The automatic power sliding door would not reopen as the passengers were getting into the vehicle. The door sensor failed to reopen the door. The vehicle had been to the dealer on four occasions and various repairs were made, but the problem recurred. The dealer suggested that there was no adjustment available for the automatic reversing mechanism. The consumer stated that the higher on the door one's arm, hand and shoulder would make contact, the harder it was to reverse the door.

Driver side and passenger side sliding door make rattling noise when driving. The dealer has to repair three times, and still make that noise sometimes.
Rear sliding passenger doors safety mechanism for detecting persons or objects does not provide proper safety. Continuous problem.
Nissan Quest 2004 service engine soon light on and problems with steering. The service engine soon light had come on 3 times, creaking was felt in the steering wheel and or the front end, sounds were heard coming from the engine compartment, computer tire monitor indicated a flat tire and or low tire pressure during cold weather, the vehicle would run for five minutes then go up to 4 degrees higher (over inflated), when the weather was warm, the setting would then be above 40 psi which was dangerous to drive if not adjusted (incorrect results on the display), srs light had come on after recall campaign #04v103000 was performed, driver's side power window was intermittent, sliding doors made loud bump noise when opened all the way, especially on inclines, heat outlets located on the floor behind the first row seat can't be controlled by the passenger rear controls, the dome lights were not working, the door rattled, the drivers side front window would not move, the window switch has an open circuit, the vehicle was jerking upon acceleration at 30 mph, rear heater was blowing cold air, there was a heavy grinding noise when the vehicle was first started after sitting for more than one hour along with the power steering, transmission fluid leaked a reddish/purple fluid on the garage floor, the interior lights were inoperative and there was an evaporation leak.
I have a 2001 Nissan Quest, since I received the vehicle from the dealer in March of 2001,the driver side sliding door kept jamming anywhere from 1 to 3 days at a time, and would unlock at times while I was driving, the passenger sliding door window would pop open when you closed the door. I finally took the auto to westbury Nissan on 10/07/2002 regarding this problem while I was covered under the warranty, they charged me $23. 70 for the repair of the passenger side sliding door window which worked for only two weeks and I finally taped the lock shut. Now the drier side sliding door jammed again on 9/14/03 and this time the outside sliding door handle broke off in my hand. Dealer wants $300. To repair.

Rear and sliding doors have a recurrent rattle noise, taken to the dealer 4 times and still have problem, Nissan state that is a carateristic feature of vehicle, but I drove other van and did not notice the same problem, this is a lemon. They abuse or hide behind the "carateristic issue". I do not believe they can fix this problem.
When trying to open both sliding doors they would not open completely. Owner made contact with the dealership.

Vehicle locks automatically, without warning. The van has locked automatically both when the ignition was on, and when it was off. Also, when using the key to manually open the doors, it is difficult to get the doors open on the first try. This is on on-going problem. This is a dangerous condition, especially when one considers that the sale of minivans are primarily targeted to drivers with children.

The power door lock system appears to intermittently locks itself. This usually occurs with the vehicle not moving when I open the driver side door manually after energizing the remote control.

My kids were trapped in the car we had to bust out a window to get them out. The doors would not unlock even eith a key in the door or using the remote for keyless entry. This is not the first time this has happened, just the first time with my kids in the car. My kids are in car seats. Ages 2 and 5 months.
The power door locks on my 96 Nissan Quest have a mind of their own. The family calls them "crazy" and we have to make sure that we do not ever leave the vehicle without the keys in hand. I am retired and my wife and I baby sit some of our grandchildren, we pray that we don't forget about them "crazy" door locks while transporting the grand kids. I mentioned the problem to a local service rep. And he was well aware of the problem with the Quest van power door locks. He indicated that they had been unable to fix the problem even after replacing all the power door locks. This left me with the feeling that a root cause had not been found and perhaps I would be notified in the near future of a "recall" or service bulletin to help with my "crazy" power door locks. After just seeing the cbs report tonight, it is apparent that many other have this same problem, but have not let NHTSA know. I just spent over $500 to fix the air bag light from coming on, to replace the control module, now I am wondering if the power door locks problem may be another bad control module. Control modules that involve safety issues should be very reliable.
Doors will lock on their own without warning including when engine is running and no driver and/or passengers are inside. Dealer has replaced parts, but problem still exists and seems to be getting worse.
We have a 2000 Nissan Quest minivan. We have electronic remotes to lock/unlock the doors. Our 8 year old daughter, jenna, had her fingers accidently slammed in the front passenger door. Theresa, the mom, was inside the car & tried to open the front passenger door to free jenna's fingers. Every time theresa tried to open the door, all the doors on the van would lock & the lights would flash. Finally, tony, the dad, was able to open the door from the outside and free jenna's fingers.
Power door locks engage without the control being touched. This has happened both while driving, and while parked.
Recently saw a story on this on cbs news, son has been trapped in car, wife had to climb in through sunroof.
When going in or out of the vehicle all doors will automatically lock. Sometimes when getting out doors will lock before getting children out. A child crawled in, and doors locked. Consumer had to get key to let child out.
The vehicle locks the door automatically with no reason. This can happen even when the vehicle's engine is running. Also, if unlocking the vehicle by the remote keyless entry, the driver door will open. Upon pressing the "unlock" botton again to unlock all doors, all door will unlock and immediately all, including the driver's door will lock. Twice I had my car locked up on me while running in my garage. I am a proud father of a new infant. While trying to put the baby in the vehicle, what can I do if the doors lock on their own again? it will be a danger to my child's safety. Also, if you try to unlock the car with the unlock (electrical) botton, it sometime will not let you do so by automatically locking the car. This is a safety issue if we need to exit the vehicle in an emergency. Please review and advise.
The remote keyless entry system fails to keep the car locked or unlocked, the consumer must not use the key to unlock the door because it will disable the remote keyless entry system, the locks lock and inlock randomly while driving or parked.

Lock mechanism works improperly. For instance, when door is opened all of the doors would automatically lock. Consumer states while driving, locking mechanism will automatically lock on its own or, if out of the vehicle, or perhaps getting something, doors will automatically lock.
Door locks lock and unlock by themselves. When I walk to the otherside to remove my children, the doors will automatically lock under my hand. I have had my children locked in the van due to this malfunction, but fortunately was at my home. I have had it in for repair 3 times. First the dealership said they could not get the card to repeat the malfunction. I continued to complain and then the sliding door actuator was replaced with no resolution of problem. I took the van back and the drivers main lock and unlock switch was replaced and still to this day the vehicle has "possessed" locking system. The dealership said they can only now try to open the door panel and grease the contacts with a waterproof grease as they believe moisture may be shorting out the system, but they can give me no promise that this will fix the problem. I have spent a lot of time and money on this problem and I am absolutely terrified of locking my children in the car. The dealership said they have never had this problem before with the Quests, but my husband said he saw this on tv and that Nissan has no fix for the problem. I just want to know who I should get to fix this problem. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, cindy haist.
On two occasions the power door locks failed resulting in two small children to be trapped in the vehicle outdoors in 100 degree temperature. Vehicle was taken to dealer six times, problem still exist.
Automatic locks are locking by themselves, trapping an infant in the vehicle while consumer went around vehicle to front driver's door. Locks were cleaned in 1998, but defect reoccurred.
No summarylisted for above vehicle.
All the doors are locking up automatically whenever consumer gets out of the vehicle. Also, whenever consumer takes the key out of ignition, or with the key in the ignition, vehicle is still running.
All electrical door locks are working intermittently. Consumer had the vehicle in repair shop twice. Still, dealer can't determinet the cause.
Erratic operation of the electric door locks has prevented access through the sliding side door, and occasionally has prevented passengers from exiting through the sliding door (they were locked in). The keyless remote sounds like it is locking the doors, but intermittently leaves the sliding door unlocked.
Doors lock automatically in hot weather. Consumer feels children could be in danger.
During a vehicle crash the window and door locks malfucntioned while being in a "locked" position, and the occupant wasn't able to get out of the vehicle, had to go through a broken window to get out.
Automatic door locks, lock and unlock intermittently by themselves. Nlm.
Passengers are getting trapped inside vehicle and locks cannot be secured from outside due to a defect within locks and alarm system. Dealer has had vehicle 8 times, but cannot determine cause or fix defect. Consumer states parts have been replaced 6 times and locks have not worked since purchase of vehicle.
Door locks will lock and unlock on their own. At times slider won't open preventing occupants from exiting vehicle. Front doors have locked and couldn't be unlocked trapping occupants in car. Locks on door show vehicle locked, alarm can be set but front doors can be opened. No way to know if van is really locked or not. Van will sometimes lock on their own sometimes locking us out. Van has been repaired 8 times but problem still cont. Door actuators have been replaced 5 times but still malfunction at times. At times alarm will go off by itself and car can be started and driven with alarm sounding.
When ignition switch was still on and/or engine running consumer stepped out of vehicle to open house gate, all vehicle doors locked up unexpectedly, keys and remote control had been replaced before for same reason. Dealer and manufacturer were contacted.
Door locks activate/deactivate autonomously. Dealer indicates failed actuator and charges $160 to replace.
