Vehicle when stationary and in park intermittently will not shift into any other gear such as drive or reverse even while depressing the brake pedal. This causes the motorist to become immobile. One safety concern is a scenario when a motorist placed the vehicle in park while waiting at an open draw bridge, train crossing or other situation that the motorist placed the vehicle in park thereby making the vehicle immobile in the flow of traffic. Additionally a motorist can become stranded in a remote location with no communication services available. An internet search for this condition has uncovered numerous owners experiencing this very same condition on same or similar Nissan vehicles. Upon further research it appears that a component or components, such as relay switches or solenoid(s) may be the cause of the transmission gear safety interlock becoming stuck thereby preventing the motorist from shifting the vehicle into the desired gear.

My Nissan has been getting stuck in park for the last week. After research online, I found out how to manually release the shift lock solenoid. I took it to my mechanic today & sure enough he said it's failed. I have to manually release it 3/4 of the day. Sometimes I am lucky and it will unlock on the first try after starting my car.
We recently replaced the transmission under warranty and now the vehicle will not shift from park. The override from the brake pedal to the transmission does not function. Don't know if this is a solenoid or mechanical issue. Dealership says replace mechanism and see if this $1000 fix corrects situation.
Problems start after I ended payments on my car; the surround sound got bad and I have to replaced it $500. Cost me. Takata recall I did called the dealer and told me my VIN number isn't in the recall so they said nothing to worry, then another situation came up about the fuel pump, I did called the dealer and they said my VIN number isn't in the recall either and I had pay $600. In may 9, 2016 first time I was driving my car and broke down in the middle of the intersection, also another time I was driving on the bridge and when I was driving the car was going down on the bridge broke down out of not where, was very scary, police and other people help push my car to a safety area. Both time was because I run out of gas cause the gear pump wasn't telling me I run out of gas. Next one was the radiator and trans service. They said radiator was crack need to replace I spent $800. Next problem p1774 said low coast brake-fastens solenoid valve function. All this time engine light came on and charged me $50. To reset light. Then next problem is the transmission now is 4 gear come with issues and is in the mechanic now,June 6, 2017 I need to replace it and charging me $3,200. But they still working own cause they don't know yet if doesn't work I will need to pay more. This is ridiculous cause this car only have 8 years and I keep maintaining my car since I got it, so disappointed and I shouldn't didn't pay for all this cause is a recall and my car is 2008 and all the problems my car had is in the recall just cause my VIN number isn't that isn't fear. Hope anybody understand my frustrations and find the solution of this problems. Pay me back what I being putting in to this car.

Transmission hoses replaced twice (during same time period). Now - 103k miles - check engine light came vias solenoid valve, bank 2 catalytic converter, & oil pressure sensor switch all need replaced (possibly related to ecm relay issue).

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from traffic light, the vehicle hesitated and failed to engage in gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that radiator fluid was leaking into to the transmission and as a result, the transmission solenoid needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 116,000.
At first incident, the transmission would start slipping causing a vibration while the overdrive was on, the vibration would go away when out of overdrive. Then the car would stall when you would try to take off at a stop, the car would not move until you would turn the car off and crank it again. As you would pull out into traffic the car would not go. Then even with the car out of overdrive while at speeds at 55 mph or higher the transmission would not work, you would have to let off on the accelerator and wait on the rpm's to drop and then it would go into gear again. I took the car to a local mechanic and he advised the trouble was in a solenoid in the transmission. I took the car to a transmission shop, they checked the fluid and said there was water in the transmission fluid, caused by a coolant leak from inside of radiator getting into the transmission lines causing the transmission to go bad due to coolant into the transmission.

The shifter on my Pathfinder was stuck in park, they replaced the shifter solenoid which now the shifter is doing fine. I feel like this should not have happened so soon. I'm not sure if there is a recall on this but think there should be. I was so disappointed that I was having this trouble so soon. I don't know what they did with the old part. I know I have waited a while to report this but I have been trying to find out if there were any recalls on this. Please respond back ASAP. Thank you.
