37 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/26/2013

When starting from being stopped and also when going slow from first to second gear, transmission shudders and jerks like it is stuck and can't get into the next gear. Took back to dealership and they confirmed there is a problem and that Nissan is investigating but doesn't have a fix yet but hopes to by April 2013. Most expensive car we ever bought and we have only had it a month and it is doing it more and more frequently. If Nissan knew there was a problem they should have stopped selling the cars or at least notify the potential buyer of the problem. We also have the passenger airbag problem too.

38 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/22/2013

I bought a 2007 Pathfinder from a very reputable used car business, carmax almost 3 years ago. They are very well known in the area for thoroughly checking their vehicles before reselling. It had approx 59k miles on it and I've loved it until recently. I started experiencing heating problems awhile ago but my mechanic couldn't find anything wrong - he even checked the radiator. A few months ago, the transmission would shudder occasionally when I reached about 40 mph. At first it was very minor, I actually thought it was maybe grooves in the road, etc but the issue got worse. I brought it to the dealer and was told I need a new radiator and transmission - this is a widespread problem. I was also told flushing the transmission probably wouldn't help. The radiator is going to cost me $913 and because this is such a widespread problem, a new transmission was the only thing they could find at $7400! I still owe on this vehicle and am wondering how will I ever trade this in or even afford to fix it. Nissan won't help in any way, even by discounting the labor and parts and the class action settlement won't help either because my Pathfinder has 109k miles on it - 9k over the extended warranty Nissan issued. What a disaster. I'm a single mom with a young daughter and a mother I care for. I recently took my family to visit my sister in west virginia, you know - mountains. Imagine if something would've happened then. I had no idea all of this was going on and am now terrified to drive it. I've never received notification from Nissan that there was a potential issue - I would've brought it to the dealer immediately and been covered for repairs!!! this is a nightmare and Nissan should be held responsible in some way. Why aren't they standing behind their product at all!! do a couple of hundred people have to get hurt before something is done?.

39 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/16/2013

We bought a Nissan Pathfinder 2013 brand new from Nissan dealership. After 2 months ,SUV transmission shuddering occurred . We contact the dealer ship and manufacturing people they replaced (October. )transmission to refurbished . December 2013 same thing happen but took it again to same dealership workshop, they said they didn't find anything. Asked us to get used to driving this SUV. But it's been going on. Finally we took it again to different dealership we bought this from, they found same transmission issue . Nissan manufacturing & dealership fighting their best to not to replace a new car or new transmission . Only refurbished transmission and it won't come with extended warranty. Current miles on the SUV is 15,821. . We really hate to be their ginny pig with this small kids. Reason I'm writing this to you cause, we are really frustrated, not safe to drive this vehicle with small kids. I have 5 year old and 6 month old at home. When I drive this vehicle I’m scared and pray before when we go anywhere and we are uncomfortable due to back back shuddering problem (loosing power) . We felt we been cheated and got no justice for the money and time we spend on this piece of junk we bought . We already spend a lot of money for this vehicle don't have enough money to spend on lawyer, so would you please do some investigation, please consider our issue seriously . My kids are 5 year old and 6 month old. We felt like we spend more time and energy on this issue more than our kids. Its breaking our heart that no one care.

40 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/05/2013

Fuel level sensor malfunction, gas gauge shows inaccurate amount of gas in tank. Cannot pass deq test until fixed. Appears to be ongoing issue with this make & model of vehicle. There needs to be an extension on the recall, very expensive too fix. Problem #2 severe transmission vibration at 50-70 mph, cannot operate in overdrive without having transmission causing severe jerking of vehicle. Very scary noise especially with little kids in car. There is a service bulletin on this issue and it needs to be moved to a full recall. Very dangerous!.

41 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder le was running great until fairly suddenly the transmission started rumbling loudly. Even though the car still was running I pulled off the side of the road to investigate. I could find no external problems. I continued driving eventually to the Nissan dealership where I was informed that my Pathfinders radiator had failed allowing engine coolant into the transmission. This resulted in a major repair event to include the radiator and transmission. This could have major consequences as the transmission violently shakes and shutters. In my case the SUV did not become disabled but you could easily see that happen.

42 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/22/2012

The automatic transmission shudders or vibrates extensively at approx 42 mph, 55 mph, and 62 mph. It cannot downshift properly - I have to drive above or below the referenced speeds to avoid the shaking. In later incidents, the vehicle jolted but not out of control.

43 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/22/2012

I had transmission problems, the transmission started vibrating and then would not move, I took to local transmission shop, they advised there was a problem in the radiator causing damage to transmission, I took to Nissan dealer they advised that Nissan had extended the warranty to 80,000 miles due to the radiator, however Nissan had not sent any information regarding a problem are extending the warranty. If I had known there was a problem with radiator, I would have had it checked prior to the 80,000 miles. Then Nissan sends letter that they are extending warranty to 100,000 miles with a 3,000 dollar deductible. If I had received a letter earlier from Nissan about the problem, I would have taken the Nissan to a dealer prior to the 80,000 miles. At times the transmission would stall out when making a turn, which could have caused a serious accident; fortunately there were no on coming traffic. The car also has a fuel gauge which gives a false reading at all times to the actual amount of fuel in the tank due to a faulty sending unit. So now I am stuck with a bill for 3,000 dollars. I feel Nissan was negligent in not advising their customers of the problem earlier. The dealer then called me and told me that the timing chain was worn and needed to be replaced at a cost of 2,000 dollars. My Nissan has less than 100,000 miles and the radiator, transmission and timing chain are faulty, and Nissan should cover these charges.

44 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/03/2010

Vibration in transmission, coolant in transmission oil.

45 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/19/2010

My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder has 58,000 and shakes violently once I reach 40 mph and over especially on the highway. I took it to my local Nissan dealer and it was diagnosed with the radiator leaking into the transmission making it shake very violently. The estimated cost to repair this huge problem is anywhere from $3500-$4500. I called Nissan headquarters only to hear that my warranty already expired and that they can't do anything about this problem. This is a serious safety and mechanical problem that should be recalled since they have terrible engineering and could possibly cause an major accident and someone's life.

46 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/31/2010

Transmission shaking at 40-45 mph. Is constant until transmission changes gears. Nissan replaced the transmission for a fee. After replacement the new transmission experiences the same symptoms. Took it in again and they said the radiator is leaking into the transmission. Pathfinder is in service and I have to pay for the parts and labor. Reading the complaints this is a known issue and should be a recall.

47 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/15/2010

My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder is having the same transmission problems that so many others are having. It seems that Nissan had a defective batch of radiators that has let coolant leak into the transmission causing vibrations, hesitation and eventually failure. We have three foster children and one of them is an infant with a feeding tube and track I do not want to get a call from my wife saying she has broken down on the road on her way to visitation with the biological parents or to doctor appointments. Nissan is clearly avoiding this problem! I expect they will start taking action when lawsuits start rolling in on them. Mr. Ceo of Nissan may find this thing parked in his living room if something happens to my foster children because of breaking down. Just kidding, but I will be pissed. Someone please do something about this!!!.

48 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/14/2009

Vehicle trying to lunge forward while stopped at redlight, stopsign, or in traffic. Transmission vibration at low speeds when going into overdrive. Engine revs during travel, without accelerator being pressed. As well as apparent malfunction, there are too many instances of safety issue with no control over when it happens, and we now understand the complexity of the problem with Nissan and the "recall that should have been. " we dont remember being notified of an extended warranty. We wish to complain, that a company we had faith in, and trusted, exposed our family to safety issues that could have been terrible, had circumstances been worse, as some have experienced. Nissan should fix them all.
