Transmission failed while driving on city streets. Car would not shift out of low gear, forcing my wife to get home on road shoulders with emergency lights on. Thankfully very light traffic on a weekday afternoon. Researching online, found that this is an issue with the Pathfinder, radiator coolant leaking and causing transmission failure. Never notified regarding any recalls or such.

I was driving to work traveling on the highway going approximately 65 mph when the truck started to over heat and the transmission started to slip out of over drive. I pulled off the highway and stopped at an auto parts store. I pulled the transmission dip stick. It was milky. I also found the coolant overflow was bubbling out a mix of milky fluids. I had the car towed to a local garage and they explained the issue. The radiator had failed and blew apart inside, which created an issue with the transmission line inside the radiator. The coolant mixed with the transmission fluid. The garage replaced the radiator and flushed the transmission fluid. This cost me $650. The transmission wasn't right from this point on. A few months later the same thing happened. I have replaced the radiator this time myself and took it to the garage to have the transmission flushed. At this point the transmission slips into every gear and will continuously slip if its in overdrive. The car is un drivable and has been sitting in my driveway for almost a year now. Transmissions for this car are over $2500 and I just cant afford to put one into it.

My 2006 Nissan frontier would not shift out of first gear in rush hour traffic. (latter it would not go into reverse. ) I pulled off to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle, decided to try and nurse it in first gear until I got it home. It seem to work fine. My understanding after searching the internet there is a know problem with Nissan frontier and coolant getting into the transmission.

While accelerating down main highway in massachusetts my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder slipped out of gear , jerked repeatedly and then caught again surging forward. This process repeated its self for the following 5 miles until could safely get it off the highway.
I was driving home from a weekend vacation in ocean city, MD with 2 of my children in my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. Approximately 45 minutes into the drive on route 1 in DE, the vehicle abruptly 'jumped' and then slipped out of gear. Luckily, I was able to coast into the right lane and then pull to the side of the road. If not, we could have been hit by any vehicles that were behind us. For a brief time, I was able to get the vehicle to slowly drive in 1st gear and pull into a parking lot of a gas station/convenience store. I couldn't get it to go back into drive after that point. We then had to wait 2 1/2 hours to be picked up by my husband. The car was towed to a local shop and diagnosed as needing a new transmission. The price quoted was extremely high (probably because they knew we were out of state), so we opted to have the vehicle towed back to our town of residence to a transmission shop. The shop indicated that they have seen this problem many times in 2005-2007 Nissan Pathfinders. The radiator cracks, and the coolant leaks into the transmission, which ends up destroying the transmission. This appears to be a known defect. $6000 later, I now have a repaired Nissan Pathfinder. Nissan needs to issue a recall and fix these known issues. They also need to reimburse customers who have experienced these issues and have had to pay for the repairs out of pocket.
My wife was driving my 8th grade son and his basketball team to middle school game. She was on the freeway going 65 mph, when she felt the car jerk and then start to lose speed, the engine was still running but the car had slipped out of gear. She had no power and luckily she had room to coast to the shoulder. We took the car to the dealer the next day they diagnosed the problem as transmission failure due to radiator fluid in the transmission. We replaced the the radiator and coolant lines and flushed the transmission, and it ran fine for a few months. But the check engine light came back on last month, we took it in and now they tell us that we have to replace the transmission. Please investigate this issue with the Nissan Pathfinder, frontier and xterra. It seems to be more and more of a common issue with Nissan owners and Nissan is not doing anything to repair this very serious and costly problem. I just got an estimate on Tuesday (9/4/12) for $9459. 00 worth of repairs to the transmission and the radiator. I bought the car new from Nissan, and it now has 110,502 miles.
2005 Nissan Pathfinder is currently being repaired for transmission problems due to radiator leaking in the transmission. I have had trouble gaining speed atleast 6 times due to hesitation and sometimes wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear and would'nt go no more than 25mph. I have taken the highway and it would do fine until I got off an exit and it would stall at 25mph. I have taking it to get it fixed but the transmission for my vehicle is on back order due to other thousands like me having this problem. This is a a safety issue and this matter should be resolved by Nissan but no recall has not taken place as I know of. It put many drivers and their familes at risk on an accident and to others sharing the highway and roads. Please help me and many others find a way to either get reimbursement for our repairs. This transmission issue is a defect and is dangerous! so far my cost of repairs is a total $4,424. 32. My truck is a 2005 and the transmission shouldn't have falied me so early. I dont do hard driving and never towed or pulled anything heavy. Please help me and my family. Thanks and god bless!.
2005 Nissan Pathfinder transmission slipping out of gear while driving. I called Nissan and they claims that they know nothing about, however there are several others with exactly the same problems online at car space automotive forums.
