification was received in the mail pertaining to the coolant leaking into the transmission oil. After having replacing the radiator and flushing the transmission and replacing transmission oil, the transmission is continuing to slip. Awaiting word from Nissan north America to replace or fix this known issue.

51 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/29/2013

My wife was driving our 2007 Nissan Pathfinder and as she pulled away from a stop sign she felt the transmission slipping. A month earlier we took the vehicle to a shop for a transmission flush and the mechanic told me that it looked like chocolate milk and the engine coolant had mixed with the transmission fluid. He performed the flush and now we were having trouble with the vehicle again. I called the local Nissan dealer and they told me that it was a common problem with this model and could be fixed and all I would have to pay was a deductible which was cheaper than replacing the transmission. I asked how much was the deductible, foolishly thinking that it would be around $500, and they said it would be $3000. I asked why wasn't this treated as a recall and was not given a straight answer. Just the typical bs that Nissan extended the warranty because they "stand behind their product". Ultimately I took it to my mechanic who replaced the radiator and flushed it out. It's working now but I'm sure I will have trouble once again. I don't know how I will get rid of this vehicle and I still owe. I will never buy a Nissan and will bad mouth this company to everyone.

52 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/04/2013

April 2013 (96k) - transmission failed as I was pulling out of my parking space. Transmission and radiator were replaced under the extended warranty offered by Nissan at a CO-pay of $3000. February 2014 (105k) - transmission hose ruptured as I was driving on an expressway. I was able to pull off on an exit and park in a lot until a tow truck arrived. March 2014 (105k) - rpms spiking, sluggish acceleration as I was driving on a busy interstate. Transmission was again replaced. August 2014 (109k) - mechanic noticed leaking from transmission hose while replacing brakes. Drove to the dealer and had hose fixed again. September 2014 (109k) - transmission slipped as I was pulling out into traffic from a side street.

53 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/08/2013

Detected intermittent heat failure in the rear of the vehicle as well as the area surrounding the occupant's feet. Check engine light came on after 10 days of ownership. Dealership determined code was "transmission fluid pressure switch. " the service tech erased the code without performing service. 5 days later driver detected transmission slippage. Drove the vehicle to the dealership. Service tech and driver took a test drive. Service tech confirmed transmission was slipping. While driving back to the dealership, the driver pressed the gas pedal and the car wouldn't move. This created a safety issue for the driver and service tech. It happened twice more and the vehicle almost got stuck under the door trying to return to the dealership. Diagnosis by dealer: cvt failure.

54 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

I was driving down the highway during rush when all of a sudden my car wouldn't go over 45mph and the rpm went up to 6-7 rpm's as my transmission slipped. I was able to pull my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder over to the median, but it was too dangerous to exit and check the engine because of the rush hour traffic driving in excess of 65-70mph. I was able to get the truck towed to coggin Nissan in jacksonville, FL at my expense. The dealership stated that the transmission cooler line ruptured inside of the radiator allowing coolant and transmission fluid to mix and cross contaminate. They suggested I get a new radiator and transmission. The same dealership sold me the truck and a warranty by fidelity warranty services. The warranty company that is a subsidiary company of the dealership owed by south east Toyota (set) denied my claim saying to root of the problem was the radiator. Felt like this is a conflict of interest since set owns the warranty company, which would be like asking your boss to pay for something. Contacted Nissan and haven't heard back. All Nissan offered was info on the class action lawsuit which didn't help since this failure in their engineering of the vehicle didn't occur until after 107,710 miles was put on my vehicle. I bought the vehicle with only 93,844 miles on it, and have only had it for a year and a half. I still owe $10,000 and the dealership, warranty company, and Nissan have all failed to help fix a known manufacturer defect in the engineering design. I thank god that my pregnant wife was not in the truck with me at the time and we were hit. Nissan should take responsibility for their decisions and recall and fix this. All this is doing is causing loyal customers to leave Nissan, coggin Toyota at the avenues, and fidelity warranty services and expose them and their crooked actions.

55 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/28/2012

Automatic transmission started to slip after starting a vacation trip. Vehicle will not back up and only moves forward very slowly on level surface, will not climb hills. We had to have the Nissan Pathfinder towed 60 miles, impacted our holiday vacation as we had to return home earlier than planned.

56 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/17/2012

The transmission is slipping. The vehicle will suddenly lose its ability to move while under power. Checked transmission oil. The level is good but the fluid is "milky" in color. The fluid should be a clear, colored liquid. Suspect transmission line inside the radiator is fractured allowing coolant to mix with the transmission fluid.

57 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

I had experienced some slight jerking around 60-70 mph and dismissed it as the transmission just trying to decided between gears. Last night, while pulling away from a stop sign, the vehicle began to move forward then I heard a slipping noise and it felt like the transmission was slipping and wouldn't move. This occurred while I was in the midst of crossing an intersection with my pregnant girlfriend and a 5 year old in the vehicle. I immediately parked the vehicle to avoid any damage. The transmission fluid level was good, but seemed rather clear compared to fluid I had seen in the past. I had expected it to at the least, look dirty. After reading reports of issues online, my guess is the issue many others have reported of coolant mixing with the transmission fluid. I'm having a mechanic look into the issue as soon as possible.

58 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/10/2012

The transmission slips at various speed levels. The dealership inspected and determined that the transmission cooler failed and damaged transmission through cross contamination. The vehicle manufacturer knows that this problem exists but the warranty is only extended to 80000 miles but the problems in most cases show up after 80000 miles.

59 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/08/2012

I was leaving a restaurant parking lot with my wife and kids. I pulled to the parking lot exit and turned right onto the 4-lane boulevard. I tried to accelerate to traffic speed in the near lane but the motor simply raced and would not propel the vehicle. As traffic caught me I heard tires squealing and horns blowing from the vehicles behind me. The traffic worked around me while I shifted the transmission into park and then back into drive and began to move at idle speed. As traffic allowed I worked over into the left lane and then the turning lane while gradually accelerating to driving speed, merged back into traffic and proceeded home, careful to avoid any stop lights in busy traffic. We are fortunate that we were not involved in an accident. I'm no expert, but I do know that a vehicle that suddenly won't propel itself in traffic is as dangerous as one with no brakes. This was the one and only time that we experienced this problem. There was no previous indication that anything was wrong. I took the car to the Nissan dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a transmission coolant line failure which allowed transmission fluid and engine coolant to intermix in the radiator, engine block and transmission, which in turn caused the transmission to slip. I'm sure NHTSA has received many complaints about this problem. I'm hearing many of the same complaints just in my area and likely there are others that have not yet been reported. Hopefully no one will have to die or suffer serious injury because of this unsafe condition before a recall will be issued.

60 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

When I had about 87,000 miles on the vehicle, it started vibrating when I reached about 40 miles an hour. From there, the heat wouldn't work when I would stop at intersections or letting the car idle. I then had my coolant levels checked, and discovered my coolant was mixed with radiator fluid. I had the radiator replaced, and the vehicle drives, but only up to about 40 mph. Trying to accelerate beyond 40 mph and the engine revs high. Turns out my transmission is slipping as a result of the engine coolant getting into the transmission. The only way to continue to use my vehicle is to have the transmission rebuilt/remanufactured at a tune of $5,000. Well, I've already paid ~$40,000 for the vehicle, alone (excluding other repair items since I've owned it). The fact that I need to replace a major power train component to use such an expensive vehicle is beyond comprehension. Until the manufacturer (Nissan/Infiniti USA) takes responsibility for their major mishap, I discourage everyone I know from purchasing their vehicles. I bought a vehicle. . . One that should transport me from a point of origin to a point of destination (what it is designed to do). I didn't pay $40,000 for a hunk of plastic and metal to take up space in my driveway. Someone needs to do something about this major malfunction as expediently as possible. This should not be permitted to take place in the modern USA that we live in. Otherwise, what purpose does federal commissions serve if the citizens aren't protected from such fraud?.

61 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the transmission started to slip. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that anti-freeze had entered the transmission from the radiator. As a result, both the radiator and the transmission would need to be replaced. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 75,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.

62 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/30/2012

Due to unexpected transmission slip, I had a near miss at a 4-way stop intersection when my vehicle failed to accelerate as expected. Two other cars entered the intestection from the opposite directions and both had to stop when my vehicle failed to exit the intersection as they might have expected. My Pathfinder very slowly accelerated and eventually cleared the intersection. I called the dealear and after initial investigation, they advised me that coolant had leaked into the transmission due to failure of the transmission radiator, irreparably damaging the transmisssion. The transmission had to be replaced as did the radiator. Aside from the high costs of repairs which I consider to be unacceptable for a vehicle at its stage of service life, I consider the failure mode to present an unacceptable safety risk.

63 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/20/2012

While driving my 2007 Nissan Pathfinder se, I encountered a hesitation of transmission functionality while making a left hand turn across two lanes of oncoming traffic. As I proceeded to accelerate through the left turn, the transmission seemed to slip and would not get out of first gear. Subsequently, my service engine soon light came on. The next day, I took the vehicle to the local autoexpress to have the odb-ii code retrieved, I was informed that they could not read it as it was a dealer specific code. I left and went right to my local Nissan dealer who informed me that a part of the radiator had broken and the car was now mixing antifreeze with transmission fluid. They informed me that both the radiator and transmission had to be replaced at a cost of $9200. 00, the dealer suggested that I call Nissan as I was just 2000 miles over the warranty. After countless calls to the call center in the phillipines and the regional office in ohio, I was basically told that there was nothing they could do for me, they stated that because there were no records of maintenance being done at the selling dealership, I was out of luck. We purchased this vehicle brand new and it is a fully loaded model. The plan was to drive this to the 200k miles that Nissan has been pitched to commonly achieve. Instead, I have a car in the driveway that I cant drive, I still owe $4700 on it, and it will cost me $9l just to make it useful again. Nissan should be ashamed of themselves. It will not be until someone dies that any recall action will happen. Nissan has chased away a life-long loyal customer.

64 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

Transmission slips due to radiator fluid entering transmission. Transmission shifts rough and does not let vehicle get up to speed.

65 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/14/2012

As I was pulling out onto a busy street the transmission slipped and my two small sons and I nearly got nailed by angry oncoming traffic that honked, yelled, and inappropriately gestured at us to get out of the way. We could have been seriously injured as well as others. This happened more times than I can even remember. It also shudders and slips while driving at 40-50 mph. It is dangerous! why doesn't anyone do something! I had been trying to figure out the problem since 65,000 miles and at 80,300 miles we found trani fluid in the radiator. After googling the issue and learning that it was a part a of a classaction suit I was pissed that I hadn't been notified. I am a struggling mother of two and I am still paying for a car that I haven't been able to drive for the last year because I can't afford to fix it! I feel this is unacceptable and there should be a recall in place!!!! lives are being endangered!.

66 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/23/2012

In 2009, at 74,000 miles, I noticed the car "bucking" when driving. Started doing research and found that the radiator coolant leaks into the transmission cooler destroying the transmission. Nissan offered no help or recalls despite the fact that hundreds of the same vehicle were experiencing the same thing. Shortly after my vehicle passed 80,000 miles, Nissan issued a recall on only the radiator which doesn't help me. I immediately flushed the transmission and radiator to try to avoid complete failure of the transmission, bypassing the transmission cooler part of the radiator. The vehicle drove but the transmission constantly slipped in and out of gear at random times throughout the next 30,000 miles. Last week, the transmission finally quit in the middle of a busy intersection. I had to push the car into the nearest parking lot. Now the car is sitting in my driveway because it will cost me $6,000 to repair the transmission and radiator. Nissan needs to step up and admit that this should be a recall. I love Nissans (this is my 3rd) but after this problem I may never buy another one.

67 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/26/2012

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while accelerating after decelerating, the transmission slipped and acceleration power decreased. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the contact was informed that the transmission fluid that is lead through the radiator to be cooled, allowed water into the transmission and caused the transmission to fail. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 102,916 and the current mileage was 108,000.

68 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

I purchased this car as a "Nissan certified" vehicle it had 35000 miles. Thank god I purchased the extended warranty. The wheel bearings, fuel sensor, u joint, fuel gauge, timing chain, and many other small expensive annoyances had to be replaced and were covered on the warranty I bought, but most importantly the engine had to be replaced when I only had 100 miles left on my warranty. I thought I had replaced everything. But then this past June I was sitting in a drive thru and noticed a strong "wet" smell and noticed that my thermostat was buried into the red. I immediately pulled over and this pink ooze started pouring out onto the parking lot ruining the pavement. (the poor owner of the restaurant had to have it re-coated) after having it towed I was told that the coolant had leaked into my transmission. I had the radiator replaced and the transmission flushed 3 times to get out any ooze. Now my transmission is slipping and I have been told by a mechanic that it needs replaced. I still owe 9500 on this car and they want 5000 to replace the transmission. I have started researching on the internet and am finding hundreds of consumers with the same problem and no solution from Nissan. I purchased this car to go on vacations with my kids this car has space to move and a dvd to watch. Unfortunately I have never been able to trust this car and have always had to rent cars to go on long distances. If I would have taken this car this summer on vacation my family would have been stuck 800 miles from home and no car to get back. Nissan needs to make this right!.

The transmission is slipping while trying to accelerate or will downshift incorrectly and redline, making the tires chirp and almost lose control.

70 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/04/2012

Your website would not allow me to put in the transmission and radiator as affected parts. My vehicle with 77,000 miles on it had a slipping issue with my transmission and was brought to the dealership, along with the warranty upgrade notice provided by Nissan, for service. I notified the dealership of the transmission slipping and of the warranty notice, and that I wanted it looked at. They came back to me and verbally stated that there was no issue with my transmission. Dealer did not note it on the work order that they test drove and said there was no issue. Nissan is known to have radiator problems that lead to transmission failure for my type of vehicle. There is a class action lawsuit out right now about the issue. Nissan refused to do the work unless I paid for the $3000 CO-pay, and paid for the timing chain shoes, another Nissan known issue, another $1800. My vehicle is a 2008 Pathfinder with 92000 miles on it now. Just want Nissan to stand behind their product properly and replace the items required at no charge to me. Both of the issues could lead to a failure and cause a major accident.
