2014 Pathfinder sv hybrid 4wd passeger airbag sensor frame and wiring needs to be replaced. The passenger airbag is always deactivated, even if an adult passenger is seated in it, there is also an airbag warning light that flashes on the dashboard. Nissan's OCS system seems to be frequently complained about online. The dealer says that this is just wear and tear, which I don't really understand how a frame and harness for the OCS (which they say needs to be replaced for $1200) could be a wear and tear issue. I just wanted to report this issue in case there have been others who have had the same problem, as there seems to have already been many recalls for the airbag system in this car.

The recall for air bag impact sensor form a while back for Nissan vehicales in the northern states is now affecting my Pathfinder (the airbag warning light is on). My Pathfinder was original purchased down south before I purchased it in erie PA. Is there any way I can get the recalled extend to my car and others like it.
Nhtsa recall 16v-244 has not been resolved due to unavailability of corrective parts, as I understand it. The recall dates from 24may2016. About 15-20% of the time adult passengers are present in the front passenger seat, the warning light indicates that the OCS system has deactivated the passenger side airbag. How much longer will Nissan be allowed to avoid corrective action while passengers in the affected vehicles are exposed to greater than necessary risk of injury?.

This pertains to 16v244000. . . With the exception of starting the vehicle, I had never seen this light come on until recently. My Pathfinder is largely used to move my children (both under the age of 4) to and from activities and run errands. 90% of the time I am driving there is no one in the front passenger seat. My wife rides upfront for family road trips and on the weekends. It was just recently that the light came on while she was in the seat alerting me to the faulty sensor. I called my local Nissan dealer and was advised that they did have a solution to this recall and could fix the issue that week. I took the car and waited patiently. Upon exiting the service center and getting ready to turn onto a major highway I noticed that the light was on. . . Figuring someone had forgotten to reset something I turned around and returned to the dealership. There I was advised that, from now on, my passenger airbag warning light would remain on unless someone over 50lbs was seated in the passenger seat. I was shocked and complained to the service tech but was informed that Nissan had decided that cars with this issue would have a permanently disengaged passenger airbag if the seat was not occupied. I firmly believe that, rather than fixing this issue correctly with the same but functioning oem parts, Nissan has decided to implement a recall fix that saves them time and money. I tried getting accustomed to this warning light but it is the same color as my blind spot warning alerts so seeing it my my peripheral vision is a constant distraction. I believe that the fix offered will ultimately make drivers ambivalent to the blind spot system and lead to a higher collision rate.

Passenger seat airbag warning light is not working again. First time fixed by Nissan based on recall issued. Once again the passenger seat airbag light is indicating the passenger seat is not occupied when it is being occupied. Do not know if airbag is working or not. The vehicle is now out of warranty at 37,530 miles. Nissan headquarters was not helpful; told me to take back to dealer and have it checked out at my expense. Told to call back and advise them of results; they would then take it under advisement!.
Noticed the red airbag warning light flashing. Took vehicle to local mechanic and they informed me of a recall notice on the front crash zone sensor and advised me to contact my dealership. I'm wondering how to proceed with repair/replacement.

The passenger side "airbag check" and seat belt warning light is on on my vehicle several months ago. They are on whenever the engine is on, whether there is a passenger on that seat or not. My car failed to pass inspection because of it. I noticed from the nhtas website that certain Nissan Pathfinder sold in massachusetts in 2008 are included in the takata airbag recall. However, my car is not yet included in the recalling list. By the way, this vehicle has never been involved in any collision or other accident. Thank you so much for your attention to this matter.
The supplemental front air bag warning light stays on after 7sec when the car is started. The front passenger air bag status light stays off even when there is a passenger occupying the seat. Will have this check out at a Nissan dealership but would like to have this year model included in the recent recall.

This vehicle was part of a safety recall by Nissan for the front passenger airbag or OCS not correctly identifying the occupant. In June 2014 I took my vehicle to stateline Nissan, kansas city, mo and they completed the recall activity, however, within the next few weeks, I noted that the warning light on the front passenger airbag system was staying activated when an adult was sitting in the seat. I took the vehicle back to stateline Nissan in oct 2014 and after running the diagnostics, they stated they found nothing wrong. They advised to make sure the front adult passenger was sitting straight and not leaning off center. I have since noted the warning light will periodically stay on when either an adult is in the seat, or even when no one is seated. I again called stateline Nissan on 3/23/15 after reading an article concerning continued issues with the OCS still malfunctioning and the NHTSA receiving complaint. I was told there was nothing they could do as this was no longer an authorized activity from Nissan, but to bring in the vehicle when the warning light came on. Please include this complaint with the others.

The vehicle was taken back to a dealer where the failure was undetermined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000.
I just filed a complaint last week regarding my air bag on my 2 month old Pathfinder and this week I had trouble with my transmission. Approximately one month ago when I was accelerating onto the highway my car seemed to get stuck in second gear and would not go above 30 mph. The rpms were going up to 7000 without any additional power. This only lasted for about 10 seconds. The dealer checked out the car and said that nothing was wrong with it and that it may have been a communication problem with the transmission. It happened again this week, again trying to merge onto a highway. The speed limit on the highway was 55 and my Pathfinder would not accelerate past 30-35 miles per hour for 1/4 to 1/2 mile. It is quite disconcerting when a tractor trailer rides up on your bumper going at least 55 miles an hour and you have no power to accelerate to get out of the way. Once again, no warning lights came on the dash so I am sure that when I take it back to the dealer next week they are going to once again tell me that nothing is wrong with the vehicle. Obviously this is a safety concern when the transmission can just stop responding like that. I don't know how Nissan can use the excuse "because it didn't trigger a internal warning with the computer, nothing is wrong. " clearly something is wrong and since Nissan really needs to address this issue.
My Pathfinder has a build date of Nov. 2012. Two times now the passenger seat sensor has failed to recognize that an adult is occupying the seat. It can be reset by stopping the car, turning it off getting out of the car, and reentering and start back up. It then works as normal. The dealer tells me it is not one of the ones that has this problem and he will only be able to repair when he can witness it. I showed him a picture with the air bag warning light on and the seat occupied at 70 mph. I noticed it after exiting a rest stop on I-10 and drove to the next rest stop before stopping to reset. Changing seating position while driving had no effect at all.
