I am submitting this complaint to report a serious safety issue involving the airbag system in my vehicle. The airbag warning light has illuminated on the dashboard, and I also received a notification indicating that the airbag system may not function properly in the event of a crash. This creates a significant safety risk, as the airbags may fail to deploy when needed. I contacted an authorized Nissan dealership regarding this issue. The dealership informed me that they have received similar complaints from multiple vehicles of the same generation as mine. However, they advised me to wait for a potential recall rather than proceed with immediate diagnostic and repair, stating that repairs at this time would be very expensive despite the vehicle being only three years old. Given the critical safety function of airbags, this situation is extremely concerning. A potential failure of the airbag system could result in serious injury or death in the event of an accident. I am requesting that this issue be investigated promptly to determine whether a defect exists that warrants a safety recall. It appears this may be a broader issue affecting multiple vehicles, not an isolated incident.

Brought our 2013 Nissan Pathfinder to naples Nissan because of a flashing airbag warning light and a warning light that passenger airbag was not working . Dealer fixed other recalls and charged us $179 to tell us we needed 2 new OCS sensors for $1050. We provided copy of OCS sensor recall for 2013 Pathfinder (pc216 13v -069. Nyb13-035a) which states dealer is responsible to remove OCS sensors and check the lot codes for campaign eligibility . Dealer has ignored the request and simply repeated that the all outstanding recalls have been taken care of and we would need to pay $1050 to repair this important safety problem . Please help us ?.

I was involved in a multi-car accident on oct. 7, 2025. During the accident, I slammed on my brakes because the car in front of me was slamming on its brakes. The car behind me pummeled into my Pathfinder, sending me careening into the car in front of me. There was a huge impact on both ends of my vehicle. My face crashed into the steering wheel. The airbags did not deploy. My nose gushed blood for about 1 hour. I have included photos of my swollen and bruised face to show the after effects of the wreck day of and the next day.

The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact believed that the abs system was not calibrated due to the abs warning light re-illuminated. On another occasion, the contact stated that while driving approximately 70 - 75 mph, a vehicle in the middle lane switched to the last left lane, and the contact maneuvered the vehicle to the middle lane due to the collision avoidance alarm activating. The tires spun out of control, and the front brakes failed and locked. The vehicle skidded and crashed head-on into a semi truck. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled. The contact sustained a traumatic brain injury (tbi), and medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000. .

On 01/20/25, I brought my vehicle to Nissan of downtown l. A , to fix a manufacturer recall of drivers side airbag. The invoice indicates "inspect driver bag module and replace driver air bag cover. " "upon inspection performed recall, inspect driver air bag and replace driver air bag cover and check found vehicle ok. " approximately four months later, the red airbag light on my dashboard was flashing. On 05/13/25, I returned to Nissan of downtown l a. I explained the issue to service advisor, litzy carranza. She stated if the results of the diagnostic testing weren't related to the recall issue, I would be responsible for the cost to repair. When I received the results: "airbag light flashing, check for dtcs and found b1049 and b1054. Check wires and connectors found ok. Recommend replacing airbag module and spiral cable to start. " litzy informed me the cost to fix issue would be approximately $2,000. I declined to have issue repaired at my cost, and I left dealership. On 05/14/25, I contacted Nissan headquarters to file a complaint. Case #[xxx] was established. Several days later, I spoke with marshay, Nissan consumer affairs. She indicated that each Nissan dealership is independently owned and operated. Therefore, Nissan headquarters can not force Nissan of downtown l. A, to repair the airbag issue. However, she will have the service manager call me the next day. On 06/06/25, I received a voice-mail message from lance, Nissan of downtown l. A. Service director. I did not return his phone call, since he didn't specifically indicate that Nissan would take full responsibility and repair the flashing airbag light for free. I don't know if the airbag can deploy at any time, or not at all, if I'm involved in an accident. I am already at a higher risk for serious injury due to receiving a right cornea transplant, wearing a specialty contact lens, and glasses. The force of a deployed airbag can shatter my right cornea, and shatter the lens. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of inf.

I purchased a used 2015 Nissan Pathfinder last year. Recently the passenger airbag light does not turn off. After searching the internet, I found their was a recall for this issue in the past. I contacted Nissan, and to my dismay they claim the issue had been addressed for my vehicle and will not pay to have the issue resolved. I am unsure that having a passenger in my car is safe.
The car was involved in a collision into a jersey barrier on the left side of the vehicle at high speed that is 60 mph first the none of the airbags deployed and including the front airbags driver knee airbags or the curtain side airbags. Next, the driver‘s apple watch confirmed that we were in a collision and was able to call 911 where the safety features within the vehicle did not make any notification that we were in a collision, nor is it reflected within the Nissan app that there was a collision after the fact. Additional safety features for an accident are supposed to include four ways being automatically turned on in the car, unlocking the passengers had to engage the 4-way lights and the passenger side front had to unlock the car to be assisted by paramedics. Additionally, the back driver side tire is completely flat and reads as such within the app at 0 psi however, the front driver side passenger tire is ripped from its rim and still reading fully at 39 psi. Despite the car being unable to start, additionally, the app is showing that all systems are fine within the car. Finally, the brakes the driver stated their foot was all the way to the floor attempting to break and the passenger front side also heard a severe grinding noise. No warning, lights or lamps appeared during the accident. In addition no warning lights were visible within the app post accident. Finally, there was not an alert sent through the app. Insurance company has considered the car totaled. These have been unable to be reproduced. We have requested that our insurance save and document everything in our insurance, usaa has been unresponsive at this time. Our car has already been moved to copart philadelphia and is potentially pending auction. We have requested documentation multiple times.

Occupant air bag sensor is on constantly and air bag light on dashboard. My vehicle has never been in an accident. There was a recall issued for my vehicle in 2016. I purchased my car in 2017 new and it was overstock vehicle. The recall was cleared in August 2016 by dealer and I just found this out when vehicle was taken to Nissan dealership for different recall on 4/6/24. Since the vehicle is out of warranty now dealership will not clear recall again but state it is the exact same code. Advised me to contact Nissan USA but they denied my claim for repair. This is an extreme safety hazard and Nissan should honor there safety recall repairs in and out of warranty. Please review my claim because I have seen more complaints online.

The front passenger air bag turned off when an adult or teen sits in the seat. The air bag has remained turned off. The warning light also started to flash periodically and now continuously flashes.
The transmission jerking/shuddering problem has been ongoing in the Nissan Pathfinder ever since a safety recall in 2014. Passenger airbag light is always on, even if an adult is seated there. The airbag warning light flashes on the dashboard. Nissan’s OCS system seems to be frequently complained about online. Dealers say it’s just wear and tear which is just unbelievable. Dealers quote repair / replacement cost for the frame and harness anywhere from $1200-$2900. I want to report this issue so that others with the same problem may come forward so a recall be issued.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair of NHTSA campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags) however, after the recall repair, the air bag warning light illuminated, and the message "passenger air bag off" was displayed despite the front passenger's seat being occupied. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the occupant classification system (OCS) sensor needed to be replaced, and a repair fee was charged. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was not experiencing a failure prior to the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.
While driving the airbag passenger light went on then off then the red airbag light on the dashboard started flashing and continues to flash.

I was hit on the drivers side, where the front drivers door stops and the back door begins. The other drivers was estimated at going 50-60 mph. My car spun and rolled over 360 degrees. None of the airbags deployed. The sheriff, ambulance, firefighters all told me to report it. The car was totaled at the scene so unfortunately no inspections were able to be made. There were not warning lights previous to the accident.

Driver and passenger airbags deployed without cause while driving on busy expressway. No lights, warnings, sounds or crash in any way caused deployment. Broke windshield and car has been inoperative since. Insurance can't help and Nissan is being difficult trying to put blame on us. Insurance and state police put in reports that it is a manufacturer malfunction and we are not responsible. Nissan will look at but is stalling and not giving clear timetables. Won't help with towing or rental.
Faulty airbag module. Error code dtc-b0020-13. Requires replacement of the left front seat back assembly.
Hi, in 2018, Nissan replaced the passenger occupancy module as part of a recall. That module has now gone bad again (~5 years), and Nissan is charging its customers to replace. Maybe we are unlucky, but wondering if the repair with a faulty part is a pattern that is introducing risk and unnecessary cost to customers. Hoping the NHTSA can review data to determine whether this is a pattern or one-off. Thank you.
The passenger air bag warning light is flashing and the passenger air bag button that tells you that it is on and working when somebody gets in the car is off. Therefore the air bag will not deploy in a crash. The light just started flashing about 2 weeks ago approximately. There is also a recall on my vehicle for a component that could become a projectile in a crash if the air bag is deployed. This recall was made 02/09/23 and Nissan has no remedy for it. Therefore this problem is not repairable for almost 9 months. Then I have this new safety problem as well and I don't know why and I don't have the kind of money that would be charged to take it to the Nissan dealership. I feel that this is one too many recalls on this vehicle there are 5 to be exact at this time. I want Nissan to replace my vehicle with something comparable and don't think that if the airbag is inoperable or that a component could kill somebody that this car should be driven on the roads. What are they going to do about this this is not a safety issue that should just be ignored. The car is paid for its still in very good condition but for me it is now unsafe to drive or to have a passenger in my vehicle. I want some remedy for this ASAP.

Front airbag sensor is bad. I checked it to see if this vehicle had its recall done for this known problem looks like it did because it don’t have a open recall for it.
Passenger airbag sensor not showing that airbag is on for front passenger seat even though passenger sitting there. Recall issued in 2016 and Nissan still does not have a fix for this yet.
As we were driving on the highway about 70 miles per hour, no traffic relatively, the vehicle started to violently shake and then we heard a loud explosion in the front end, prompting the front drive and passenger airbags to deploy, as well as the full right side curtain airbags. This curtain airbag struck my wife in the head and prompted her apple watch to call 911. We initally thought we popped a tire or ran over something but no damaged at all visible to the car. Even the state trooper was baffled by the situation as emergency personnel arrived. The car was not driven home so when the tow facility assessed the vehicle even he was baffled and assumed perhaps the explosion happened in the front end inside the cvt transmission. The officer on site stated this couldve ended horribly with us going the normal speed on the highway but somehow we were guided safely to the side of the road.
